  1. omg, I honestly cant believe what I’m reading in this topic. Just throw on the induction pipe, tell your insurance company, pay the dosh. Done. The only reason that new cars cant be modified heavily is due to the European V emissions laws when the car is made and under manufactures warranty. After that, who gives a dam as long as it passes the emissions tests. I mean, look at the amount of cars which the EGR does not work on now. Most are blocked.... which is technically a mod as its blocked off...
  2. Well, with all the upgrades and removal of the seats from my ATR, which are much lighter then the seats in the Lexus, over all gave me a 2second increase. Fact. it went from 7.2seconds down to 5.1seconds. (This is with an Accord Type R here, not a 250 Lexus) Your talking to some one whos done this and done loads of track time. If you did a standing start or 2 laps around a track, with two identical cars, one with and one with out all the junk, I can assure you, you WILL see a diffrence. 0.6 seconds is LOADS!
  3. I was compering against my ATR.... (the car in my profile photo) Also, it would cost you around the £500/£650 mark for a custom made Stainless Steal exhust system header for the Lexus to the CAT. But if you want an easy, free way to increase the 0-60 of your lexus.... take all the seats out, and all the sound proffing and install 2 bucket seats. Sorted... thats 2seconds gain right there easy.
  4. Thats expencive. When I had mine in the ATR, it did increase the performance. Overall all my mods increased the performance from 212hp to near 235/240hp. Some of the guys who dyno theirs had it shown on paper. So went off those claims lol. But on track I was quicker then most ATRs. Over all, imo, this would have minimal effect on a car that has not been re-tuned and is cloged up with carbon. But getting more air into the cylinder is definitly a yes. It really depends on what you want to do really. If you want to spend less and have a simular but less effect, get the K&N panel filter. If you want to go full on performance, why are you asking, get K&N over anything, any day. Things to remember, regually clean the filter. If it comes with the cover, put it on if you can. After a while I took mine off. The pipe and filter are also designed to make airflow less terbulent unlike the stock one. Most items on the Lexus are made for cost cutting, regulations and production. Mine for example can run at 204hp and yet get better fuel mpg, so why is it at 177hp? Money, regulations and Sales. I mean, look at my alloys, there crap lol (pains falling off). Over all, if you have the money, get it, then look at getting an uprages Stainless Steal Exhust from the manifold back with a 200cell cat. (meow) Also, put in RaceX Oil as this will also ensure your engine runs smooth and well. Other things to remember, brakes do stick and catch and slow you up, so free them up 1 time a year easily. Get better HT leads too... stock ones are crap.
  5. Looking to install some sexy 18" rims on my beast. (Manufacture sizing) Anyone recommend any to me? This looks sexy as..... anyone know the brand? My Lex is red, so I hope it will look good.
  6. Hi Everyone, I have a IS 220D SE with a Mark Levinson sound system installed. The rear sub is totally gone, and I need to replace it. With out removing it to find out the product numbers, are these the Mark Levinson speakers for my car or should I be looking elsewhere? I dont mind an upgrade but cba with removing existing plastic/metal. 7. Fuel does make a difference. We did test on the ATR owner’s forum and VPOWER was the best for the extra power, MPG, and cleaning engine. But, it does depend on the condition of the engine, and also for how long you have been using the fuels. The Octane rating in petrol for example makes a difference in patrol cars. On the other hand, diesel cars VPOWER just has cleaners in it from what I understand and a booster.
  8. Since my Honda I only ever used VPOWER from Shell. In my Honda this made my engine clean (I had to clean it first) and it made more power and kept it clean, although I always drove it like I stole it and so nothing in the engine really settled (no carbon build up). Now, with my BMW 330D it was caped in at least 3mm or more of black hardened carbon. So... after cleaning it there was still quite a bit in the inlet and EGR area.... now, many miles to wales and much VPOWER .... it was spotless.... Basically, with diesel cars, they don’t like short distance and low temps. Diesel cars are made to go long distance and with high temps and with something to pull. If you drive it hard it will always keep clean, but if you drive any car like a Sunday driver then I’m sorry but any engine will get clogged up and suffer. I only like buying motorway cars and cars that have been on track. Over time your only going to be spending the money you "save" in driving like a snale in loss of MPG and in parts that go pop like sensors and gummed up parts etc...
  9. my 5L bottle has lasted my ATR, BMW and now lexus... so probaly 6 years or more..
  10. Yes that is correct, over the year hand wash. I use Megs 5L bottle of shampoo plus it lasts me years. I also always use Poorboys EX-P Sealant as its a large bottle, easy to use and not costly and recomended by other detailers also. Best applyed by a machine but I suppose you can use a autosmart application spong. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/322479983778?chn=ps&dispItem=1&adgroupid=43106429403&rlsatarget=pla-517465521272&abcId=1128926&adtype=pla&merchantid=113747021&poi=&googleloc=9045718&device=c&campaignid=857233083&crdt=0 http://www.meguiars.co.uk/shop/shampoo-plus
  11. I use Poorboys Black hole polish, then Megs Ultimate liquid wax followed by Poorboys sealant. For removing swirls, I use Megs Ultimate compound or Poorboys swerl remover. All used with a Megs V2 DA. I find the dodo wax scratches the paint if its too hard or applied wrong or it gets excess build up on the pad. What colour car do you have?
  12. You need to put sealent on at the very end in order to seal all the work that you have done. This then makes the work you have done last for at least a year unless you use trafic film remover and a jet wash which would remove it all.
  13. Is there a way to update the entire firmware or software of the SATNAV/Blutooth unit? I have a feeling that it just needs updating. My friends HTC One M10 wont even connect to it.
