Stopped watching Top Gear years ago. Mainly because of the above mentioned. Clarkson doesn't like anything below 50K and his little slave buddies just follow suit. We have a Toyota Celica and I've spent £120 in repairs over the last 7 years and last month another 70 odd on a fuel tank pipe. I have had a 5-Series E39 for five years and I spent an average of £80 a month on it. Also had a 7-Series for a short period at the same time and the only thing I had to replace was the fuel tank BUT at a price of nearly €1000! I keep comparing my IS200 to the 5-Series which is wrong as it' should be compared more to a 3er. Difference in quality feel? Yeah but then the base price reflects that too. I need something that does NOT break down or costs me the earth to run so opted for the little IS. I quite like it!

Sorted the mute thing out but it's seems the volume has been cut. Volume on a quarter was pretty loud but now it isn't. I can turn the volume up all the way whereas before I couldn't. Is this the box in the SOT lead not coping or limiting it?

Cheers Ian, Got the plug out and in. All is working apart from the Parrot kit mutes all speakers apart from the O/S rear speaker. I'll have to have a look at the various mutes and see what's what. Then I need to fit it all and find a suitable place for the display to mount.

I'm trying to get to the connectors on the back of the amp but I guess my hands are too big? I need to plug in a SOT cable so I can fit my Parrot kit. This is what's off atm. Any pointers as to what comes off next? TIA

Mine came up with an error3 once last week and I couldn't eject or select anything. Just sorted itself out. I'm still trying to find a place in the IS to mount the display of my Parrot MKi9200 so I can fit the thing and plug my iPod in again and use BT streaming music from my iPhone.

That's a shame. I would've thought they were heated. Maybe something to look into! I'm pretty sure they are always heated on my old car no matter what outside temperature so it should be rather easy to sort something out. I think I'll save them and see what's what before it gets scrapped. Sorry for thread hijack

Are heated windscreen washer nozzles not standard on these. I'm sure mine were frozen up last week?

Got some new cream mats of Shorty on here and got some new plates made up as the rear one is a bit tatty and spoils the cars look.

My mate had a RR Vogue from new. 69000KM in the gearbox was rebuild as it chomped itself up and at 90odd K KM both head gaskets blew. If you have deep pockets go for the RR. If you have even deeper pockets go for the Gayenne but the RX is probably the most sensible choice.

Not sure if you can compare the RX with a RR unless you mean the RR Sport?

It'll only be temporary I guess. I painted one of my spare sets of the BMW in silver and it looked odd as BMW uses some deeper coloured silver. I need to find out what colour the originals are and see if I can match it. Hopefully I can get the shed up to temp next week to paint the things.

Just bought some black paint so black they will be. If it doesn't look good then I get them refurbed and powder coated or painted in silver. Tyres should be here on Tuesday just in time for the warm front to come over.......

Just keep running it until it's starting to cost a lot of money to keep it on the road. I have just bought mine last week to replace my E39 5-Series that has done 353000 miles...

New wheels today. Need sanding down and painting and some winter rubber round them. Would the look OK in black under a blue IS? I don't want them the same as the summers.

I've filled up a few days ago and I'm only doing 3 miles to school and 3 miles back twice a day with cold starts and some Tesco beer runs so I'll have a look at the mileage when the light comes on.

But Sheffield offered the cheapest service so even though they have 'monopoly' you're still best off there? Not comparing it to BMW. The thing in my sig is in bits now but I haven't had the time to take a decent picture of the IS and make a new sig.... ;)
