  1. Ok. So, assuming it has full Lex history (there’s a pic of the service book in the autotrader ad) I would also assume it’s been health checked at appropriate intervals. It’s a 13 plate so obviously it’s done well above 10k annually. Does this invalidate it’s potential warranty regarding the battery? Why wouldn’t you buy non lex approved? The advert says it’s ex government owned chauffeur vehicle so I’m guessing it would’ve had any work lex suggested regardless of cost which is appealing. At that sort of mileage would a timing chain be due? I’d expect a water pump change unless it’s already been done. Any other big hitter parts, maintenance at this mileage? thanks for the reply. Do you own one of these cars?
  2. Hi everyone I’m looking at buying a hybrid Lexus. I have approx 13k to spend I currently drive a Range Rover Velar D180 but my 12 month lease is coming to an end. I work for JLR so got an unbelievable deal that I couldn’t refuse. Previous to the Velar I owned a 2009 IS250 for three years and it was the best all round car I’ve had so I’m looking at Lexus again for my next choice. Im looking at IS300h’s in the main but there’s a listing on Autotrader that’s caught my eye. GS450H, 152k, one owner, FLSH. It’s priced at 12k and similar mileage IS300h are coming out approx 1-2k cheaper. Ideally, I’d prefer something around the 100k mileage mark. I’m sure there’s wriggle room on the price, the listing has been up for at least six weeks so I’d expect to get a 1k reduction so let’s say 10.5k My concern is regarding hybrid battery life. I understand from a bit of research that they have a life of 10-15 years and 150-200k. My annual mileage is approx 7k and I’d be looking to keep the car for around five years. I understand that a hybrid model doesn’t match my mileage etc but I’m a sucker for high performance, understated cars with a lux feel. So, can I expect five years of relatively trouble free motoring despite the high miles? If the hybrid battery failed what’s the replacement cost, Lexus or independent? If the car has full Lexus history, provided I do the annual health check will that extend the battery warranty even at this type of mileage? Any advice, recommendations would be greatly appreciated. chris
  3. I came from Honda’s (Crx, DC2 integra, ep3 civic) and can absolutely say my IS250 was the best all round car I’ve ever owned.
  4. Yes, problem was solved. I was in a rush so didn’t really ask for a full explanation on what pipe was disconnected. I had a quick look around before I took it in and the MAF sensor was plugged in correctly and main air box hose thing with jubilee clip was also connected.
  5. I took my drivers side headlight bulb to be changed at Halfords. Managed to knock off a pipe connected to the air filter and had EML light, traction light and reduced power shortly after.

  7. Mine is up for sale on there currently. I’m in Warrington. Grey SE-I 100k. Really good car, 2009 58 plate
  8. is200 newbie and Rebecca. Where have they gone? Anymore for anymore? That moody fella who got the big merc and then went to Subaru when it all went wrong!
  9. If I could afford to keep the 250 I’d have no probs going back to her after 12 months. Value wise, there just can’t be a better all round car about. Have to say I’ve really enjoyed my time with Lexus and hopefully there’ll be more to come!
  10. Not sure what happened, the sales woman at the dealership, while discussing gap insurance, told me she’d sold 22 velars to JLR employees and that one had been written off already. Must admit the jacking/vandalism thing does worry me. I live in a leafy part of Warrington but my girlfriend lives in Dovecot and has a flimsy front door 😬 After 2 1/2 years of the IS250 the plan is to look at a used IS300h but from what I’ve read on this forum, they’re not that well regarded.
  11. Fair wear and tear is acceptable so very minor scratches and no kerbing alloys! Apparently someone from work has already had his written off within a couple of weeks. Not good
  12. I work for JLR and a few months back we were offered a Range Rover D180 HSE R Dynamic on a 12 month lease for £268 a month, no deposit. It’s a 62k car and I’ve never had a brand new motor so thought, why not? Took delivery of mine on Friday evening and it’s an absolutely stunning car to look at, a real head turner. I’ve had people stop and watch me park etc etc. Cars got every option you could think of. Two touch screens, WiFi, massage seats, remote function so you can heat her up before you get in. The options go on and on and on and on. An absolutely beautiful car but the ride and engine, performance and refinement... hand on heart is better in my IS250. I know comparing petrol to Diesel is a little unfair but 62k to the 5k I paid a couple of years ago and the 100k miles on the engine.... testament to the quality of the Lexus brand and/or this model Feel like I’ve traded my perfect woman for a bit of skirt I know I’ll never own a better value car than my IS.
  13. You’re welcome. Its the best all round car I’ve driven and this is a great forum so Im happy to help out.
  14. I have a 2009 (58 plate), facelift in dark grey/black leather. It’s on 96k and has full history, all but two at Lexus. I’m in Warrington if you want a test drive. I will be selling within the next three months but you’re welcome to come and take it for a drive regardless. I’m in Warrington, I remember seeing a post saying you were going to look at one there so I’m guessing you’re reasonably local. Give me a shout if you’re interested.
  15. Dang! Such a shame as you seem to have put an awful lot of hard work into that car. Hope it works well for you whatever the outcome.
  16. John, thanks for all your help. I took my car to my local mechanic and turns out the drivers side back box was loose. Anyway, he said I’d be fine to leave it until Friday morning and with a bit of grinding and welding it would be a easy repair. Two miles down the road the box dropped down and dragged on the road. Thankfully I was driving slow at the time and I managed to fashion a harness out of one of the material handles off the cubby holes in the trunk. Anyway it’s in the garage now so hopefully will be sorted later this afternoon. I’ll say it again, - many, many thanks to you and all the other brilliant posters on this forum. It’s such a useful resource and all the members are so pleasant which can be quite rare on an Internet forum/messageboard. I’ll get you a pint at the 2018 LOC meet up!
  17. Newbie, I have a horrible feeling my centre section has gone in the same fashion as yours and the original posters. How did you get around not having the cats messed with? I was planning to go to JP exhausts as Johnatg suggested and was hoping it would be straight forward. Any info appreciated
  18. I enquired and apparently it won’t fit. Any suggestions John? I believe from Lexus price is north of £700. FML
