  4. best wishes - have a great day/weekend!
  5. Blimey! can't say i'd be prepared to pay all that extra for the 'H' from what i've read up to now...
  6. Hi Abbie, I wouldn't trust National Tyres - they couldn't get one of my wheel nuts off so just balanced the tyre with it on! :tsktsk: Anyway.....thats a different topic. Tracking is very different from Geometry. Tracking is very basic and just makes sure that the steering is not off centre. Geometry is a complete check and adjustment of all the angles on your car and can (as in my case) transform your car if the angles are out. Geometry is ALOT more through and complex. I could try to (poorly explain with my limited knowledge) all the adjustments and things - but its much better to link to the maestros website - Tony: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/anthoney.bones/ He explains everything. Good Luck! ← excellent! - full explanation, just what i was looking for - thanks Anees :D National Tyres were very good, can't fault them - took real care with the alloys, said they could do the tracking but i'd be better off going to a 'specialist'. you can only go on your own experience with a company tho can't you? :duh: anyway, i'm booked in at CTS wheels & tyres in Derby for Tues morning. he said the most i would end up paying would be £80 plus vat for front & rear (tracking? i think?? ) & rear camber - all adj reqd are inc in the £80. so that sounded pretty good. let's see if my rocket ship drives even better after she's been tweeked! :winky:
  7. very interesting viewing & seriously shocking - customer service, what's that?! their office staff def don't know what it is... bad practice in abundance & i'm amazed they don't get punched more often!!
  8. better change your order to 2 then!! :winky: talk about greedy...
  9. hmmm - perhaps another use for my overweight cats!! here puss puss...
  10. got new rear tyres fitted yesterday & i need to get tracking/geometry sorted out now. 'National' did my tyres but suggested more specialist for tracking & recommended CTS wheels & tyres, Derby. They used to be on mansfield road but have recently moved to alfreton road. (& got a £50k new bit of kit for this sort of thing...i'm just soooo technical!) anybody had any experience with them? is tracking the same as geometry? cheers Abbie
  11. very good idea! unsure about tracker as don't think i'd want it back anyway. these gadgets tho - right up my street. any pitfalls we should know about???
  12. Right, the deed is done........have been mulling over the new IS for the last couple of days and was sorely tempted to go for a very nice 54 plated astral black IS300 !!...but today common sense prevailed and I have placed an order for the new IS250, sounds by all accounts November delivery time...waiting for colours / options. ← wow! very impressive!! are you the 1st order on yours dealers books? keep us posted when you get to know more... is it just me, or is there a common theme developing here??? the more we look at the new IS, the more we like?? :winky: i sure do! me WANT one NOW!! never thought i'd be considering saying goodbye to my fab IS300 - i'll have to keep practising tho, still bit painful to think about it just yet - i might just be ready to wave her off come mid 2006 when she's 3 years old...
  13. happy motoring - i think...soooo sad when you say goodbye to the beloved Lex...(especially when the new owner goes n rights her off!!! but that's another story )
  14. but the self-levelling is just soooooo coooool - u can't miss out on it?! ;)
  15. welcome & enjoy - goes without saying, because you will!!
  16. naughty?! - so 16.5k aint too bad after all...??? i'm getting my new ones fitted 2moz, £132 each inc fitting etc - not too bad really. thanks 4 ur input anyway :D
  17. ok - i've read thru loads more threads & would be VERY grateful if anyone could confirm: rear pirelli p zero rossos have lasted 16,500 miles - this isn't too bad a wear rate? on my is300, it would be best to stick with exactly the same tyre when i replace them or handling may be affected? if i want to change tyre/make from pirelli - change all 5? many thanks in advance :D
  18. has this happened - setting up 'tyre review thread'??? i've been looking thru 'search' for hours on tyre info - i'm getting bits of useful info - but i'd just love to ask what i want to know, but i'm a bit scared i'll be shouted at for not searching for an answer myself...!!!
  19. very, very impressive my good man! a real top class bachelor pad me thinks - or a love nest if you already have someone to share! hmmm, can't help thinking that work on the house will now come to a grinding holt as you have another toy/project to play with...
  20. whoops! even worse - i didn't realise they were the diesel figures i was quoting... :iraqi-info-minister: i never paid much attention in skool either!! thanks for explaining aido :ooh-ducky:
  21. sure does! i wasn't too sure from the 1st set of pics but now i've seen others aswell & given them a good check out - i like lots! :D now as i'm a bit of a numpty , could somebody pls explain in laymans (or should that be layWoman's ;) ) terms what this actually means for performance/driving experience??? new IS250 - 400nm @ 2000-2400 RPM against my current IS300 - 288nm @ 3800 RPM how can the diff in torque be THAT much!! is the new one a rocket ship?? or am i missing something (apart from a techincal side to my brain!) as i said, forgive me for driving a Lex & not knowing basic stuff like this...
  22. buy lots n lots n lots of salt/grit stuff & spread very liberally!! when i reverse out of my drive, we're on a very slight uphill & any ice/snow causes havoc. press your 'snow' button & just go as slow & steady as poss to start off with...either that, or always have a few beefy mates on hand ready to push!!
  23. oh me, oh my...i had my 1st experience of this today - heart in the mouth & a chill all over was felt!! :o traction control on, as always, but i don't think i'd realised just how cold it was & how slippery the roads were pulled out from a side road onto a main road, had to push it a bit cos a car was coming - rear end absolutely flew away from me, this buzzer/warning sound shouted at me from the dash & i turned into it without even realising i'd reacted - then we were running straight again! :D prob about 0.5 seconds but felt like a lifetime... damn good job i'd finished applying my lipgloss - would of made a right flippin mess :P us ladies don't REALLY do that you know guys, it's all a big lie made up by you men!! <_<
  24. don't think i'd go for it again either...cost us about £200 i think.
  25. well chuffed for you mate! (i'm even grinning in unison at this end :D ) many happy miles in front of you - enjoy!
