  1. Mick's garage sell mats - albeit now with the logo. These ones are their best quality and are tailored for the IS300H: https://www.micksgarage.com/d/car-mats/lexus/lexus-is/is-iii-2013-onwards/products/3640426-11227/newfloormat-floormat-prestige-black---16-lexus-gs250--2013-2013-standard
  2. These are my MPG stats over 65 fills and 4.5 years: Minimum: 31.7 MPG Maximum: 47.85 MPG Average: 40.19 MPG The above are from my own calculations based on brim-brim checks; the trip computer is on average 7% optimistic (ranges from 5 - 10%). I have also found the range estimate pessimistic - typically I could get 50 miles in addition to what is reported. Also, in the winter, the consumption is worse and most especially on short trips. You can help this greatly by not switching on the heating (I know ...). When stationary in traffic on cold days, you will find that the engine runs constantly to keep the heat going. Reduce the temp to "Lo" and the engine will cut out. If you have electric seat heaters (and no rear-seat passengers), use these instead! I have 17" wheels with Bridgestone tyres on the back and Dunlops on the front (don't ask ...)
  3. Not sure why mirrors closing is a thing - I didn't think they can set configured to close automatically on the IS300H as they can be on other cars?
  4. I am reassured that Len's post is getting so many likes in comparison to no likes on Erics. For a moment there I thought I was in the wrong forum 🙄 Anyway, in Dublin on Wednesday, petrol crept to €2.05(£1.72) / Litre in some stations. Diesel - which is normally cheaper in Ireland because of subsidies - climbed to €2.15. Yesterday, the government reduced the excise duties by 20 cent per litre on petrol and 15 cent per litre on diesel - to last until the end of August. Contrary to expectations, prices did actually go down and I paid €1.85(£1.55) / litre yesterday. It might have been down to the huge media interest in fuel prices and accusations of price gouging. Still a lot more than the €1.72(£1.45) I paid at the start of February and a whole lot more than the €1.20(£1.01) I paid in June '20 when they couldn't give the stuff away because of the lockdowns.
  5. It's probably too late now, but new tyres have coloured lines that run along the circumference. The distance from the line to the edge of the tyre is important; even more important us that the opposing tyre should be a mirror of the one on the other side of the axle. If they are not, then you could get the wheel pull exactly as you described it. More here: https://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk/forum/index.php?/topic/165-new-tyres-and-their-markings/
  6. Apologies for the sarcasm John - it's just too hard to resist the internet equivalent of "you should read the manual" when the opportunity arises. Those that live in glass houses and all that ... 😇
  7. Why was the wiring bad? Was there some work in this area before (e.g. crash repair, some wiring work done that intefered with the DRL, etc) or did it just "go bad" for no good reason?
  8. Or alternatively, just drop the 3.5 V6 from the GS into the engine bay. Simples 😉
  9. I think the interval in 25K miles (dependent on servicing regime) so yes, overdue. Not difficult for private garage - although I would insist on them using Lexus oil
  10. This is not Ready Mode. Page 209 in the manual reveals all - do look it up 😉
  11. Extract from this thread: link ... which in turn came from the is300h battery problems thread: (My battery level is indicated above) If you say "when the car has been left for a day the voltage has been 10.4 v", then according to the chart, you, eh, definitely need a new battery asap.
  12. Unfortunately you still can't replace trust - as per earlier examples: engine and diff oil (esp with low mileages), oil filter (have to take it apart to check paper filter - and even then, how would you know for sure?), etc, etc.
  13. That's a reasonable point Phil - but in fairness, you were suggesting the matter be brought to the Police in an earlier response in this thread. I would have strong doubts that this was a simple mistake and would have raised the matter at a level where I felt it would make an impact, and for me, that would be with Lexus itself. Having said that, its also nice to be nice and I often go out of my way to provide positive feedback when it is deserved - which it very often is. To be clear, I have never had any reason to doubt the service I have received in either my Toyota or Lexus garages I used here in Dublin.
  14. Good question! As far as I remember, I got it from someone on this forum who - probably - got if from the Lexus tech site. Not sure of its value anymore if it has been superseded by something else! Having said all that, make a start here: www.lexus.eu
  15. Hopefully it will signal to them that they can't do this in future - to you or others.
  16. Any updates on how the ES compares to the IS (as per list above)? And yes, at this rate of inflation, you should have kept the IS yourself and got some extra funding to cover the ES. After about a year, you could have sold the IS for about a £billiontey squintillion and then used the funds to pay off the ES. And some thing else you fancy - e.g. a private island or a football club 😄
  17. Yes. The only downside is that they don't look as good. The 17" wheels on the Executive might be a compromise and were an option (I'm guessing, a free one) on these from new.
  18. That's very clear - and also very different to the other official one. I'm not an expert but am reasonably confident that replacing a 1 year-old pollen filter in a car that has only covered 3+K miles is a waste of time and resources. Maybe the new schedule was dictated by someone who wasn't technical or had an overwhelming desire to have an very simple servicing schedule that couldn't be misinterpreted. Even though it was. In any case, if you were charged for something that is hidden from view and wasn't actually fitted, then it does little to impart confidence in everything else. How would you know if the diff oil was replaced for instance? Or the spark plugs? If these are not replaced, you will probably not notice - most especially in the short-medium term. It's all about trust and when that goes, things tend to break down. Literally.
  19. Not sure about the NX, but I found the same on my IS300H and set the sensitivity to minimum. I'd still consider it to be too sensitive however ☹️
  20. It's strange that they have changed the schedule to a mileage one to a combination mileage/time-based one. The one I attached is an official Lexus document, do you have a copy of the newer one applicable to your car you can share here? I very much doubt that these degrade when unused (as yours would have largely been over 3K+ miles) unless you are talking about something left in place for, maybe, 5-10 years. Maybe this is the source of the confusion. Or maybe the mechanic just couldn't have been ar$ed ... Oh, and I wouldn't take this to the Police. Lexus yes; taking it to the police, eh, hello?
  21. You might find some members on here who have an IS300H with the 16" wheels that you are looking for that might be interested in a swap for your bigger ones. I'm thinking of Jayw13702 ...
  22. Indeed. I've just checked the official service schedule for the IS300H (attached) and - if I'm reading it correctly - it looks like it should be replaced every 15K miles in normal conditions, and every 7.5K miles in dusty conditions. On a related note, I replaced this filter on my IS300H with an official part. When I removed the old pollen filter, there were arrows on the leading edge that pointed down. Alongside a message stating they should be facing up. According to the service record, it was last replaced by a Lexus dealer ... Official IS service schedule.pdf
  23. But were you charged for it? If not, it didn't need to be changed unless those miles we're all covered at 1 MPH (as in, car running for LOTS of hours). If you were charged, then you should name & shame. Like others on here, I would find it very hard/impossible to believe their story. Your friend could not tell if the oil filter was changed because it's the replaceable paper filter type - the visible filter body is not changed, just the insides. As for oil, my IS300H had an oil change 7,000 miles ago and the oil today looks as good as new. Thing is, they would get away with all this stuff with your level of driving with little fear of being caught. If I were a betting man (I'm not - I drive a Lexus!) then I'd say there's little chance that they did very much at all. A friend who is also a mechanic worked in a VW garage in London in the 90's and he said there were certain colleagues who were all about making time. They would make a mess of any vaguely non-routinely work they may be assigned (e.g. rattles) that would attract an actual hourly rate and therefore get all the simple stuff that had manufacturer set hours like standard servicing or brake pads, etc. The parts often ended up either in the bin or in their bags to bring home for onward sale. But the hours - and parts - got charged to the customer... If your friend didn't spot the old filter, do you think you'd have got a call from the garage when they discovered their mistake, telling you about their oversight and asking you to drop it in when convenient? No? I'd report to Lexus, tell them you're not happy and then ask them to get you proof the service was done or your money back.
  24. On my 2014 Executive, these are supplied and are located behind the verticle cover on the LHS of the boot.
