  1. Cheers Mr. Transporter. Blimey, I used to change my box oil every 100K... That was on a SFL auto box though. I do know the IS has a LSD so I'll have a look into oils for both diff and box. Is there some sort of dip stick for the gearbox oil. On my BMW there isn't as it's supposed SFL but that's only guaranteed for 120K. The gearbox isn't clunky on the IS tbh so maybe they've dropped the oil/fluid at services. It has full Lexus/Toyota service history up to 89K and is now on 96K
  2. Good to know. I'm just gathering bits and pieces to do a full service. Full service has been done a couple of thousand miles ago according to the books that came with my car but I like to start off knowing it has been done and done right.
  3. Bloody hell Chris, thought it would be a bit of a trek for me at just over 50 miles but if you're travelling 3 times that then I might have to pop up and come along... Needs to be summer though as I hate the wet and cold..
  4. Would be good to meet some people. EMA might be a little too far but when I get more time it should be fine. (needs to be a bit warmer too)..... :P
  5. Some ASDA's have buy one get one free on Castrol oils atm.
  6. The handling will be different anyway. Are you planning on sticking 255 winters on the rear? You might want to opt for a narrower tyre if you are sourcing a winter set of alloys. Any Lexus dealer should know what size/type wheel will clear the brakes I imagine.
  7. Clearly they should be presenting a microwave oven show, not cars.
  8. Tried the snow button today and didn't think that much of it. I think it's my steady driving all the time that makes it not feel much different. I have been lazing around with a slushbox for the last 4+ years.... I'll ask the missus next time she's driving it. She's got a heavy foot..
  9. I know but I've just bought an IS200 a couple of weeks ago. Misses would kill me if I come home with a GS.... Spidery thing is an ant. Stick it on a path in Photoshop and copy/paste it round. Save as GIF and you've created an annoying ant.
  10. I have staggered wheels on my BMW (8J front / 9J rear) and bought a set of parallel alloys for winter. Saves swapping tyres over every time. Also when you get some warm spells you can just swap them back to the summer wheels. You'll find if temps go above 10ºC the winter tyres are not as effective and start wearing very quick.
  11. I think you should be fine. It doesn't look a big job and there's plenty of room round the tiny engine.
  12. Not had a chance to take the radio out and unplug the two plugs but I have changed the tone settings and I'm sure it's a lot louder again now. Thanks :)
  13. I 'think' the alloys will come up quite nicely. There's no kerbing on any of them so it's just taking time rubbing the things down.
  14. I do miss my auto box. My car had a 5 speed auto box and I loved it. I'm lazy though. Not fat, just lazy... Still getting used to changing gears after all this time. Funny if you come off the M18 at 70MPH and come to a halt at the roundabout still in 6th without dipping the clutch.....
  15. That looks lovely inside! I like buttons. The more the better.
  16. If you like that one you might like this one too. It all works like a package. Memory mirrors, seats and column. 3 memory settings and autodip in reverse. It doesn't matter what car you buy, there's always something to retrofit or add... This is the thread with the seats in btw. Sorry but I have snatched the cream mats already... The water pump and cambelt and some other bits have been done 6000 miles ago on mine luckily so that saves me a job. It doesn't look a bad job to do on these as there seems to be loads of room under the bonnet. Yeah, the BMW forum is good and I have made loads of friends and met a lot of people so I will be stopping on there even though the 5 will be gone soon. I hope this forum will be as good and hopefully I can sponge up some Lexus knowledge to get it to the same level of my BMW knowledge. It's all about helping each other out and saving some pennies at the same time.
  17. I know Chris... better get my finger out and get them sorted. I'm paiting them black for now and see what they turn out like. If no good then I can always have them done properly when the summers are back on.
  18. Haha no, my car came with grey manual cloth which I swapped for better looking black but then I dropped on some black leather electric memory seats so had to have them. Have a look at my thread on how to wire them up here if you like a read. Shorty on here is selling a full set of IS200 cream seats for £60 IIRC I think the carpet is much easier to get out of the IS as it stops at the edges as far as I could see. It might look good doing it half and half. I know it's not an IS but you get the idea by doing it half and half. This car was all cream interior before he swapped the dash, carpets etc. Bit like yours but then the other way round...
  19. Best start rubbing these down...... Bought them for 80 last week so not too bad. No centre caps with them which is a shame. :(
  20. Postman Pat has just dropped me these off to get me through the winter...
  21. I think I might get in trouble if I start swapping my interior this soon. Swapped the interior in my BMW 3 times in 4 years Somebody has just bought the whole interior (everything that's black) It's a rather big job taking the carpet out as the whole air box etc plus dash is build over/on the front carpet Just in the process taking the bits out (pict) Your seat heating shouldn't be hard to fix I imagine?
  22. Thanks, I've sorted the secondary mute. Just the one cable from the Parrot loom to the mute on the SOT. I meant the stereo volume yeah. I'll try and unplug the stereo and mess with some settings. I'd say the volume has been cut by 40%
  23. Hi and welcome. I joined before buying one mainly to get advice and just bought one a couple of weeks ago.
  24. Ill have a go tomorrow morning back from the school run to work and see what's what... Chris, you need some winters! Had winters on my BM for the last 4-5 yrs and been laughing past 4x4's on summers. Quite funny actually in a two ton RWD barge..
