Hi Slucky, I also replaced the HID bulbs on my "new-to-me" 2006 IS250 with Osram D4S items a few months ago and so far they seem to have solved the problem of the lights turning off intermitantly. When researching the problem I came across multiple warnings about the number of counterfit Philips and Osram HID bulbs on the market which apparently are prone to early failure. I mention this just in case you cannot vouch 100% for the seller from whom you sourced the bulbs - you do not want to go to the trouble of replacing the ballast only to discover that the problem was your "new" bulb!!   2. Having read this thread I fitted the SGS units about two months ago and am delighted with the improvement. Until I fitted the new units I hadn't realised just how weak the original units were. Recommended.

  4. It's the high pressure fuel pump for the direct injection. Similarly, mine makes quite a loud ticking noise - particularly noticeable when the engine cover is removed. Have you tried using a good quality fuel injection cleaner additive in your petrol? It might be worth trying with regard to your lumpy idle. Declan.
  5. Have you checked the small fuse panel under the dash on the drivers side. I believe there is a separate 30amp fuse for the drivers seat located there. From your description of what happened it would certainly appear to be a fuse failure but you will need to find out what caused the problem to avoid a repeat. Hope this helps.
  6. My understanding is that you can remove the throttle body for cleaning without any problems. However you must NOT physically open the flap as this is what causes issues. If you are using the carb cleaner to spray the MAF sensor I would be very careful and would advise that you get a specific cleaner for the job - one that states that it does not leave any residue is required. Wurth make one which I believe can be bought online. I have noticed the same lumpiness at startup these last few very cold mornings but it only lasts for a second or two and I'm still on the original 2006 spark plugs at 88K miles!
