  1. Well, took a IS250 SE-L for a test drive and sure glad I did, I've decided to hold onto the IS300 as I found the standard 18" rims made the ride a bit too firm especially at the rear. It couldn't tackle uneven road sufaces all that well either (felt unsettled) and I found the car generally underpowered for a car this size (big improvement over the IS200 I agree, but not big enough to change from the IS300). Probably downsizing the rims to 17" would improve ride comfort, but generally think I would find engine power 'slightly' sluggish compaired to what i'm used to. It's a shame 'cos I really like the look of the IS250 and the GS300 would probably tick all my boxes except for looks!
  2. It could be that using the sat nav power plug that has caused the problem. I have the same problem on mine and was told that the 'fat' power plug has over time prized open the connections. What you may need to do is perhaps using something plastic or wooden, close up the connections to make a tighter fit. Not yet had a chance to try it myself.
  3. I bought my IS200 Sport 2002 brand new and on driving it from the showroom it suffered with a 'clonk' when going from 1st gear into 2nd. Apparently many other models suffered with the same problem. Nothing they could do would solve it. So had to live with it until I sold it and bought an IS300 which came with an auto box Other than that it was great!
  4. Hi Phil Good to hear about the car so far. I too have a IS300 and am thinking of changing to a IS250 SE-L but can't quite take the plunge. Are there any big differences between the two in levels of driveability (not interested about toys and gismos) mostly important things like tyre wear, tramlining, handling , comfort on long distances that sort of stuff. Cheers
  5. WOT !! You leave a greasy item on someones leather seats !! OMG ;)
  6. ....still can't decide Yes, Caspian Sky is growing on me. Would like that with the light interior, but hearing reports that the light interior plays havoc with the interior mirror visability, refections and so on, is this true, always had dark interiors myself so can't comment. Anyone seen the new colour, Sable. I saw it in the showroom and looks great under the showroom lights, but not seen one in the daylight yet.
  7. What's the best colour? Argento Ice just doesn't look as good as Platinum Ice to me Can't make up my mind what look best
  8. Hi John Thanks for your comments. Yeah, the trade in value they offered me was £5k on a very 'straight' motor (full service history, no prangs, 1 owners from new so on, so on, so on...) I know this should easily fetch between £8k-£9k on their fourcourt too. The new IS250SE-L is tempting but i'm just finding it hard to part with the 300
  9. The fact that the SE-L comes with 18" rims as standard with 40's profile does this harden the ride and pick-up tramlining? Also, anyone else got doubts over the strange coloured (goldish fleck) alloys as standard, personally I prefer shiney silver alloys. :)
  10. Having driven the IS220d for a short while, I decided against it. One main reason was that I am used to the 3 litre power, it would be like going back to driving the IS200 Sport in BHP terms. Also, the IS220d seemed like hard work to drive!
  11. Hi, Been driving my IS300 Sat Nav since new, for 5 years now and was wondering should I upgrade (if it actually is an upgrade) to a 'new' IS250 SE-L. I use the car every day, all year long and do about 150 miles a day. Is the new car a big difference, should I go for it? Does it suffer with straight line stability at speed and inner tyre wear like the IS200/300 has done, or has this been all storted by Lexus? Is the auto box good? Anything else I should know?? By the way, I notice that a new feature on the 'new' IS250 SE-L is that the door mirrors automatically fold-in at the push of a button on the driver door handle when standing outside the car, cool
  12. Don't forget you can manually drive the IS300 from the up and down buttons on the steering wheel.
  13. My IS300 gets used all day every day and then spends all night in the garage until the next day, and I can honestly say that now even with 80k on the clock, she fires-up straight away. Not had any issues with her taking a long time to start, unless as I stated earlier that shes started from cold and then stopped before shes warmed-up.
  14. Do you start her up and then switch off (basically not running the engine to warm up) for example; start the engine to move a few feet on the drive or out the garage maybe? This will be the reason why it takes longer to fire-up. Does it still do it after a good long run?
  15. My IS300 is on the road everyday all around the country, no one spotted me yet?!?
  16. I'm still on the original pair of blades when I picked-up the car from new. They have covered 75000 miles of motoring over the last 4 years and are as good as new. I have considered treating the car to a new set and wondering if I should stick with the brand that came with the car or someone else? Ideas??
  17. I spotted my 1st OWNED Lexus this morning about 9am coming towards me, never seen it since the day I parted with it over 4 years ago Still it looks great :) Anyone on here now own it?
  18. I feel for you mate Similar thing happened around here when someone slashed two tyres per car on every car down the street (Done about 20 cars in all). I don't understand what the heck they get out of doing it?!? :tsktsk: One day when they buy their own car, hopefully something similar will happen to them.
  19. My IS300 came with Bridgestone Potenza from new and have ran on them ever since. An Aston Martin I drove for a week recently ran on the same which impressed me too. :D
  20. I filled up my IS300 at a Shell garage the other day and went inside to pay, and the cashier said '..Nice car, does it run on diesel or unleaded' :duh: Durr LOOK AT THE RECEIPT MATE !! YOUR SELLING ME THE FUEL !!!! :duh:
  21. If your travelling to Elite you may as well go the extra mile or two to W.I.M. Definately worth the distance, it is in an excellent location with state of the art equipment and proffessional personal one on one diagnostics. Not like at Elite, where they drive your car off and you loose all control. Once you geo. has been adjusted you will be amazed at how different your car will feel and handle, just like a new IS, no.... actually better than NEW
