How do you rate the pickup and performance of the 730d vs the LS430. I know that the 730d is 245 bhp vs 290 bhp from the LS430. is it a big difference or not that noticable unless you floor it ? well after you have chosen from one of the 6 different settings which is literately the push of a button or the slide across of the stick it's one mean machine. Engine: 3.0-litre 6cyl twin-turbo * Power/torque: 242bhp/540Nm * Transmission: Six-speed automatic, rear-wheel drive * 0-62mph: 7.2 seconds * Top speed: 153mph * Econ/CO2: 39.2mpg/192g/km =£225.00 per year. ​It's not the horses it's the torque and twin turbos that pushes this along, take up is blisteringly quick and the reaction is instant low down I have not yet used sport+ or Msport yet as it's quick in comfort and comfort+, going from stand still to 30 is no effort it just glides up to it and almost every car is still at the starting block when i glance in the rear view mirror. coupled with the fact I have done 315 miles on half a tank zooming about urban, country lane and motorway I can safely say I would have visited the petrol station with the Lexus at least once. The BMW is a drivers car the ride is firm even in comfort + you have to look at it from the perspective that you will never beat a Lexus for ride, toys, comfort and possibly reliability, that's why I am lucky to have both. Oh my friend, didnt you consider the LS460???!!?! You've gone to the dark side indeed - devils fuel, diesel! or.....there's always the LS600h if you need more POWER! Looked and test drove both, they turned out not that removed from my 430 in power and feel in fact too similar, so in my mind I would be just throwing ££££ at the same thing, I looked at the GS450h boot too small so had to discount that right away (shame) with the LS460 I felt right at home immediately, knew every toy and felt like the 430 too much, the 600h a little different but 430 territory again. The S class was just plain awful in fact I was disappointed with it, Mercedes peddle it as their flagship luxury model well my 430 beat it hands down on everything and the drive was plastic and detached. The BMW has the toys and the luxury but it's a driver car and that's what I had been missing you feel planted on the road connected I really do enjoy driving it and not feeling driven + I am hoping to arrive at Uzes on one tank of fuel Ha HA. I have a few projects lined up first. Tinted windows smoke on rear ( we have a long drive down to the south of france in 2 weeks ) Practically this is for the kids and sun glare in the back. I am toying with fitting a wrapped black carbon fibre roof I think it will look great. I have the media snap in adapter for connecteddrive, assist & BMW apps etc. As I say the Lexus has taken a back seat for me at the moment but for now and the future it is still firmly in the stable and not going anywhere soon, mechanically sound all the buttons work and cosmetically ++++ turn on and go, (touch wood) the wife loves it.

I still have the 430 and boy what a difference this dark side is one hell of a machine totally chalk and cheese. Lucky I can have both. BMW 730d amazing. I suppose i got a bit fed up of being driven around even though you actually drive a Lexus LS you still feel chauffeured, you have to be on top of this cat.

Yep that fridge comes in very handy. We take the cool box on cross country trips full of goodies for the kids, off to the south of France in July/August and it's a two day drive down. Ta Mark.

Thanks for that I will let my mate know, he's an electrician so I will see what develops. It's fop a cool box (fridge) which runs off mains and car, it's only for use now and again. Cheers Mark.

I need a 12v socket fitting in the boot of my 2002 ls430 is this possible ? my mate can fit it, he's asked if there's a fuse box in the boot to connect to, or is there a better way. Thanks in advance.

Wow 6-8 hours, 2 guys clean mine once a month inside and out 1/2 hour while I relax, am I missing somthing about claying my car.

Mine must be bloody cold, I have to move the vents as it starts to hurt my arm where is blows across so cold, I have the rear A/C set to Auto that way it cools the fridge all the time but the blowers in the roof only come on to help the car reach it temp, then they switch off again.

I think Lexus only £80.00 for a full change, had mine done at last service FOC it's icy cold front and rear.

when we travel to Nerja we take a map and the wife double checks the route even though I've done the route several times, my 2011 Volvo V70 the sat Nav is out of date the new stretch from Santander is not on there, Yes I have done the same re the toll roads, spent an hour going up and down the coast road.

Mine only had park sensors at the rear 2002 unless the front one's have been nicked LOL. Anyone know when the 430 had them Back and front ????. The answer could lead to an enquiry.

I think there should be 2 buttons under the dash one will turn (volume for key alarm) the other is a push button, the push button disables the keyless go thus this stops the system hunting for the keys, try pushing the button and disabling the system next time you park it up for a while, it may work. Even the LS can not smooth out some of the potholes and rough road round Manchester, they are diabolical.

LS 430 2002 Rear O/S door stuck shut replaced mech linage + motor Lexus Warranty Lower arm trailing arm bushes split, can be replaced individually ....Not whole arm as suggested by Lexus. Drivers door keyless entry new sensor fitted under door handle. Bonnet pull lever stuck out...unable to close and secure bonnet..fix... grease wire as it enters the dash or spray with WD.

At least try to negotiate a deal with them 3 weeks is nothing, was it MOT'd prior to you picking it up under the SOGA the fault is deemed to be there at point of sale , sod the wear and tear attitude, it failed, broke went wrong, it was defective. Personally I would argue the toss with honda.

Thanks just looked on halfords web site, the converters & approved french x2 breathalyzer for £13 quid not bad so I guess I will order some. I have HID lights so I hope the instructions a clear because there are no markings on the headlight plastic.

Thanks for that I will get a breathalyzer anyway just to be safe, Spain and Portugal are fantastic to drive around, went all the way from Manchester to Nerja and only 10 sets of traffic lights ( all at this end ) and only seen 3 Coppers the whole trip. I am expecting French Police to be a little more proactive, but my golden rule applies never attempt to speak the lingo even hello just use english and act dumb. My old Volvo V70 had a switch on the back of the headlight for Euro driving L+R dose the LS430 have such a switch ??? if not wheres the best place to get headlight converters and what would the members recommend.

Drove all over Spain and Portugal for the last couple of years, dreading the french trip down to Uzes for 4 weeks in july. Can anyone recommend headlight converters for the LS430. So we don't need breathalyzer or bulbs ? jackets I have from the other visits is it 2 triangles or one ? Thanks all.

I had the front lower arm bushes replaced along with the rear Pads about 4 weeks ago I've used a guy who has worked on my cars loads of times and is excellent but could something have happened when these parts where fitted , I have noticed that sometimes the ride becomes very firm and not very comfortable, this is more noticeable over speed humps sometimes it glides over and sometimes it's harsh crashes over, it's the same with pot holes feel everyone then other times is cushioned. The car was raised with a ramp that fits under the bodywork and not the wheels.so the wheel where off the floor I there anything we could check it feels like the Air ride system needs resetting or has something worked loose where he has been working, I don't want to go back to him with out any pointer. the height high s/w works as the car rises i can hear it ans see it going up slowly, There was a post about the Air computer module being reset by a dealer but before i go down that rout is there anything we can do. Another post suggested pulling the fuse for the Air ride system anyone know where that is. KR Mark.

Anyone got a link to a picture or have a photo they can put up for me to look at don't know what i'm looking for. + are they plugged in do they have an easy reach connector which I can check.
