I had this on my watch list..I like it, sorry....potential way too much work for the 1750 buy it now price....I would rather buy a decent one that had already been butchered than butcher a decent one myself if you see what I mean....although I was very near putting big wheels and a tint on my old LS....

Had two air cooled yam rd250 as a nipper, one with the lethal loophole home made 'sidewinder' third wheel....and an rd400 which I rmemenr being lethal...

In all fairness, we are talking about a very large, nigh on 300hp v8...I would nominate the LS as one of the most efficient barges there has been. Certainly the most efficient of its day. It's unlikley low drag co-efficient,,helped by the sculpted body and hideaway wipers help hugely. I have owned many large cars and joe have come close to the frugality, comparitvely speaking, of the LS

Unfortunately my phone is a work phone and has many unsaved numbers dialled daily. I would most probably have to make a dozens of calls to narrow it down. Hey, if it's not to be, it's not to be. Will send him a letter tomorrow...hope guy...and car...are alright..

Long shot.... ....if anyone in the Ayrshire area sees this car, stick a note under windscreen wipers. I should never have sold it and would like first opportunity to buy it back. It is much missed. I don't want ANOTHER LS, I want THAT one. Guy got a great car for the money. He has still not left me any feedback thru ebay and I have tried to contact him several times thru ebay with no joy. I am going to send him a letter tomorrow as I still have adress from invoice. Never stored his mobile. No..it's very strange, I can only contact him thru ebay, he picked car up promptly, fell in love with it...and left no feedback...??...I will fish out my old phone, sure his number is in there somewhere...would be to good to be true if for whatever reason he wanted to sell it back, but nothing ventured eh? The derv beetle tdi convertible I replaced it with was duly given to my daughter for Christmas, so, me, possibly one of the most fanatically petrolheaded person you could meet..(almost 200 cars owned and counting)..., , I'm left driving a dull as dishwater golf tdi....(which we gave her LAST Christmas...)....something ain't right...

As far as can remember 34/36 psi all round...did utilise 55mph cruise control a lot....

I used to get 20 mpg round town, 24-26mpg mixed half and half and 34mpg on long runs including a wee bit of fun....mk3 ls400 MUCH lamented... So much so I contacted the buyer through ebay today to offer to buy it back of it wasn't working out for him....you don't know what you got till its gone...

I always feel tests are a false, manufactured opinion. I had had lots of mercs, bmw and lexus before I bought my late, much lamented ls400, a car I considered dynamically inferior to the marques mentioned. And...this may be the case...you can argue that a bmwis more involving to drive, a jag is prettier, a Merc has more gravitas....but I don't think any of those manufacturers made a car with the blend of attributes the LS has. It's only when you LIVE with a car you appreciate its quality. To make an analogy, for roadtesters it must be like attending a a series of parties and meeting a load of strangers...and judging them on the brief time they spend with each stranger. Obviously the more charismatic, more idiosyncratic, best looking , will stand out...will be remembered.... For me, an ls400 can do everything all its competitors could do...but its blend of attributes are, and remain, unmatched. I have said this before but i don't think a car with such mechanical integrity, such impeccable manners, such tactility and such a resolved, coherent design has been available to the public before or since.....to continue my analogy, the ls400 CAN party, but it gets you home safely too....and then looks after your hangover...day in, day out....

Actually like that colour...but then my dream Lexus IS an sc430 in Corinthian bronze...

as malc pointed out, that's about £6200 more than mine made...so, overpriced..yeah?...worth it to right buyer....possibly, as everything is ..as a car dealer mate used to say, there is a bum for every seat..!

I doubt you will regret your purchase....and your mechanic is spot on....other than one proviso...I genuinely believe the ls400 was better built than ANY other car of the ninties, including any rolls Royce...

Yup, I would 100% have kept my ls400 if I had somewhere dry and warm to keep it...and could have USED it occasionally....cos it was the best car iv owned...did I mention that?...but cars need used and sometimes you gotta let go...or end up with a breeze block shaped garden ornament...

I'm not saying it wasn't worth it....just that similar older cars are criminally undervalued...whereas that was only undervalued....one day the 600 will be undervalued and am already putting money away haha

Cars like this make me realise how undervalued the earlier ls400 are..don't get me wrong, a big chunk of car for the dough, and worth it for the lpg, but I would say me recently departed mk3 looks to have been at least twice the car...wrong colour for many and four speed puts some off, but I'd rather have a low miles cared for example than a newer higher miles one?...my car made £1320 on ebay, I reckon it was WORTH twice that at least but these barges are so undervalued.... Best of luck finding the one you want man, am sure it will appear on the horizon at some point...

In my defence, nothing will compare favourable to me old Ls, so I was as well buying a completely different type of car...the bug has one or two things the lexus didn't...unlimited headroom and 50mpg

Wasn't lookin for lexus replacement, but am caraholic and right place, right time,...and glad I bought it....loveable wee car and much more than the style over substance they are portrayed as..

Each to their own....would have made a better police cruiser for roscoe p Coltrane though...
