  1. Hi guys, does anyone know a good meeting point around the Silverstone area where we could all meet and drive in to the circuit together ? Would be pretty call to go into the event in convoy.

  3. @BTCC_ Racer I had mine replaced under warranty, they only replaced the broken side and they used a new gasket from memory. They can be welded back up by a decent welder. The ticking noise did disappear once warm, maybe depends how cracked your manifold is ? If your car isn't under warranty, this could be a golden opportunity to put aftermarket manifolds on or GSF manifolds like another member has done, as well as potentially replace the engine mounts and start motor as a precaution. There is no real detriment to running the car with a cracked manifold. Just an annoying noise. Comes down to how much money you want to spend on a solution
  4. Sounds like the drivers side manifold to me. Mine did the same, ticked on cold start. If you wound the window down and listened whilst driving from cold and warming up, it started to tick under heavier load accelerating up to speed and then went away at light load once the speed was reached and maintained in a 30mph zone. I've attached an image of how they fail, OEM are made from some form of steel.
  5. Just to double check and confirm with everyone. I saw on the car display information that we have between 07:00 to I think 09:30 on the day to get in and park up at our stand.
  6. We currently have a stand, I've sent the code to 6 people, myself makes up the 7th. If anyone knows anyone else that would like to join. Please get them to get in touch before 10th March. The 14th March is the cut off date so I've factored in some wiggle room time.
  7. In the case of the F cars, you'd have to see it in person and make a judgement that way if it's the right one for you. Even if you don't buy it, at least you've had a trip out. As long as the service history is decent. Check if the waterpump has ever been done as well as the radiator, if not, factor them into the budget as well as the front lower control arm bushes. I was 23 when I purchased my ISF back in 2019 and I've looked after it a lot better than the previous owner who had a Sugar Honey Ice Tea paint job done on the alloys. Echoing a previous post on the white one, a lot of the mods are reversible/changeable if you don't like them, the alloys are expensive items and could be sold to fund a set of OEM ISF alloy's. Could even find GSF or RCF alloys If the budget is stretchable, the Mesa Red one currently on auto trader looks very tasty 👀

  9. @B1RMA The first Japfest I went to was Castle Combe May 2015. It's the best one I've been to for the reasons you stated above, excluding the police checks obviously.

  11. Hi Rob, pretty much mate, we're allocated a plot of land to display our cars on and to make our own for the day. We can take Banners, Gazebo's etc as long as the the risk assessment paperwork is completed for it. BBQ's are allowed as long as they're contained and hosed with water once finished with.

  14. Closing date for Stand applications is March 14th. I think as long as the stand application is done, which I'll do tomorrow. You just buy a ticket and quote a number/code which I'll be given tomorrow which should add you to the stand. I'll find out more information tomorrow.

  17. Hi all, I'm willing to sort the F club stand for Japfest. From looking on the website, I'll receive a code that anyone wishing to join uses when booking their tickets and it places them in the stand. We need a minimum of 5 cars for the stand, there is no maximum. Before I start the process, who is wanting to come ? I was thinking to use 'Lexus F Club' as the name for the stand, any other ideas are welcome

  19. @Ethan93 Hi and welcome to the forum, you're not Ethan from carthrottle by any chance ? Echoing @RichGS11, there isn't any horror stories that I know of in terms of rust, my roof channels/gutters have gone slightly rusty underneath the roof strips but it is an easy job to do for a body shop. Aftermarket exhaust manifolds wise, PPE have recently made a set with CAT's inside and won't require a tune, otherwise you'd have to get a tune which I've read removes fault logging. You can have CAT's added to other manifolds and use lead extensions on the O2 sensors to avoid a check engine light. Front lower suspension arm rear bushes go soft and cause inner tyre wear through play and dynamic toe under heavy braking, which is currently happening on mine. The bushes used on the RCF and GSF can be used on ISF and are said to be better, otherwise RR-Racing or FIGS make aftermarket solutions. Other than that it's the valley plate leak which I'm dreading but no cases have occurred in the UK. I found looking on the American forums is best for modifications, they received around 5000ish ISF's over its production span and have larger following and modification options compared to the circa 200 the UK received. Manifolds are my next modification, upgrading to 245 section front and 275 section rear is very popular and proven a good improvement state side.   20. Anyone else notice the heads have been flipped ? Exhaust ports and manifold are inside the V, not on the outside on the blue cam cover engine. Dead interesting.   21. If you purchase an earlier car without the LSD and want to stay in the OEM parts bin. The non torque vectoring differential for the RCF and GSF is the same as the OEM LSD diff for the later ISF's (2010 onwards). Even the housing and mounting points are the same from vague memory 🤔, a couple of our fellow F'ers state side have successfully swapped them over. The later suspension is also transferable, you have to change the rear bump stops to accommodate. 2013-2014 cars received a different rear suspension layout from reading around. But springs and shocks are interchangeable across years. As mentioned above, radiator swap is preferable, I did mine on the drive at home and it wasn't in the best shape externally at 11 and a bit years old. I had a cracked manifold but was covered under warranty, sandly I missed the trick of the GSF manifold swap when it was done. And a good service history although it's hard to be picky with so little of them in the UK. Mine is a 2008, I can't say I've personally been lusting for the LSD under normal and spirited road use. Although my front lower wishbone bushes have recently past their best and need changing, I'm getting inner tyre wear so the RR-Racing USRS Bushes may be getting ordered soon. Whilst Later cars do get the nicer headlights, stereo finish, LSD, different suspension, I wouldn't discount the earlier models entirely. All are excellent packages, just wrapped a little differently and can be made the same.
  22. To echo @BillNick I'd be surprised if it isn't covered by warranty. To hear RCF's are affect by the valley plate as well, indicates to me that LC500's will suffer the same issue.
  23. @Ubwa That's the first I've ever heard of a 2UR-GSE to suffer a cracked head. I'd of thought with full Lexus service history it would be covered under the Lexus relax warranty. @hockeyedwards I recall seeing a thread on Community F Facebook group or clublexus that a GS F has suffered a valley plate leak state side. Will need more research to verify though
  24. That's a rather strange scenario. From a cross section of the cylinder head, is that a coolant passage by the spark plug tunnel, might be a crack there? I've never known an engine push coolant past the spark plug if the head gasket has failed from my experience. Never know though, but I'd of thought you'd experience very rough running before this was found and a CEL for misfire. I wouldn't of thought the engine would need to come out for diagnosis. The logical step from my view, would be to remove the coil pack, soak up all the coolant and let the engine idle from cold to warm, maybe light revs to increase flow and see if it fills up again, if so, from where. Might be for some strange reason, it got in there by accident, maybe someone tripped or lurched with an open coolant bottle and it spilled in there during a service, would be mad though. It shouldn't need to come out to take the head off if it's like the ISF. Once you remove the airbox, there's plenty of space to remove the timing chain cover first then remove the head to investigate. Any other suggestions fellow F'ers ?
