  1. My mistake about the XF, I thought it was a bit of a strange comparison. The CVT box maybe fine for most driving conditions, but when you want some spirited driving, it is not that responsive. The GS 450h is much better.
  2. I am not sure you can compare a IS300 with a Jaguar XF-R. Performance and sound alone would have the IS beat. Plus the XF-R would be compared to the GS - F. The XE is the main rival. Back to your question. I have driven an IS300 and as much as it is smooth and preferred over a diesel, the gearbox is not that great. I would take the Jag (not the diesel one).
  3. I tracked mine at the Bedford Autodrome. I had a stock exhaust and It still sounded epic when you are up in the rev range. The down shifts sound particularly good.
  4. Considering they could not sell them back in 2011 with a £20k discount, they seem to be holding their price reasonably well now.
  5. I owned a 09 model and now a 13 model. If there is any difference in the ride it must be marginal. Although coming out of a Megane RS anything seems soft. I did ask the dealer about the ride in the newer models and he said he does not recall Lexus sending anything out about it. Where did the reference to ride quality originate from anyway. Does anyone have anything from Lexus on this?
  6. This car only has 4300 miles on it. Presumably you are referring to a different car?
  7. Sorry that was me. Back in a ISF after a year out. Should be picking it up on Saturday.
  8. You maybe right. However, its big service is due in August 2015.
  9. I see my car is now for sale at Lexus Birmingham, it was at Renault before. If it has had a full service, which included front disks, pads and tyres. The price is very good. It retailed at 24,950 nearly two years ago!
  10. Well maybe it was. It's just that I got the quote over internet by their computer. Maybe some kind of formula they use.We negotiated the value of my car then further negotiations we had on the Renault. It worked out to about 22% off the car! excluding my part ex. There was equity in my car, so that helped.Personally, I think they selling the car too cheap. A little touch up and £24k.Is that yours that's just come up on Autotrader? The black one yes. It has 36,500 miles on it. Well it did when I gave it to them last Saturday. They must have simply polished it and put it on their forecourt.
  11. That certainly is the plan. I will have to start driving more anyway.

  13. Thanks everyone. I think I got a good deal, considering this was a separate transaction to buying the Megane. Something I also considered was the residual value, which would be £9k in July 2016. That seems good if I were to trade it in for another Lexus, but I wonder how much I would get for it. WBAC offered around £13k about a month ago. I think Lexus would have hit me hard with the cost, considering the body repairs,if I were simply to hand the car back. In terms of the Megane, I like it. The ride is slightly softer than the ISF (not much), but obviously it feels a lot more 'alive' as it is lighter. Driving a manual again is nice, where you have long stretches of open roads. It is very sporting, with its recaro sports seats and a 6 speed gearbox. I intend to go on a few track days with it once it is run in. The cabin quality is ok, a bit more harder plastics, but it has the basics, sat nav, USB and climate. I will get bored no doubt and when I do, as I said I may look for a LS. I have had some LS400's in the past. An LS600 is what I am thinking of. I have enjoyed my time with the ISF and have no complaints other than not being able to stretch as often as I would like. One of the things that stands out, which should not be a factor was the MPG. On long motorway runs 30mpg being achievable at around 80mph is remarkable for a 5 litre V8. Cheers guys.
  14. Guys I'm out for a while. Sold my F for a Renaultsport Megane RS265. Totally different car I know, but I wanted to 'drive' a car for a while and plus the car was looking at some big bills. Anyway to cut a long story short. Renault have it up for sale at £22k. I traded it for £18k. It has a small kerb scratch on one wheel, some scuffs and a small dent behind the rear door. Full Lexus history, 36k on the clock, not 32,500. In a way I am sad it has gone, but within 6 months it will, in my view require: Two front tyres Full service Front disks and pads The repairs to the body. Although it was on lease, I came out quids in. The original offer was £19k, until they saw the bodywork. I think they hold their value well, it was retailed at Lexus for £24k when I bought it just under 2 years ago. I thought the info would give some idea on mark up and retail prices etc. Considering the others out there, it is very good value. I will be back, but maybe for an LS. Cheers.
  15. I actually bought mine because all round I thought it was better. Better for me was: Quieter cruise on the motorway (better than the M3 anyway) More mpg than both of the others More reliable Cheaper insurance. Standard spec. I will bow to your knowledge on the day to day handling, though on 19inch wheels are the other cars significantly softer. I haven't driven either of them. In a strange way that fact that the ISF bobs around reminds me that I am in a car that needs some respect when gunning it. If there was no drama, it would be a bit ordinary and not appealing. Sorry off topic off! If the RCF was in my price I would buy it, although a C63 coupe is nice.
  16. I think the RCF is a very good car, comparable to a M4. I prefer the looks, the dash and of course the sound of the RCF. I have not driven a M4 but the synth sound may be nice. However, it cannot compare, not even to my ISF. Is it too heavy? If it is a quarter of a tonne heavier than a M4 and only .5 of a second slower to 60mph that's an achievement. An American road test had the RCF about a few tenths slower around a track than a M4. The driver had to work very hard in the M4 too. There are also references to the RCF being faster round a track (USA). Each to their own though. I will be interested to see the UK back to back comparisons. Sorry, but I'm sure there will be some bias. The emphasis will be on track performance when possibly only a small percentage will actually take it there. As I would only be prepared to spend my money on a used car, it would be the RCF for me. 3 MSF will you be taking your car to the track?
  17. Apparently, the ISF was bog standard, other than the ABS being disconnected. At full chat the car sounded great. I was told that in the dry, 10 sets of tyres were used in a day! I noticed they were Michelin all round. The RCF is a great car and I am glad I had the opportunity to drive one round a track (albeit the slowest). How much better is it than the ISF, hmm I don't know. What I do know is that it sounded better, felt more planted and had better brakes. I had my hot lap with Alexander Wurz, boy he can drive!
  18. Scott's tel: 01737 367572, 07880 785439 scott.bassage@ld.lexus.co.uk
  19. Hmm The email I received had a number of dealers names attached to it: Listers, Sidcup, Hill Toyota and more. I presume all flying out from Farnborough and yes Scott Bassage, is the event organiser. I think I had an earlier email with the Manchester dealers attached. Who are your chaps dealers?
  20. The email I received had the following reminder. 'I am still waiting for the following registrations' Rob Fulford and 2 guests, is Jardine Motors your dealer? Unfortunately, the deadline was 11am today.
  21. It would be interesting to know how much they would give me for mine against a RCF. From what your saying, not much! The car £17k ISF has gone, sold?
  22. £16k trade-in that' s £8k mark up! Even with preparation costs the would be too much, I think £20k seems reasonable, unless the seller was desperate to get rid of it. On that basis prices seem to be holding up rather well.
  23. Yep, email with the details received, so good to go!
  24. I would be interested to know how much Lexus paid for it. What's their mark-up? I have no idea, a guess say £20k.
