  1. Not on the old Gen 1 and 2 RX300's, unfortunately - the gen 2 may have LED high level brake strip (but I haven't had to take mine apart to find out!!) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. After several months of very light topping up of coolant on the Celica, I noticed a slight pinky/white-ish residue of dribbles under the pump in the engine bay... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Hi Rob, Bad seal on the water pump would be my first guess too! Usually quite hard to ascertain where a leak is in a busy engine bay. When I had my timing belt done at 108k, I supplied a Toyota water pump and got them to change it at the same time and an autopsy of the old part showed that the pump was in excellent condition (and could of done another 100k in my opinion) but the metal gasket seal was corroded on the bottom half and was allowing tiny dribbles of coolant to leak. On the same year Celica I own (with the same type of gasket) it is also leaking in exactly the same way and is losing small amounts of coolant at 78k miles. Don't know exactly what the gasket is made from but is a definite weak spot...! Chris Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. If only I had the room for *another* car!!! Thanks for the thought to other owners MurphyBear and sorry for the bad news on your RX! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. If a dealer resets the codes and cycles turns ignition off and then starts the car, this should reactivate the compressor - if you hear it kick in, then is not likely to be faulty. If all abs sensors have a code and had live faults then VSC and TRAC lights would be on the dash. I think they are red herrings! Although, there was an issue i saw when researching before buying the RX that a handful of cars had corroded connectors due to water ingress on the ABS loom plug somewhere under the bonnet which may be an avenue to explore. Hopefully the height sensor might need a good clean out and possibly a little inventive fabrication on any corroded metal parts like the threaded push rod to get it working again, they are hideously expensive and not a complicated electronic part! 6. Hi Alan, Might be worth giving your dealer a call, then post back what they say. As your car is so new, you're a pioneer and if the issue is a future problem, you'll become very popular on search engines!
  7. Usually it is either a few pin holes in an airbag on one of the struts or a failed height sensor. I think boxbrownie did a post on checking height sensors, so would try this first. (Search the forum for boxbrownie). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Hi Murphy, No codes at all on Nav Screen. Unsure about fuses/relays - not a known problem so little info. Compressor is behind rear left wheel as you look from back of the car under trim panels to left of spare wheel. The air compressor will be disabled for 3 drive cycles (3 ignition on/off, engine warm up and x miles driven) if it detects the compressor runs continuously for 30 seconds and the height sensors don't report the vehicle has adjusted as required by the the system and is temporarily disabled with the exact symptoms you describe. After the 3 drive cycles have completed, the compressor is re-enabled to see if the fault has gone, if it runs over 30 secs again the whole cycle repeats with it being temporarily disabled! 9. Buy cheap, buy twice (ask me how I know!) - I buy Bosh wipers 'aero' style and replace every couple of years. The RX with Auto-wipers enabled is quite hard on the blades! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Wire in a hard toggle switch maybe? As for being able to disable the rear noises but not the front would primarily be down to people who tow a lot I imagine! Also, if the beep chimed for the front sensors as a 'system ok' noise then that could be the reason why it cannot be disabled. If no beep or weird noise told you the system was faulty, that's preferable to rear ending a car when parking and finding out the hard way?! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Will you be doing the work yourself? Would love to see some pics if so! I'd like to know if there are any magnets in the ATF sump/filter... Thanks and hope it all goes smoothly for you! Chris. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Hi, from what I've read, unless you have had issues with your 'box eating itself/grinding, there isn't any point changing the metal filter until around 250-300k miles (as preventative maintenance). The drain plug is on the underside of the filter (where crap collects before being filtered) so a flush or two would get most debris out, but mine at 110k miles was discoloured only, plus gearboxes aren't known for failing on the RX unlike Hondas for example...
  13. I think the dealers are interested if you have the current or last gen model of RX, if you have Gen 1, 2 or 400h, they aren't interested in helping you other than scaring you with a large bill to tempt you to upgrade - "you have dust on your break disc, that'll be £120 for the part and £400 to fit... Or I can give you a discount on a shiny used/new RX....)" Hmmmmm....
  14. That looks really nice, let us know if you see any improvement in MPG (you never know!) I wouldn't mind something similar but although would appreciate the mild performance upgrade, I'd want the car to remain totally silent :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Great news, I often advocate my Toyota dealer parts counter, they aren't that bad on prices for services items and it's proper stuff versus eurocarparts and the like (unless they have a cracking deal on Shell or Mobil1 type stuff they can stick that QX stuff and comma crap!) Remember to ask about the service items deal when you go in next - I think it's four items for the price of 3 - ie: oil filter, oil, air filter and free cabin filter etc - you can mix and match too so could swap oil for spark plugs etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Hi Jamie, I have an online RX300 manual book marked somewhere, it has lots of useful stuff. Not found a complete source other than paying for limited time access via the Toyota/Lexus web site. Would prefer a book tho! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. More likely ARB bushes - if you have air suspension they don't have rear strut top mounts per sé... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Procedure virtually (if not identical) to gen 1 RX - do a google for 'diff gear oil change lexmex' for some write ups with pics... :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Hi! All Allen style drain plugs on diffs and gearbox, no need for gasket messing about! :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Alternatively, have you seen this post: If you measure the height from the 'good' side you could manually adjust the height sensor rod (wind in or out the thread and then lock in with the locking nut on the new sensor/s) it might take a bit of trial and error but worth a shot of all else fails. As long as you have a reference point to start from, all should be good. I'll keep looking for the service manual unless someone beats me to it! :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Hi, I'll try and dig out the Service docs for you. You have to measure height from the centre of the wheel hub to the bottom outside middle edge of the wheel arch iirc... A real faff! Re-reading my post it prob makes no sense, so to elaborate you'd need a tape measure or a solid 1m long ruler and measure from the centre of the hub (0cm on the ruler/tape measure) and go straight up to where the edge of the wheel arch intersects the ruler/tape measure... Still probably as clear as mud! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Good luck & let us know how you get on. The drain plug uses an Allen Key style bolt so make sure you have one of these in the toolbox, an ordinary socket won't do it! If you don't have one, I got a nifty set on a storage rail thingy from Screwfix for only a few quid.
  23. Hi john, I mainly do 20m of b-roads (no traffic lights) to work and average 28 at the mo, I try to avoid traffic & city driving so can't comment on that mpg figure. I don't think the RX drive by wire is the problem but the gearbox (or programming) is slow to shift and frequently gets confused when driving in a spirited fashion and slowing for roundabouts then planting it again cos the coast is clear. I've gotten used to the quirks and tend to take control using the S mode on the gear box, once you know how that works (it's not tiptronic but limits the highest gear the car will use) you can force the right gear for the occasion. When driving sedately, the gearbox comes into it's own with smooth, gentle relaxing shifts. As for the valve assembly, no idea! If I ever take mine apart and figure out what it does, I'll be sure to post it.
  24. I know the car uses the steering angle sensor for the reversing grid on the screen but I am sure that would have thrown another code as it is used for VSC too... It could be a wiring issue (corrosion at a plug/connector or a break in the harness) - if you ever remove the skin from inside the tailgate (such as when changing a bulb) you'll be amazed at the amount of gizmos and electronics back there! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I'm pretty sure ColinBarber posted a link a while back that let you check your VIN against the Toyota/Lexus database for any outstanding recalls.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
