  1. I guess Lexus don't feel that you need to be able to see the tacho when you are just letting the cruise manage things!
  2. In your picture you have the cruise control on - I'm pretty sure you cant have the rev counter displayed when the cruise is turned on
  3. I think the problem is that the e-cvt is not at its best at full tilt, and motoring journo's tend to push things hard for the duration of the test. You only need to look at the comments around poor fuel economy to gauge how they drive. The reality for most of us is that its a fantastic piece of kit for 99% of the time
  4. No, its a rotary knob down on the lower right of the dash towards your right knee, although mines a 2013 so cant be sure yours will be exactly the same
  5. Not sure if the newer CT's are the same, but mine will only dim at night if the knob for adjusting the dash brightness is turned down slightly. I'm not explaining this well, but there is a click when the setting is max brightness - if you hit this then the night mode wont activate
  6. Mentioned to my dealer I was interested in an IS. Service manager told me they had one and to let him know when I was next in and I could have it for the day. Just ask the question - they can only say no
  7. Which is what makes me think they don't think the op is a serious buyer. I mentioned to Bristol that I was interested in the IS and twice they have given me one for the day as a loan car - I think they mentioned they have a CT and IS and a NX as their current loan car fleet
  8. I would guess they are not taking you seriously. I once had a similar experience with an Audi dealer, so I just voted with me my feet and went to a dealer who would give a decent test drive
  9. Audi did that to me in 2004 with a factory ordered 12 week wait A4 Cabriolet. In fairness they called me to say they thought it was wrong while preping it. Was asked to come in and have a chat and to their credit they offered to re-order, return of deposit, or do a deal on the car there (as they had already registered it in my name). We negotiated, but unnoticed by them was that I had ordered the standard 2WD model and the one they had was a quattro so I was already on a free upgrade before we negotiated :-)
  10. Forgot to add - the heat shield is a known issue to my local dealers - I mentioned a rattling noise from the rear and the first thing they suggested was the heat shield and tole me they had seen a few on CT's
  11. Ste8270 - Are you sure yours is the genuine Lexus extended warranty? I ask because I bought mine direct from Lexus and not through a dealership, and Lexus Cheltenham tried to sell me a Listers warranty which was more expensive and got a little shirty with me when I said I wanted the Lexus one
  12. The auto screen dim on my 2013 is controlled by the rotary dimmer knob - if it clicks at the end of its movement then the auto dim is turned off. I'm not sure re battery charging so I would disconnect it, charge and re-connect just to be safe
  13. Down to your local dealership. Bristol will offer pick up / return, courtesy car, or wait and have a coffee
  14. I Paid 1.109 there on Friday for UL - think the diesel was the same price
  15. I was under the impression it made little difference with an Atkinson cycle engine. Cant really say I've noticed any difference between brands either. Mostly use Costco as its cheapest and on the way to / from work, other than that its a toss up between Sainsburys or shell
  16. I'm finding some of these comments really interestingly - I was almost under the impression that my negative experience was the exception, and I don't know anyone else who owns a Lexus to compare. Colleagues have asked me if the dealership experience is as good as they assume it is so Lexus have done a good job of selling the dream. My last other dealership experiences were with Citroen, Volvo, VW and Audi. Despite the VAG bashing they were consistently as good as my best Lexus experiences. Volvo were Ok, but only used them for my first interim service before the car went back to the lease co. Citroen were flakey.
  17. Bought my CT from Listers Lexus Cheltenham. Sales experience was underwhelming, prep of car was poor, tried to sell me their own extended warranty which was more than the Lexus one, never provided the quote for a service plan despite being requested several times. Was asked for feedback by Lexus, so gave what I thought was honest and constructive comments. These were fed back to the dealer principle who left a message for me to call him to discuss. Every time I called back he was busy, or I was just left on hold, so after leaving a message for him I left it at that. Used Bristol for servicing since and they have been OK
  18. Likes:- Steering Wheel - just feels really nice Seats - I find them very comfortable and have had no back problems since driving the CT Quiet Dislikes:- Some cheap plastics / switchgear for a "premium" car - sit in an A3 and the overall quality is much better (although dull) I sometimes drive up a very steep hill. Hills are not the CVT box's friend and its unpleasantly noisy - does not feel like a 140 BHP car Some of the body panels feel cheap/ tinny - why no gas lift on the bonnet?
  19. My CT had Dunlop blue response when I got it - new on the front, no idea how old the rears were. I did 27K and then replaced all 4 with Michelin Energy Saver+ They perform better than the Dunlops in the rain and were cheap as chips from Costco. 10K in they still look pretty new so I guess they will last a good few miles - 25 - 30K on the fronts They were rated B for economy, A for grip and 70dB https://www.oponeo.co.uk/tyre-article/2013-adac-summer-tyre-test-185-60-r15-h-size Link is a bit old, but gives some interesting comparisons I've heard lots of positive feedback on the Michelin Cross climate's
  20. If I'm paying that much for a glorified oil change then I expect a few perks ;-) To be fair, Bristol always offer a car - just a quick photocopy of my licence and I'm on my way
  21. Well, apparently they applied a software update and all has been well since. Not really convinced a software update fixed it, but its working, so what do I know. Only problem is they let me have an IS300h F Sport for the day so the CT feels a bit boring :-(
  22. My CT will hold the speed downhill using the regen braking to a point, but on steep hills it cant and the speed will creep up. Don't think I've drive a car with normal cruise that will hold the correct speed down hill.
  23. Impressive - makes my 135K in 4.5 years look insignificant
  24. I agree that a full EV would be the best answer, but something like an Audi A3 etron or kia Optima PHEV would also fit the bill
