  1. I heard that Lexus don't include a cambelt change in the cost of the 100k service, a recent policy change maybe. Perhaps some Lexus service guy on here could clarify!
  2. The 400h also has the eCVT gearbox at the front, quite a cleaver bit of kit, I was concerned when I heard CVT cos I thought of belts and expanding pullies etc but having watched various vieos and read up on them I find the system very robust. No belts no pulleys it's all controlled by the two front motor generators and the planetary gear systems that are always in mesh. Yes it's not a true 4x4 but it is when you need it via the rear electric motor/generator. I have no trouble towing a 1.7 tonne caravan around farmers fields used for holiday meets and club weekends. Can't say what it's like in snow as we've not had any significant snowfall. As to accellerating past slower vehiclesthe 400h is very quick, the response is almost immediate unlike my previous discos, ML and Jeep!
  3. My SR doesn't have one, sun or moon, I've never thought to have one in a car with AC ro Climate, and only get dazzeled by the sun comming in through them. I'd sooner be without!
  4. Just got these and with a bit of bending of the connectors only on the boot light, I fitted them to all three interior lights. They are polarity sensitive so if put in the wrong way don't work but hey you just have to swap them round.
  5. I had my spare wheel off when I fitted the tow bar, there is a special socket in the tool kit under the boot floor. I say special because it has 5 faces not 6 or 4, fooled me for a few seconds as I couldn't find a socket to fit! You use the jack handle attached to the tool to turn it!
  6. That doesn't include the water pump though and I've heard also not the tensioner and idler pullies!
  7. The AA do a solar charger that plugs into the OBD socket. http://shop.theaa.com/store/home/car-battery-solar-charger This might help! I made my own from a small panel I had hanging arround and an OBD plug, but not had cause to use it. I left the car a week when on holiday and had no troubles starting it.
  8. I looke at the boot light in my 400h and the 31mm will probably fit with a bit of bending of the connectors, there is lots of room!
  9. CAmbelt kit is about £120 to £150 on e-bay so add the labour cost to that! Lexus charge about £500 ish for my 400h
  10. Fuel consumption my play a part, my 400h gets 30 round town slightly better on a run. and 25 towing a 1.7 Te caravan.
  11. Try using tooth paste, the creamy stuff not the stuff with bits in. I found that solution on another website, tried it on a previous car and it worked. Don't be too rough polishing the lens, and it may need a couple of attempts, but it does work.
  12. I got mine June last year so looks like there has been another update! Not worh me updating!!!
  13. I updated to the latest maps, not cheap £160, you could get a new TomTom with lifetime maps for the price. They come in a set of 4 discs but all have the whole of europe on at main road level just the area you are interested in has street level mapping. so western europe has all you will need for the UK and France and Spain etc. The map version is E1B 2015-2016 ver 1. The part no is PZ445-X03EU-01.
  14. Just looked at mine and defo not right. They look too low in the park position. The drivers side arm stopps about 1/4 inch into the dark area, yours is much lower!
  15. An old 300TDI discovery would be far more suited if properly prepared. They're fairly cheap to pick up, solid construction, easy to repair and finding bits would be easier.
  16. From what I've read on here, it's always best to change the water pump when you do the cam belt!
  17. Both nuts are accessible through the hatch with a small spanner or a long series i/4 socket on an extension. You do have to look hard for the top one and it takes a good tug the remove the cluster from the locating lug!
  18. I've heard lots of mentions of Techstream and having looked on e-bay there seems to be various varieties, some 32 bit others 64 bit, some XP only others say multi platform. Which ones do I go for and which do I avoid. It seems a very powerfull tool with the ability to totaly screw thing up as well as tell you what's wrong or not working correctly! Recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Cheers P
  19. I think the TCS warning light could be that you have an ABS/TCS wheel speed sensor on the way out! Get someone to check it out on the computer.
  20. If you have the car in "D" then there is no "engine" braking but from normal road speed there is regerative braking (charging the battery) first then friction braking takes over to bring you to a final stop. At the transition there is a sensation that the brakes are not as effective so you tend to press harder on the pedal. If you watch the power meter when braking 9in a safe area of course) you can see it moves into the blue section when you first apply the brakes and then moves out of it when the friction brakes take over. Hope this helps!
  21. Hi all My lights have started to come on earlier than normal, the sensor is clear of obstructions, any thoughts remedies other than not using the auto function!
  22. My wife's Yaris has a bouilt in DAB radio which when we venture outside the Lancaster area automatically reverts to FM! Also mast of the DAB stations in the list either fail to lock on or drop out quickly! The only reliable one is BBC raodio 1 and 2, which quickly disappear when on the M6! so for me DAB is a waste of time!!
  23. Could try saddle soap, not saying it will work but it wont hurt to try.
