  1. Cheers for the update. I'll have a good look at the lights when I get the car next week. There were so many thing to check yesterday that I haven't really paid attention to the lights. I know the difference between halogen and xenon are immense. It's like driving in dark when I use misses's Toyota
  2. I was under the impression that if HIDs were fitted in non projector lights the light would be scattered? I have a H7 HID kit but I believe I'd need HB4? I take it the headlamps aren't auto levelling either? I know they don't check this at MOT's but I'd like the car to be legal. My headlamps are not auto levelling but it's fitted with SLS on the rear. Cheers for the advice on this car Chris. It's much appreciated. I know I sound like I haven't got a clue about anything but that's because I haven't I do soak up things like a sponge so I'll be coming out with less daft questions soon!
  3. Looks like a lot of no's there... I've seen somewhere that someone fitted projector lenses in the existing clusters but it seems a fiddly job. I know the halogen lights in our Celica are a slight improvement over candle light. Are they OK on IS's?
  4. 1. Does the driver side electric seat have memory presets. 2. Can an electric steering column be fitted and if so would this work in conjunction with the seats. 3. Are Xenon headlights available. Mine is advertised but I can't see the projectors inside. 4. Does it have selective locking and/or drive away locking. Sorry if they are dumb questions but this is my first IS200
  5. Gutted for you! Hopefully things will clear up soon and you can start looking for a replacement.
  6. Welcome along! Same colour as I've just bought today.
  7. Welcome along. Just joined myself. Lots and lots of reading to do!
  8. I don't think I could live with that. I've got some strange OEM weirdness....
  9. That's very good to know about the keys. BMW is odd with these and you cannot get them cut round the corner, they are ordered from your V5 and take a week and are about £100-120. The alloys on the car I've bought started to corrode but I expected that as they are the same on the Celica we have. I have just sold my winter wheels of the BMW to recoup some money and source some for the IS. When I get some then the summers can be refurbed. They're not bad actually atm. If the NAV thing fails then I can always gut it and do what you suggested earlier. I can't believe I'm buying a car so close to Christmas. I would have been on a right mad buying spree right now otherwise
  10. Nice! I don't need a valet key I think. We have two main keys and a valet key with misses's Celica and have never used the valet one.
  11. Thanks for the link Matt, Is everything so cheap on these or is he selling stuff cheap? A pair of folding mirrors for £60? Just sold mine of the BM for £180. I'm going to LOVE this little Lexus!!
  12. Cheers Chris, Matt, I didn't take any pictures of the car but as soon as I get it on Tuesday or Wednesday I'll snap some picts and stick them up. It's a blue Sport with I 'think' the same wheels as in Matt's sig. I'm going over the wiring diagrams as we speak (and all last night) but I really need to take the dash, seats and carpets out before I take the NAV plunge. The car comes with two black keys with buttons, no grey one.
  13. Well, I need one anyway so I best look into finding one after Christmas.... Are they available in cream/beige or are they all black?
  14. I have installed a Parrot MKi9200 kit in my current car which I'd like to install into my IS200 that's coming next week. On my BMW I needed a SOT lead as BMW does not use ISO. Would I need an adapter lead for this car and if so, which one? The car is from 2001 Thanks in advance
  15. I have been looking for one but is £130+ acceptable or the going rate?
  16. I'm a bag of nerves when it comes to MOT'ing the BMW (even though it hasn't failed one yet) I'd rather go to the dentist! Hopefully the new arrival next week will be flying through it's future MOT's
  17. Excellent buyers guide! Just put a deposit on one so I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas
  18. Well today I have put a deposit on a 2001 Y-reg IS200. I wanted a fresh MOT and TAX on the car to do the deal so it should be on my drive by Tuesday, Wednesday at the latest. B) Even the misses likes it (she'll be happy to see the back of the 5-Series)
  19. I think I need to go and have a look through Mr. Stav Navs posts in a bit and see what's what. Maybe with his help I can make it happen. I'm used to looking at headache giving diagrams but I feel like I'm jumping in the deep end with a different make car but my mind is set on an IS200 now B) Off Topic: I wired and coded this and this into my current car to show you the level of headache that can be achieved....
  20. I'll add the CD-player to the list to be checked tomorrow along with a few others from the thread you provided. I had a look and I can get hold of a NAV screen, GPS Aerial, disc drive and both complete looms. (one for the front and one for the rear) I'm quite capable of running looms/wiring but I have zero experience with Lexus. Is there an accessible website where I can find the cars body electrical system and component info? (Like this but for Lexus/Toyota) Thanks so far for your help btw. Much appreciated indeed!
  21. Thanks Chris, I've read some things about the CD player playing up / not working. Would I be able to fix that or would I have to buy a replacement? I'd like some info on coding extra's to the car. I want to retrofit an OEM NAV system which looks straight forward but I assume it would need coding to the car afterwards? We have a Celica and everything is plug and play but on my BMW I have to code everything or it won't work. Thanks for the link, I'll have a good read on that before I go and see the car tomorrow. Ray
  22. Hi all, New here. I'm going to have a look at an IS200 Sport tomorrow in the hope of downsizing from my current car. Anything particular I need to look at? It's a 2001 model on a Y plate if that makes a difference. Fingers crossed I'll have a Lexus on my drive by next week. Thanks in advance Ray
