  2. Morning all is it the same format for a Lexus as a Merc Auto, Flush box, torque converter , clean off magnets, change filter, refill, or do we get the "box is sealed for life" speech from the service manager because it's a bitch of a job. so if it's do able how much are we looking at main dealer done ls430 2002 77K, ball park figures ok. Regards Mark
  3. I can go with that 37,35, as my old E300TD the old 3 lit diesel lump V6 sits 32 front 29 rear with self leveling suspension, have you noticed any uneven wear on the fronts at 37.
  4. I've just been lusting after a SC430 there is one for sale at Lexus Manchester i may go and have a look, the wife's car a Merc E300TD has just had it's MOT and i've had to spend a few quid this time but i am trying to bring her round to one and the seating was a issue.
  5. during a recent torrential downpour there sat two cars in front was a 61 plate black C class softtop with the roof down, i can only think that he was driving with the roof down during the threat of heavy rain and got well and truly drenched as well as the electrical system that controlled the roof, stuck at the lights on red heaving down, he was heading for a railway bridge in which to seek shelter, he only had two sets of light left to negotiate. I Laughed so much my ribs hurt.
  6. i opted for the service plan 3 years @ £16.95 per month, over 3 years, all parts labour, and vat are covered, collection , courtesy car, and wash with free MOT's inflation proof as well,
  7. You need to be careful with the computer - the only real way to check you consumption is with a pencil and paper when you fill up. I have a 430 and the computer average is almost always 22MPG. If I can restrain myself and drive at 70 on the motorway then I can get it over 30MPG (does not happen often) - I have a mate who plods around in a 400 and returns really good MPG figures. On short runs and round town 16 is more like it for my 430. I am a little impatient and my heavy right foot probably costs me money so I went for an LPG conversion - that is almost half price motoring after you have paid off the capital costs. The type of tyre you use will also affect your fuel consumption - cheap tyres often have a high rolling resistance. Also winter tyres work well in the winter and are safer - you will reduce your stopping distance in the cold. Bren I agree but a sudden change in MPG + in my favor was quickly correlated with the petrol gauge needle not moving, i know this is not scientific, but i noticed this and that's why i checked it. Before the tyre inflation the car started supping juice faster than a 747, but the shoddy tyre pressures i found might account for this, also remember that you get fewer MPG from LPG and the cars computer works on the petrol system only not on the Lpg system so your figures could be a little out, i am not expecting massive gains but realistically 5-7 miles + per gallon from a simple tyre inflation for me anyway is a cheap and well worth the time checking fix. Regards Mark
  8. A very positive sign today on MPG my average for the short school runs i do and a bit of tripping around was a paltry 14.9 mpg today i looked at the average on the computer and 19.4 mpg wow what a difference since the tyre pressure alteration., Regards Mark
  9. Hi all, the car had a 4 wheel alignment before i bought it from Lexus, @ 35 the car rides a little firmer but a lot better, so we have 31 35 37 any advance on these pressures my car sits, drives, handles so much better in normal mode, i put into sport and power and it was like a sports car handling really good. Regards Mark
  10. Looking for the right pressures for the LS430 running Dunlop 225/55/17 i found a thread from this site saying 35 PSI is the magic number all round, so off i pop and put in 35 all round, what i did find was from cold the Tyre pressures where all over the place from 21 back to 32 front on each corner ??? don't know whats happened there only 5 weeks out of the dealership, keep my eye on them from now on, the car had felt a liyyle different, just a little and that's what gave way to the trip, What a difference again to the car, smoother, quieter , firmer, handling stands better in the road my question is. 1 why where the pressures all over the place 2 is 35psi all round the magic number 3 what are your pressures any further recommendations on pressures Regards Mark
  11. have a look at this it may be the same not to well up on the 400's http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/body/cupholder.html
  12. yes must admit i was bored leathering a a 5 series bmw form the lights,
  13. My so called friends do try to rib me about my Lexus, until they have a ride in it, then there as silent as the car, my opinion is let the car reviewers carry on we can keep this little secret going a bit longer, in fact one of my friends is that impressed by the car i have, he wants to buy it off me and send me on my way to find another, he want's my car, the colour trim everything, is right for him.
  14. You have to put it into context, you are bound to find more problems on a dedicated Lexus 430 forum, problems to number of cars on the road, it would not put me off. but your observations are interesting in that it could be down to faulty workmanship, but is the workmanship issue from the factory, dealer, independent, or joe blog's garage.
  15. you could use Poly watch and cape cod to buff out scratches in the plastic, i use it on my plexi glass watches and they come up like new.
  16. could you post some pictures of how to do it please and what spray grease you use Regards Mark
  17. there are some dealers, i like to call them stealers who always have to do something to the brakes or pads, which by the way runs into hundreds, i think mine is due a health check as a part of it's service plan, let'ssee what happens there.
  18. Hi and welcome the the 430's i think i know the car your on about very well priced, don'y forget the extra gear as well 6 speed box in these, Now i can reverse a 40ft-er with one eye closed in a dark ally, but for the love of god that reverse camera has me all over the place what's the deal with it, my reverse eye is in, before i can move that blood green box about. :arrrggg-matey: As for road noise check what boots it's wearing mine are dunlop and are very silent, but does depend on the road surface some god dam shire roman crap up here
  19. Hi and welcome they had a ls460 at the Lexus dealer i got my ls430 from, and i must say i avoided a test drive in case i was smitten and had shell out a load more money, i would certainly have to sell one of my watches to fund these baby's, although i am working my way up slowly, so may own one in the nest 3 years. any chance of some pictures. Regards Mark
  20. I rarely use that as I am LPG. Mike I'am not LPG, as a consequence i am pulling that little thing like mad!!!!!. LOL
  21. Reading the manual i am finding lot's of little extra's that possibly get overlooked, like the seat belt Anchor points illuminate when that door is opened, and the automatic external air circulation activating in smokey conditions, the rear seats returning to there upright position when some exits the rear doors, hill start assist, the heated and cooled seats fan operation when the buttons are left in the out position but when pushed in they switch off the fan assist. Also the one touch operation of the moonroof stops so many MM away from fully open to stop wind judder, and on closing has a anti trapping device monitoring the opening. this car gets better and better.
  22. check out the service plan mine for the LS430 is 16.50 per month, it's just had it's major 60 k service with cam belt so the others are smaller ones, works out 500 for 3 years and i will still be well under the 100,000 mark.
  23. Just trying to protect your pride and joy,and nobody in there right mind would steal a car from a Manchester City player no one would buy it, now United players their cars will be Locked in a garage. Thanks i did try to be a bit careful, trouble with united players cars is that they smell of prawn sandwiches.
