  1. What was the battery level? Vice got a 2013 CT and it makes a lot of vibes when the battery needs charging. It' feels very violent when the engine kicks in and start a the recharge.
  2. As already mentioned by the previous replies I would check the steering column.
  3. Just tell the dealer not to wash the car. It's less work for them so always welcome. I would be upfront and tell them your concerns. I'd rather have a client tell me what they expect and I can respond to all the questions instead of having a disagreement after the work is done. Better for everyone this way. Some dealerships are short on space and won't have the luxury of selecting parking spots. However, they usually park the car in spaces not accessible to the public so you won't have random civvies scratching up ur bodywork. As for the parts and oils used, you can ask to see some of the bottles and packaging as semi proof. If you are truly worried then have it tested by a third party. I've known some people to follow the engineer round as the car is worked on and get as much info as they can. I just settle for a video from the engineer.
  4. There's a v good reason for that beep. It lets you know the reversing speakers are working. The story I get told is that a Jag owner slipped it into reverse and continued to reverse, waiting for the beeps. With a broken speaker and no beeps he assumed he had plenty of room. You get the picture. If you don't hear the initial beep then don't rely on the sensors. They ain't working!
  5. My Dislikes are pretty m7ch the same as already mentioned but I'll still repeat some of them: 1. Good space is poor and will result in upgrading to a larger model when more kids arrive 2. This might be specific to my model and age but I'm confused by the lack of rear parking sensors as standard. 3. Battery size is appalling when compared to the Prius. Yes they serve a different market but it annoys me when you know there is better battery tech out there. Likes: 1. Despite the smaller batteries I can still get 50+ mpg. 2. Comfort is good. Having driven similarly sized nissans and fords the CT is miles ahead 3. Sport Mode. I still get to have once in a while. And for the love of god, could someone explain to me the significance of the separate blue and red LED above the central console. It's freaking me out!
  6. Had my CT for over a year and I've only just noticed the footwell lights thanks to this post! I noticed the blue overhead lights but never knew they changed colour.
  7. I leave the a/c on most days. Although I sometimes crack open the windows for a quick breeze. For a lot of modern cars I find that it's no longer correct to think of the a/c as just a method for cooling the cabin. My Nissan used to refer to this as environmental controls. The a/c was crucial for maintaining the air quality, temp and screen misting. Both my Nissan and CT don't seem to lose mpg with the a/c on. Don't forget that with the car in ECO mode a lot of the fans etc are actually toned down to conserve power.
  8. Have to agree with you. My charcoal canister was done and ready to collect in about 2-3 hours. So they might be able to do it all in one day. It depends on their staff on the day and what other jobs they have booked. Just a thought regarding the 1/2-1/4 full tanks ... There's no reason they can't syphon a full tank to a more suitable level before commencing the job. However, we all fill our cars with different brands of petrol. Some are more costly than others. Lexus would need separate storage for each fuel tank so they don't get mixed up when refilling the tank. As for topping up the tank on return ... well they didn't take away any premium petrol so you won't have lost anything. Just a thought ...
  9. Here's an update on this one. All sorted and covered by the extended warranty. Car is smooth again and the MPG is back up into the high 50s. So I'm all happy again. On a slightly different note, the naughty scamps at Lexus gave me a 2016 plate IS 300h as a courtesy car. Boy that is a nice drive. Almost didn't want to give it back!
  10. I think I will let them have a look and depending on their assessment of the actual damage I will decide whether to let Lexus deal with it. All this for a sub £100 part. ****! Thanks for the replies. Feeling a bit better about it all now.
  11. Thanks DanD. I'll get on that membership right away. They mentioned that they won't know if it's covered by the extended warranty until they put in the claim. I didn't realise it worked that way. I've got to pay up anyway as I'd rather not have the steering die on me. Thought I'd come on here and see what others might have experienced. I wizzed thru the warranty details and it does say that steering is covered by the warranty. So fingers crossed!
  12. Just come back from having the charcoal cannister replaced as per recall. Only took a few hours. However I asked them to check for a 'clicking' noise coming from the steering. Turns out the intermediate steering shafts is loose/broken and needs replacing. Estimate is £880. Yikes! They don't know if my extended warranty will cover it until they strip the car and get the job done. Does anyone have have experience with this part or the warranty? I don't mind paying but I'd like to think my warranty is good for something
  13. Just gathering two points here. You can treat the Highway Code as a guide. If you adhere to it's suggestions then you will be fine. However, rules with the words Must Not and Must should be considered law. These are the ones that are usually based on legislation and could lead to your day in court.
  14. That's why I said it's not recommended ...
  15. I pop mine into park if I realise the lights are going to be rather long. It's not recommended but if the gradient isn't too bad you can leave your foot off the pedals and the ct will sit there without moving.
  16. I'd take it back too. Petrol fumes could cause you to get dizzy or worse whilst driving. Fortunately my local dealer advised me on quarter tank or less otherwise they wouldn't carry out the work.
  17. I feel your pain. I've done it enough times but luckily still no scratches or dings. Doors must be made of adamantium or something. Unfortunately I haven't found anything to protect them. Would be interesting to see if anyone out there has found a solution
  18. The short answer is ... you don't. You really shouldn't be relying on sensors to help you avoid hitting obstacles. The CT isn't a huge Merc or SUV where you don't have all round visablilty so you should be able to deduce from the parking space and the orientation of your car to determine which side is near an obstacle when the beeping starts. I will admit that ever since getting parking sensors with my previous car (no screen, just a beep) I have gotten very lazy and more dependent on them when parking. I even had them fitted to my CT as they were not standard (again no screen, just audio). But I've never hit a car whilst parking (not intentionally ... )
  19. Yay! 61mpg is more like it! But I challenge you to go better. Go on! I dare ya!
  20. Like PaulWhitt20 just said, we need a bit more info. Are you possessed with a heavy foot? Read ahead on the road so you can anticipate when to accelerate and when not just let the car drift to a halt. I think the term is 'Pulse-and-Glide'.
  21. Yup Agree with Silversalmon. There's a switch near the window controls on the driver door panel (well it is on my 2013 model) which locks out all windows but the drivers. Mine is a push button.
  22. Hi Apologies to Capitalmagie for posting a similar thread to his own. I feel the need for a dashcam but am wondering if Lexus recommend a specific dashcam or whether the fit a specific one? I'm trying to avoid having wires all over my central column and don't like the idea of anything suckered to the windscreen. Does anyone have any good alternatives?
  23. Don't have the same model as you but when I m9ved to a ct200h ithe took me a while to find the hill start assist. It requires a solid press of the brake pedal all the way down. Then I get the single and double beep.
