Sublime to ridiculous, replaced my now departed ls400 with a wee beetle softop....seems to be getting around 50 mpg so my wallet is opened much less....but surprising thing....I jumped in, put seat right back....and couldn't reach pedals properly...its VAST behind wheel if not in back....daughter has a mk4 golf tdi, essentially same car but it feels tiny behind wheel...obviously no where near refinement of LS, but what is....I doubt I will buy another big car as nothing will compare....until o can afford a low miles sc430 or ls600 that is.....any how, don't excommunicate me coz I drive a beetle....

With Regret My Time Here Has Come To An End.....

Sorry for your loss man and all the best -
All the best man...as others have said, of this car is more than transport, if you have a bond with it, keep it....could,prove very therapeutic...of not, sell, sell, sell....as others have said it will heavily depreciate and of you have no bond with it, you can buy a virtually identical one when you recover for 2-5 k less than you sell it for....either way, you win..

Well, the old girl purred away yesterday, new owner seemed delighted. He had always wanted one, and held off to get a good one. He remarked within a few hundred yards that his current toyota avensis would now feel like a transit van. It's in good hands, a lovely couple who I feel will really appreciate and look after the big gold bus. -

Unfortunately I'm not in a position where I can salt away a car and although I think it was a cheap car, I was delighted with the price... -

Well, assuming the chap gets in touch, someone just got themselves a cheap lexus....I think....but I would say that! £1320 it made, which is £30 less than I gave for it, so, guess I'm not too bad at judging a cars market value. Am genuinely gutted at the thought of not having that cosseting embrace as I sink into the seats and start the inaudible engine, but sometimes reality bites, hard.... Will let you know once it's away and will keep posting, lexus less, as its a cracking forum....gbn -

198 watchers and 1400 views...might have been wise to list it in classic section after all...OR...it could stall where it's at....which would not be so great, no reserve sale as always.... -

Sadly, I am now facing the fact that I can't afford to keep three cars in the household...so, advice.....gimtree...or ebay for selling a low miles 400...I was thinking of trying the classic section of ebay, I know these aren't classics but thought seeing one advertised may tempt someone not considering one?....sad day..gbn -
A poem I posted in another section...and the God and devil here aren't of any faith, God and the devil walked side by side, Looked down at the world and they both cried, One of them in laughter one of them in pain cos the people of the world were doin it again....and again Well you created them, then they created you So you cant blame me and I cant blame you Its you to blame but not the you I know Its all of the gods they made down below I can see why you cant see the gods that they all blame Its hard to see whats comin up on board a movin train I am on the sidelines here just workin on my tan But sometimes all it takes is one honest decent man So the devil stood up and said I will not stand by how many more decent folk are gonna up and die My gods good and yours is bad , youll all go straight to hell Well none of these folks are welcome there, Ive got it runnin swell Aint no place for religion in my home way down below Just honest sinners and decent folk who deep down still all know Religion takes an honest man and fills him full of hate And honest men should realize this before its way too late I will admit that should be 'some honest men' not an honest man which would imply it corrupts all, which I really don't think ,but hey, it's a first draft...

Yeah, I ammended my post...my difficulty is seeing how things done in the name of a religion is not in accordance with a holy book and its misinterpretation for inappropriate ends. As you will know, if you wanna read a book full of violence, incest, retribution, even wit in some cases, the old testaments yer man!.. and yeah, I love my lexus....forgive me ls400 for I have sinned, it's been a month since I.filled your tank......

That's an awful assumption to make that I have only studied briefly?,,I have only been at university for four years and only studied the philosophy of religion briefly, but hey, am not a wet eared 20 yr old...I can see the problem was in my wording, but I'm a 45 year old man who is topping of a lifetime of interest in philosophy, ethics, religion and aesthetics with a university degree...sorry if my post mislead you.. as for the actual existence of God, well now, that's another thing all together....and how you can say that the conquests, settling of North america etc and subsequent slaughter of indigenous people had no connection to religion is beyond me...but, as I said, am happy we have opposing views, and will happily agree to differ...peace, gbn

Hard to be lighthearted about this subject, am just blowing off steam anyhow, enjoy the forum man, gbn

I mentioned that very point re recycling, keeping cars longer etc in my post on 'an inconvenient truth' which as I said then, is a very interesting, illuminating and , I felt, ,unpreachy, un sanctimonious piece of work, again, only my opinion...it opened my eye to many things I had not previously thought of re ecology etc...am looking into lpg for my Ls also but need to scrape together a grand or so, and being an impecunious (tight) student who likes to spend his cash on essentials ( petrol, pleasure, alcohol) this may take a little while!...all the best, gbn

Isn't everyone an actor Mike?...if anything, acors are more transparent than most because of the name of their profession...I'm a different person to my fellow university students than I am running a security firm dealing with drunk and often violent customers, I'm a different person to my partner and daughter, differen to my friends etc..we all put masks on! As ts elliot wrote, there will be time,,there will be time, to prepare a face to meet the faces that you meet....we all put faces on to one extent or other..... Slightly off topic....yes, I agree with the hypocrisy of the likes of arnold etc...putting on the green credentials whilst driving a hummer..althoughi I'm very green aware and drive a lexus, so perhaps I too am a hypocrite....my point was that if she really believes it, if she is doing it for the right reasons, she is using her position in society to illuminate and educate others...if it's from a hypocritical position like arnold, then she deserves flak....but I doubt Emma Thompson drives a hummer.... There is even an argument that suggests there is much more pollution etc,..caused by other sources than motor vehicles but that's another point for another day..and anyone driving and maintianng a fleet of 10mpg guzzlers surely seriously erodes their credibility to most... I didn't mean my post to be inflammatory and apologise if it seemed that way, I just feel that many people have a reflex action to some topics, including ecology, war , religion etc..and it sometimes clouds their vision on it, although, as I suggested in another post, I too admit my views will also be clouded by my personal, though far from intractable, beliefs....peace, gbn

Yes, I am studying philosophy, in my fourth year, and although I am an agnostic who leans toward aetheism, I have a deep interest in religion, and studied it, albeit briefly, for a term, last year.. I would point out that almost any world religion has a huge degree of ambiguity built into it so that it is, in my opinion, a one size fits all moral guidebook...the problem with that is the ambiguity allows many translations and interpretations, and these translations can be tailored toward the ends of a minority of individuals world wide...ask yourself, how many innocent indigenous people the world over, how many innocent men, women and children have died the world over for as long as we care to remember in the name of Judaism, Catholicism, Islam and Protestantism? Historically, an untold amount. I have nothing but respect for our armed services, they do a job I could not and goto fight where they are sent. My problem is with misguided, crooked or sycophantic politicians who bravely take these decisions for them, in Iraq alone there have been over 100,000 civilian casualties from 2002-20013 from the result of 'allied' bombing...yet the situation seems to have worsened...so, the solution...more bombs...Albert Einstein said his definition of insanity was doing the same thing over an over and expecting a different result....he also said there were only two things he knew to be infinite, the universe and mans stupidity...he then added, but I'm not sure about the universe....I think the application of his first definition gives truth to his second, don't you? I do not consider myself to be someone who is cleverer, more morally correct, than anyone else...I would never shove my views down anyone's throat...people may have different opinions to me and that's cool, but I'm pretty sure we could sort our differences without it coming to blows...it doesn't seem to work that way in the global scale sadly..
