Now punters come for the hybrids. Not the non hybrids. So Lexus are building their uk market range around this fact. It’s not about offering engine choice. current gen IS had 3 engine options let’s take the F sport model and compare the time periods they were for sale is250 2013 -2015. 178 registered is300h same period 1871 registered is200T 2015- 2017 64 registered Is 300h same period 1269 registered so, in terms of choice: 2013-2017 is fsport non hybrid = 242 2013- 2017 is fsport hybrid = 3140 With 2 non hybrid choices 1 trim level of 1 model. And you argue Lexus sales are lacking because punters really wanted a 3.5 v6? Or that the mere presence of a 3.5v6 in the range would push these numbers up?

But bmw have volume in other models to be able to carry the 40 models Lexus don’t. And pints of milk even for the least popular sell in huge volumes so not in anyway a suitable analogy for luxury cars now why not argue the toss with Lexus uk, even if you convince me it’s not in my power to sell the rc350 in the uk

My point is low volume requires high margin. You can’t just price to sell because rc350 would still be tiny volume. The 200T sold barely over100 cars, the 300h over 1000. Any way, the only opinion that matters is Lexus, and they have decided not to sell the 350. Whatever the reasons the bottom line is profit margin, unless it’s a halo vehicle like the RCF or GSF.. And you won’t convince me you know better than Toyota what will and not work

BTW what Lexus needs to do is engineer some lightness in their cars they are too heavy. Engines are just fine but with 200 kg less it will be a different world. A C class is over 300 kgs lighter than an IS but much aint it you should email Lexus with that. Bet they never thought of it. and the difference you quote is more like 150kgs. Granted the c160 saloon is more like 200 Kg lighter, but with 127 bhp it blooming needs to be

It’s a rhetorical question. it’s because it wouldn’t sell enough as per my last post. Round and round we go as some still don’t get it. Cue another post from someone saying it would despite all the evidence to the contrary which includes that fact that it’s not sold in this country. do you think Lexus with all their experience, financial and market analysis simply don’t understand their own line up and markets in which they operate?

Exactly. Last time I looked a whopping 2 RX 200T’s had been registered in the UK. The market for Lexus non hybrid engines is just non existent in the uk because of their hybrids, because they are miles ahead of the opposition. Look at the 3 German brands their hybrids are tiny niche cars of their ranges. These engines sell in the US and Far East because their fuel is so much cheaper. I filled a 75 litre tank in Florida last year for £40. Here it’s over £80. So the gaps that some seem to think exist simply don’t. Look at any 200t model that was offered in the uk IS, RT, NX, RX. The hybrids out sold them massively. My final point is Toyota are the second biggest car maker in the world. They know how to sell cars in vast numbers all over the world. They know better than you!!!!!
