  1. I agree, when consider how expensive Lexus are with 1 year 10k intervals there service should be first rate. Looking at my service bills, the Lexus has cost almost twice as much as the BMW 3 series we had over a 4 year/40k period. No repairs needed on the 3 series but the Lexus needed tyres replacing due to uneven wear on the inside edge.
  2. I would wait for the new reg, not long now, you might find more stock and people returning 2 year lease cars. I’m in the market for a new car but won’t be a Lexus as have one already and rest of the range is too similar. Just last week I got a we buy any car price for our 2015 IS300h, this week they’ve reduced it by £850, normally they increase their first offer by a few hundred, I think prices are dropping fast, I’d hold out for a while.
  3. Thanks for the suggestions but as others have said the dealer experience varies, I’ve had no problem with BMW and if I’m honest my last experience with Lexus was not great, £600 for a service which is a glorified oil change, no offer of a coffee, loan car (UX- can’t believe that was a £35k car!) really dirty and someone’s luggage in the boot. i also find BMW cheaper to run, the service intervals for me are perfect, almost two years rather than 1 year in the Lexus, cheaper service costs too. im looking at the 5 series now as good value, 19 reg delivery mileage 530’s in my price range, 540i getting there, maybe a 12 month old one.
  4. Thanks for the info, I’m not really after supercar performance, wouldn’t be in a 300h otherwise! I just don’t like the look of thing and the build quality looks poor. the biggest issue which hasn’t been mentioned is range, far more important than 0-60 times. I do some long trips sometimes with 4 passengers, being able to get to my destination without having to recharge is essential. If I was considering EV then I’d look at the new 330e, it has. 15kw battery with a range of 37 miles but more importantly ICE for longer trips. Dealer said there will be lots for pre reg 330e soon for we’ll within my £30k budget, the rrp is the same as the 330i.
  5. Thanks for the suggestions, the alfa is nice but I'd not buy one. 340i must be a nice drive, yes I test drove a 330i G20 over the weekend and the amount of kit as standard is very good, the interior quality is a real step up, even the leather quality has improved. It's making a lot of the competition look really date, Lexus should take a look at there infotainment system to see how it done. 19 reg Pre reg no miles 330i Msport can be had for £29k, seems a decent buy. The new plug in G20 hybrid is the same price list so won't be long before they are the same as the 330i. Lexus just don't seem to be keeping up, we'll keep our 300h but won't be a two Lexi family soon. Common yes, that's what keeping prices down, no bad thing.
  6. We have a 300h which we are going to keep, need to get a second car and would like to stay with Lexus but the range is just too similar, I like the look of the RC but same as IS just different body. The ES has the same engine and I just don’t the styling, particularly were they are putting the sport/eco mode button, what made them put them above the speedo, seems the same on the UC. looking at 5 series bmw or new 3 which has lots of kit on it and decent deals on pre ref ones. £30k gets you a delivery millage one with £50k list, eg 530i with some nice options, I like the Merc E class coupes but a little out of my price range yet. I know people will mention reliability but I only intend to run it for 4 years max, BMW will do a deal on an 1 year warranty extension anyway. I’ve had BMW and Merc before and all have been perfectly reliable but I’m sure others have different experience but I can only comment on mine. I like Lexus but at the moment just don’t want two similar cars, I have £30 budget, any ideas ?
  7. You’re not buying a brand new car, all used cars will have a degree of wear, I think insisting they are changed at 33k is a bit demanding.
  8. Mine went in for main service and brake sqeek, they couldn’t find anything wrong, but it has now stopped so they may have done something. At 40k they said they were only 20% worn.
  9. I’ve got the same issue on a 2015 with 37k and extended warranty. Would be interesting to see if Lexus warranty will cover it, Vauxhall did, they took the view that as long as not disc or pads it’s covered. They even replaced springs at 90k which I was very surprised about.
  10. I think it’s great value for an isf, it should cover the bits mention, you get full AA membership for two as well. I’m surprised it priced the same as standard IS.
  11. Cheers, just thinking if the price increase was recent, or just me looking at the wrong model. The extended warranty actually came down £100 last to year for the 300h, £795 from £895 for two years.
  12. I used to get 18k in my 3 series, and the service was cheaper, I’d estimate Lexus cost almost twice as much to service over a 5 year period.
  13. Thanks, that’s good to know. Mine should be ok, they have been a bit squeaky lately.
  14. I’m hoping it doesn’t need brakes, that will be another £600, just to get a rough idea, when did your brakes need replacing?? I know it depends on the type and style of your driving.
  15. I’ve just the 40k service for my 2015 300h, been told £535, has that gone up recently, I’m sure I’ve seen it at £465 not that long ago. Asked about the service pack and no discount apart from 1/2 mot. Have been told that you can go over by 2k miles or 30 days which makes the service intervals a bit better, 10k too short compared to other brands, plus not exactly cheap.
  16. I agree, service intervals too short, 10k is nothing, business get 12k. My 300h cost way more than the 3 series it replaced.
  17. The Lexus dealer I used took it in and arranged a loan car. All good I thought, however the third party “Lexus” approved body shop they use is also on the LV list of repairers. Lexus were not happy as LV refused to let them deal with it on a basis that the standard of work would be the same and be much cheaper as they won’t pay the Lexus premium. They had words between themselves but I needed my car back so was happy to let whoever deal with it, LV won in the end.
  18. Saying that, the sat Nav screen in the IS is terrible, scratch’s very easily, I had one replaced under warranty, really needs to be more robust.
  19. The AA cover also covers two people in a household, I cancelled my wife’s which was close to £100, I don’t need to purchase one so another £100, deduct this and it’s very competitive. Yes, you have to get it serviced at Lexus but I’d do that anyway. The way I viewed it, £200 for the warranty (taking the AA saving into account), maybe another £150 for Lexus service premium, so £350 per year to keep the car on tip top condition and have a piece of mind, I’d need to really want a replacement every 3 years when I could have a reliable vehicle with similar cover and performance for £350 per year. I’d loose £15k now if I want to replace my IS300h with a near identical model, £15k or £350? Easy decision for me!
  20. Toyota quoted me exactly the same price as Lexus and then cancelled the booking and told mento take it to Lexus!! It was the 1st year of onwnership if that makes a difference.
  21. I was not going to bother with warranty but as I would have needed to buy 2 x AA memberships approx £200, the warranty was £400 per year, so £200 for a comprehensive warranty I think it is a good deal for a piece of mind. They seem to have reduced the price plus I notice that the mileage you are allowed to go over is 2k now, I’m sure it was 1k before, it effectively means you can have 12k or 11 month service intervals which is handy if you do more the 10k per year. I’m going to keep my car so they way I look at it for £200 per year I can have the benefits of virtually identical cover as I had in years 2/3 of new ownership. It’s not the big things I’m worried about but if you don’t have the warranty and say something like the heated seats stop working I’d be tempted to leave it, if the locking system started to play up,that could be an expensive fix.
  22. Thanks, i’ll Wait for a few days and see if anything turns up. I purchased the warranty at the dealer and all I got was a print out, I was surprised when he said nothing to do, I don”t think I’d want to be explaining I’m covered by my partners Lexus cover when I’m broken down, i’ll certainly be wanting to know they have a record of me. i wasn’t going to bother with the Lexus warranty but with the price reduced to £795 from £895 for two years it seems a decent deal, with the two AA memberships that takes another £150 odd off so about £325 per year, not too bad I suppose.
  23. I've just taken out the extended warranty ( nice surprise as it's come down to £795 for the IS). Is there anything to do regarding the AA membership, do you get AA cards? also, it says another person living in the same has full AA cover, does that vehicle or person need to register with AA? dealers says nothing to do but not sure if that is right.
  24. I'll phone the dealer a few days before and get a price, ideally I'd like to move away from the OEM and go with Michelin. Any idea what Lexus charge for a IS300h wheel alignment ? Our local place uses a Hunters machine and I think they are £40.00, would that be better or worse than what Lexus use? At the moment the car runs absolutely straight, the steering is perfect, I've always found that after a tyre change and alignment it's never quite the same, another reason I'm stretching it out.
  25. Thanks for the reply, I think you might be right, I'll just get the two rear ones replaced, two fronts are fine. On closer inspection it does seem the off side rear is worn on the inside edge of the tyre, if you run your hand over it you can feel your hand almost drop off. I read before that no point getting the wheel alignment done but this seems worse than expected. Has anyone had success with a wheel alignment or does the problem stay? I thought most main dealers would fit any tyre, not particularly OEM, if I wanted Michelin Primacy I assume they won't do it then as it's not a OEM tyre? the Yokohama that came with car are ok but I'm hoping to get something less noisy.
