  1. Will do, I doubt I'll be fitting it until midweek though. I'll post an update when it's fitted
  2. Excellent! No problem. How badly was it coked up? It's worth doing regularly, it should improve your mpg. The DPF cleanner might also be with doing as a preventative measure
  3. Here: http://www.racechip.com/chiptuning/lexus/is/xe2/220d-130kw/index.php I went for the pro2 box, the ultimate is not worth the steep increase in price
  4. Very easy to do mate, just a few nuts. Here is a YouTube guide: I used a spray on brake cleanner after scraping most off.
  5. Ah ok. For me then I I would take off the egr and clean it as it's only a 45minute job start to finish. Then delete the code using the code reader and see if it comes back on. Also you could try some dpf cleaner, I've never used this but for £10 it's worth a try, I've heard the Wynns DPF cleanner is very good and available from halfords, but there is a chance your dpf could be too far gone but worth a try!
  6. Just put the code into google mate, very simple. It comes up as DPF fault.
  7. I bought the Racechip one in the end, haven't fitted it yet though. Just reset the ecu over night but waiting for it to stop raining to fit the box. I went for this one because it has good reviews, seems to be a big company who sell worldwide and the price was excellent. Delivery in 2 days from Germany to France too. It only connects to the fuel rail like most boxes on sake, I found one or two that also connect to the boost sensor but I wasn't prepared to pay between £350 - £400. For what I want I'm sure t he racechip will be fine
  8. Ah ok. If i wanted a sportier sound personally i'd go for a full induction kit and SS exhaust system or maybe just the backbox. A panel filter is a cheap and easy way just to improve throttle response and change the tone a tad. It all comes down to owners choice really. I own a 220d so i have no choice, sounds rubbish either way haha.
  9. ah OK then i see, you have the later HDD version. As far as i know it looks like the only option is a dealer update. Do you think it is really necessary? Your map would probably be 2010, not too bad really. Mine was terrible but it was from 2005 on a 2007 car!
  10. Try searching in Google Chris, I find it better even for the results in this forum
  11. Exactly, I've used them on a few different cars. They do make a slight change to the sound but at the same time they don't make the car sound like a boy racer
  12. It's defiantly worth a try, I need to do it on my is220d as my mpg is really low. Have a search for the subject, it's recommended a lot in threads on this forum. It needs to be done over night ideally, I did it for around half an hour and nothing happened
  13. A simple k&n panel filter should be enough no? A lot cheaper, and a bit more discreet plus no need to tell your insurance
  14. Argento, the update is via DVD. You should have a DVD drive behind the clock display underneath your stereo. You will need a thin screwdriver or an Allen key to poke into the two holes release the display - very easy to do. When you take the disc out of your system you will find the part number on the disc. You can then input the number into this website which will tell you the disc you need and price: http://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu/Shop/Index I found an original disc on eBay.de for around half the price
  15. I need to get hold of some but it's two or three times the price out here. I too do mostly short journeys so I'm a little worried about the dpf, I do use a fuel additive so hopefully that will help
  16. Try some of this, there are some very good reviews on halfords website too. Worth a try for the price! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wynns-28272-Diesel-Particulate-Cleaner/dp/B008VQMLXE/ref=sr_1_2?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1390753098&sr=1-2&keywords=dpf+cleaner
  17. Yes as Jamie says, there is no need for canbus LED's. I changed my sidelights to these Philips ones: http://www.powerbulbs.com/eu/product/philips-xtreme-vision-led-w5w-t10-4000k And changed the rubbish headlights for some nightbreakers: http://www.powerbulbs.com/eu/product/osram-night-breaker-unlimited-h11 I'll get some pics up if you like?
  18. I had a similar problem with mine after I changed the cabin filter. I forgot to turn the climate off re circulation. For some reason this causes my car to have condensation, not a big problem though as I don't use the re circulation anyway (unless I forget!)
  19. I had exactly the same problem mate, I checked with the owners manual and still couldn't sort it. I will just disconnect the battery overnight instead
  20. You can buy a LUK clutch and flywheel kit from www.oscaro.com (French website) for 1055euro which is £870. Not sure what they would charge for delivery but it's worth a look. It's like the equivalent of eurocarparts, I use them quite often. If anyone wants to search flywheel is "Volant moteur", clutch kit is "kit d'embrayage"
  21. Nobody has bought a tuning box for their is220d then? I had a reply from tdi-tuning, they said that their tuning box connects to the fuel rail as well.
  22. So I have just received my cable and software and have installed it on my old win7 32bit laptop. I won't be able to try it out for at least another week due to reasons I won't bore you with, I bought the software to try and re-link the spare key but I'm wondering what other people use the software for? Are there any nice features that can be switched on?
  23. Hi everyone, I'm thinking of buying a tuning box for my is220d in a bid to cure the turbo lag and help with the overall driving experience. I'm not looking to make the car into a rocket ship but a few more bhp, less lag and more torque would please me. I've looked into a couple of companies and have contacted them. Racechip being the 1st, the cost is 229euro. The box connects to the fuel rail only, I'm unsure if any companies connect there devices to other parts of the engine, aswell as the fuel rail. The 2nd company I've contacted is tdi-tuning, I have not had a reply yet but I have used them in the past for my Golf. Cost from them is more expensive at 291euro. What boxes are other people using?
