  1. Last week my CT was in for a service / first MOT. No surprises, but they did call to tell me there was evidence of oil around the sump and that they thought it possibly had an oil leak. It was suggested they had the car back in to change the sump gasket as it would be a quick job. There is no oil on my drive, or where my car is parked during the day so I guess its very minor. When I asked if it was a warranty item I was told it was not covered so I would have to pay, but when I look on the Lexus website to see what the warranty covers it states it does include "oil leaks" Before I call them back to query this has anybody any experience of the approved car warranty claims and / or oil leaks?
  2. Over how many months Paul? Its pretty similar to mine - 15K per annum 2 X intermediate, 2 X full and 1 Full+60
  3. Well my local dealer (not the on that supplied the car) gave me 10% discount on the menu pricing and free MOT, but I think others on here have given 15% discount. The discount was not related to the owners club
  4. I thought they were LED's rather than bulbs. If the red and blue have stopped working then I think its more likely to be something else so it might be easier to let the dealer take a look, although I'm not sure I would really miss them if they stopped working!
  5. So with mileage that low I'm assuming it had an intermediate in Jan 14, full in Jan 15. That means the 3 year plan they have offered you is likely to be 2 X intermediate and 1 full. If that's the case its a bad deal as the menu pricing for those is 2 X £195 plus £345 - Total £735 without any discount Did they give you a written example for the service plan? - that should outline which services they will perform
  6. How many miles has it done so far Tracy? Depending on which service is next it might or might not be a good deal.
  7. When you say link with the internet do you mean the connection to the lexus portal? I never managed to get that part to work - the bluetooth part works fine though. One thing I did work out was that your phone needs to have a DUN profile which is quite old and most newer phones don't have it
  8. Sorry to state the obvious but you are aware that you press the button to make it pop up then turn it clockwise to adjust the heat level. If you just press the button nothing will happen
  9. I ran my old VW on their long life servicing, dictated by the on-board computer. Usually flagged up services around 18K and was still running fine when I got rid of it at 110K. Personally I think that the longer service intervals are fine - people don't appreciate how good some of the modern oils are, and how much better built the engines are with modern technologies
  10. Sounds about the same price as my plan. Mine is for 50K / 3 years and I think it was about £1300. My plan is administered by EMAC on behalf of Lexus - the dealership appear to have no control over it. I'm beginning to think the dealership servicing is very expensive compared to others brands - lots offer cheap packages to cover the first years
  11. Mid life update was 2014, so I wouldn't expect a new model within 18 months
  12. Aikon - I assume yours is new so you will want to preserve the manufacturers warranty?
  13. The plans are dealership specific, or at least mine is. The paperwork states I can transfer to another dealership if I wish, just need to give them a call first. I understand different dealers will give different deals though - mine gave 10% off the usual servicing cost plus free MOT, but I think others have got better deals. You might want to try another independent, I thought there was nothing that was really serviceable in the hybrid drivetrain, so it was no different than servicing any other car.
  14. Yes, the ride is harsh IMO. I'm on 16" wheels and its "just" acceptable for me, and pretty poor up against its competitors. For me its not just that its a bit firm, but that it bumps and crashes around to much. I drive quite a few hire cars so get a good back to back comparison, and it lags behind the Golf, A3, Astra, BMW 1 series, Focus, but of course its all subjective and down to personal taste. My last car was a Volvo V60 in R-design spec - that was really awful, and everybody who rode in it said the same
  15. Motoring reviews are useful for getting an idea of common concerns, but beyond that you really need to drive and make your own mind up. To be fair the CT sells reasonably well, and most of the reviews for it are quite negative, so people must be buying it for a reason, unless they are all being sold as company cars for the low co2 I bought one as I fancied a hybrid rather than another diesel, wanted an auto and a decent level of spec. On that basis it ticks the boxes. Ride quality was a concern for me, so I managed to find a luxury spec with 16" wheels on which is OK, but not perfect. Think I would find the bigger wheels give too harsh a ride
  16. Tim, do you have a budget in mind? There is the odd bargain to be had from time to time if you can keep your eyes open. I picked up my 2013 Luxury with Premium Nav cheap, but as a used approved car. It had a very high mileage, but that doesn't bother me, and it came with the usual Lexus warranty. At the time it was cheaper than older cars with a few less miles.
  17. Yes, I thought the CT200 servicing was a bit OTT, but the cost of IS servicing will be a factor in my decision to change. As I pay for my own servicing and cover 15-20K a year then that's a big consideration, especially when BMW offer cheap service packages that get cheaper as soon as the car is 3 and have longer service intervals
  18. Id be a bit disappointed with under 50 on a run at a steady 70. I worked in Cheltenham today and its a 100 mile round trip - 90% motorway. I reset the trip computer when I left and the average was 62. About 50% of the time I had the cruise set to 70 - rest of the time it was between 60 and 80 traffic dependant My average since I got the car in April is now sitting at just over 53
  19. Apparently last offered for sale in April when it was up at £14,700 with 42K. Screams scam!
  20. Its not just a Toyota issue - pretty much all car speedos are optimistic
  21. Yep only realised this on mine the other day. When you turn the rotary dimming knob up to max it clicks into the last position. This stops the night time dimming
  22. Not quite. I wouldn't like to do an emergency stop on the generator alone.
  23. Don't let the mileage worry you to much - mine was just over 2 years old and had 100K on it when I bought it. So far the only thing has been a headlight bulb. You wouldn't know it had done that many miles if it wasn't on the display
  24. I find the computer pretty optimistic - have you measured it fill to fill to get the real figure?
  25. Lexus dealers are the best in the UK though. Go to another dealer if you're so unhappy with the current one. My experience with my supplying deal was poor. Will be visiting another for servicing so will see if I was just unlucky. Part of me thinks that I have just bought too much into the hype, but to be honest Audi were far better to me.
