  1. Sorry chaps, I have decided to stick with the Germans, currently negotiating on a S55 AMG 54 plate. I did look at a LS430 dark blue on Facebook yesterday £4,250, 92k. I have to say that I think it was smoother than my S600 (W140). I was very tempted. However, it turns out that the car is a Cat N. I confronted him and he said 1) he did not know and 2) it is a 2004 car so no one will be bothered. I may revisit the LS as I was seriously in impressed, but not for now. Cheers
  2. I already own a car that has 146k miles, so I'm not worried about the mileage. The problem at the moment is that some of the interesting cars are around 150 miles away. I need to be choosy. I will be using the car for maybe 3k miles a year, plus it will be parked on the street.
  3. Hmm, is that not top money? Also being a bit picky, rear parking sensors. It was also off the road between 2016 - 2021.
  4. Sorry for the delay in coming back. I arranged to view the red one for £7,995 (T557 SAA) on Monday. The car was taken for its MOT that afternoon and failed due to Exhaust emissions. It passed later in the afternoon with no advisories. Needed a bit of welding around the exhaust area. I looked under the car and other than surface corrosion it looked ok. The rear inner arch area was covered in rock hard mud, but managed to scrape it off and there was only surface rust. In the end I got a bit ****** off. The car was on a ramp so I could not see the condition of the interior (apparently it is immaculate) or drive it. There was no service book, but a selection of invoices. I drove 40 miles one way to look at the car and was not prepared to do that again. Especially as he wanted top money. Back to looking.
  5. I got sent some additional pictures of the rear bumper. Both front and rear bumpers would need a respray. Would the last MOT advisories be a concern?   7. It is an original colour, as my 98 model was the same. The only difference was that mine had a wooden steering wheel. The MOT history does not seem that bad. However, it has just run out. I will see.

  9. I also was considering the M2. However, it worked out to at least 10k more, the waiting list was more than a year and as my IS F was depreciating more on a monthly basis than what I was paying, I thought I would bail out. The only thing I have noticed so far with the M240i is that the steering is a bit too light. The performance is certainly there.
  10. Well this was my second ISF and as much as I liked it, it is not the type of car that is nimble around town, also the finance was quite high. I have mentioned before that I could manage it, but in the end I decided to save some money and try and find something else. The BMW certainly matches it for pace (not sound) and is about 41 stones lighter, which is noticeable when weaving around London and other cities. The obvious running cost are also a consideration. Maybe I have fallen for the dreaded low down torque of cars these days. This BMW has it 500 Nm or 369ft lbs from around 1500rpm.
  11. I have this afternoon p/x my ISF in exchange for a M240i! I only put 3000 miles on it, so it now has about 7200 miles. the colour black with beige leather (I have posted some pictures in another thread). Subject to a couple of marks (which no doubt Lexus will fix) the car is immaculate, no seriously it is. The rear seats have been sat in once in my ownership and according to the dealer I bought the car off, the rear seats have never been sat in. The car was serviced in June. However, the big service is up next, but I doubt if it will need anything. Tyres have lots of tread left. The dealer said that the depreciation on the car was running at about £600pm, therefore try not not to pay over the odds. I think it looks better than the red one Lexus have for sale. I traded it in at Cooper BMW Reading, which is part of the Inchcape group. One of the Lexus dealers in that group apparently wanted it. I know dealers juggle around the figures, but the p/x for my pocket was £30k. That left me with equity for the BMW, I was quite pleased with that considering I only had the car 7 months. WBAC were quoting £29,400, before an inspection. I will be interested to see how much they mark it up. It is an immaculate car, no thrashing, but there was the occasional blast of course (which has to be done). I hope it goes to a good home.
  12. Mine is likely to sold to a dealer on Thursday. However, they are likely to want premium money for it though. I will provide full details on Thursday evening.
  13. Thanks for the advice. I am inclined to keep it. I only need to weather a financial storm for 18 months then I'm ok. However, the compactness of the M2 or M240i combined with the pace is enticing. I will go ahead with the meetings this week and report back. What is more interesting I nearly brought an M135I, before my first ISF years ago. The V8 sound and the looks won me over then. Other than the M cars, the BMWs are a bit bland looking though. I'll let you know how I get on.
  14. WBAC have quoted just shy of £30k! I am going to see them on Friday, see what happens. There is still a part of me saying to keep it after this an morning's airport run. Also this being the second time coming back to these cars, I doubt if I will ever find a better one than this, if I change my mind again. Cheers
  15. I doubt whether Reading will deliver. However, with all due respect £25k is too low. I will more than likely keep it for another year if there are no takers.
  16. I went to a local BMW dealer this morning to discuss my p/x. The dealer phoned around. The Lexus dealers were willing to pay between £22k (Croydon) and £25k (not sure the dealer). Milton Keynes offered £24k. It seems Lexus are having problems selling their RCF's and therefore do not want another V8. However, a dealer admitted that the retail will be at least £32k. It was Coopers at Reading that said a dealer was willing to pay c£30k. I will find out next week. The above gives you an idea of the of the profit some dealers are looking. The car needs minimal prep and was serviced 2 months ago. I am not desparate, as I do really like the car. However, I could do with reducing my outgoings for about a year or so.
  17. The snow button is now a single button on the left side panel near the steering wheel adjuster. As said above the sport button is now in a much more convenient place.
  18. I might be selling mine. 13 Plate, black with white leather, 7000 miles (I bought it with 4400 miles) and serviced 2 months ago. However, It is likely to go back to the dealership. If I does it, it will be interesting to see the mark up, considering there is one for sale for £36,990 which is an older than mine. I have been offered a tentative price of £30k, just waiting for another price from a dealer. I am thinking about buying a BMW M2.
  19. Hmm, the problem has just occurred to my car. Only 6400 miles and serviced three weeks ago! I will give it a fews days then arrange to book it in.
  20. The black one (2013) with white leather and little over 4k miles is mine. It was actually £32,500 from memory. However, the p/x was good. Also I think it was up for around £34k for a while. The deal was done quickly, even though I thought he was bluffing when he said someone else was interested. I did not even test drive the car, (live in London) but I had a black 59 plate ISF from the same dealer for about 18 months before I sold it. This one is spotless and so it should be. The red one should be priced around £28k, but I suppose if they can wait a few months and sell it at that price then why not.
  21. Well the shape is 8 years old! The price might be high, but you are getting a very exclusive car. As much as I like the RCF, it is for a smaller market. Not that many buyers. A dealer told me that the novelty wears off fairly quickly and they are being bought back by the dealers. I would have to be given a fantastic deal to buy one. The GSF, now that is different matter.
  22. It is not going to be easy. Approximately 80% of company cars reported to HMRC are diesels. As a city car with occasional long journeys the IS is great. Quiet and smooth around town. However, for those people who travel 30,000 miles or so, I think a diesel will be more cost effective. Having said that I have only owned a diesel for two weeks (morning start up was horrendous) a 450h for the weekend and 20 minutes in a 300h.
  23. Don't get me wrong, comparing the IS with a diesel, the IS wins hands down. Not so sure about petrol cars though. Strangely the hybrid versions of the German brands don't seem to sell well in the UK. Also the IS300h always seems to be compared against diesels and not other hybrids, but that's another topic.
