  1. Saw this over in general discussions, original post relates to an older LS, but this has worked for me on my 59 plate IS250: All four doors creaked considerably when going over bumps etc. I tried spraying silicone on the rubbers, it worked for a couple of hours and then came back. I discovered it happens a lot to BMW and Audi. Various forums claim to have the answers, but one in particular from the States worked. The person posting said to clean all of the rubber areas, including the window rubber with undiluted dish washing liquid, as they say it's a build up of cleaning/lubricating products that cause it. Also to clean the bodywork in the appropriate areas.
  2. I had this problem on my drivers door on an IS250 59 plate. Thought it was a bit of a long shot but this has worked for me. Result! Thanks for posting..
  3. If that is all that is covered for an essential major service, they must do next to nothing for the £159 essential minor service Is it not worth trying to play 2 dealerships off against each other.? I'm assuming there is a lexus dealership in Glasgow?
  4. Just a query about the big sixth service. My understanding is that it is around £600 as all the spark plugs are changed. My question is how much is this service under the 5 year plus essential care service? I'm referring to the 250 maintain emcee schedule
  5. I used to use optimax as it was then in my civic type r, I got an extra 30 or so miles to a tank. I'm going to use v power in the IS though from next fill up. Does tesco 99have cleaning additives as per shell v power?
  6. Ive only had my 250 a few weeks and so far only filled up on Tesco unleaded - its near my house and cheap! For this engine though Im going to switch back to vpower as I always ran my Civic Type R on it and my 325 with no issues and a good improvement on performance and economy.
  7. Thats a big pair of ifs! I get 380 out of a tank full on mine, mostly urban- ish driving, thats on supermarket fuel. Im going to try Vpower, as my civic type R used to get an extra 30-40 miles out of a tankful compared to 95 ron
  8. I wouldnt describe the noises as loud, guess I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed for when the colder weather comes around... thnks for the replies..
  9. Apologies for another dumb question. The issue describes here is a cracking sound after a while with the heater on. I have only had my Is a few weeks, and I get a cracking sound when I put the aircon on when it's a hot day. It only happens a few tines, once the temp has dropped and the fan slows(on auto mode) the noise stops. So it seems to be the plastic contracting as it cools. Without using air con I've got no noise at all. I'm reluctant to start pulling my console apart as I said there is only get a few cracks for a few mins then stops. My question is - have I got the same issue here? I've never had the heater on yet....
  10. Id agre warrenty is a long shot but I got a year with the car being an approved so no harm asking. As for the cause, Id also agree with Normski2, on closer inspecton its all that makes sense.
  11. Ive done a quick search and seems to be a common problem. Does anyone know the cause or fix? If i cant fix\reapir myself and If i cant live with it or it goes worse I'll try and get it sorted under warranty.
  12. After washing my car at the weekend Ive noticed there are some marks on the front passenger window. These are thin white lines on the glass. The look like scratches and are on the outside, but I cant feel anything when running my finger over them. As they are all perfectly parrallell it looks like they have been caused by opening/closing the window. Ive used glass polish but cant remove ar reduce their appearence. There are no untoward noises operating the window, and no obvious debris on the window rubber. Ive only had the car a a month and never noticed them before, but they are not easy to see form the drivers seat. so a couple of questions: Anyone else had this, and would it be something that would be covered by warranty?
  13. now it's clean....but the wrong way up???
  14. Thanks for the info, I'll gat some fitted when the time comes. At least now I can stop worrying about it
  15. Hi, its an SE-I in Atlantic Blue, black leather. I'll put some pics up at the weekend once its had a wash and wax. Looked mint when I picked it up but its a bad colour for keeping clean and is now filthy. It has the steering wheel paddles - "change gear like an F1 daddy" my 5 year old now asks on every trip!
  16. HI, Ive had my IS 250 for 3 weeks now and Ive noticed there is a lot of brake dust build up on the front alloys (compared to any other car ive had). Is this a normal trait of this model? Its a used approved car with the fourth service and an MOT done the week before I picked the car up so there are no brake issues as far as I'm aware (ie the sticking caliper issue). Also at low speed the front brakes do make some noise (the sort of noise you get when the car has stood in the rain for a while) but this car is so quiet Im not sure if im just noticing this more. At normal road or motorway speeds there is no noticable brake noise. Thanks in advance for any comments
  17. HI all, Picked up my IS 250 auto a couple of weeks back, and im loving the car. Approved used on a 59 plate with 30k on the clock. No plans to modify the car in anyway, feels spot on as is. Lexus dealer didnt disappoint as was the easiest buying experience ive ever had.
