Guys, I get Error 1 when I try and play a CD in my car. Any ideas what it means? Also......I am trying out a Tape Adapter in my car (at the moment it is hooked up to my PDA.) The trouble I am having is that the sound is only comming through the speakers on the passenger side - not from the drivers side. When I use the radio however it is fine (sound from both sides). Any ideas? Thanks.

Merry Christmas all!, :D In a ScarFace type thread - I thought it would be interesting to see if other LOC members had computer desktops as messy as mine! Please put your desktop up and let us have a look! I am so disorganised that I just shove everything on the desktop and then when it is full I make a folder on the desktop and shove everything into it and start again!! Here is my desktop! (Its tidy compared to normal) The Wallpaper is Duncans car - it is like the Holy Grail of what can be achieved by a fellow Greenie! Whats yours like?

I use VideoLan too! I have yet to find a file it cannot play! Bet it could even play a Word Document! :P

Rav, I got the iPod one (PodGear) and it is really bad. Maybe if you get a better quality one it will be better? I just thought the with it being the iPod one the quality will be decent - you also need to paint it black! :D Regarding SatNav software - the market is almost exclusively geared towards the PocketPC/Mobile devices due to the convenience. I think that in the future probably less companies will develop SatNav software for the Laptop since their is not the demand for it Already Destinator pulled out of making an official Destinator 3 for the PC (thats why Ninja Monkey has been busy making his own using the SDK) and I have read that Co-Pilot also may stop making a version for the PC if the new version doesn't sell well.. Hence the fact that I am willing to ACTUALLY BUY IT! ;) Anyway.....Good Luck! :D

Thanks mate. I'll keep everyone informed (actually more like I'd be begging for help ) Co-Pilot is expensive (my IPAQ 4150 and Bluetooth GPS) cost the same as the software does on its own! But my main reason for wanting a Car PC (besides being cool) is the customisable Sat Nav so hopefully it is worth it. The main problem with the IS regarding a CarPC is the age old Aux-in input issue. I have tried a Tape Adapter (hated it wurring around - got annoying), FM Transmiter and Modulator and they were all poor. Gordon has an FM Modulator in his car that he said works well - so I might give that ago! I don't really want to replace the Head Unit (I like it, and it will be expensive), so I will continue to investigate. I have read in the knowledge section of this site that you can add RCA inputs by doing soldering and cutting some wires - but I'm not really confident enough to try that! Thanks

I thought that when I pressed the Snow button the ride hight would go up a few mm and spikes would come out of the tyres (like the Bond Movie!) :P :D

Regarding Destinator 3 by Ninja Monkey I have tried and it does look great. BUT..... The routes it produces are rubbish. To go from my house to Bradford it takes me through some really weird places. I have tried using both the Maps you can download free and the "proper" Destinator 3 maps - both routes are all over the place. Also, some street names are missing . How it is a fantastic peice of work the faults have nothing to do with the person that adapted it. I do seriously think that Co-Pilot Live Laptop 8 will be as good as Tom Tom 3 when it is relased in the UK. The 3D Maps (very important feature for me) look fabulous. Look here for some info and screenshots. The PocketPC version has got great reviews and this is supposed to be similar.

Regarding Sat Nav for Laptop/Car PC. The best software to use (when it is released should be) Co-Pilot Live Laptop 8. It should be fantastic with 3D Mapts (like Tom Tom) and the latest mapping data. The US version has just been released and the European version should be out in January. It will be expensive but I think probably worth it. Infomap Navigator also looks excellent value for money and has some good reviews. The latest V4 is supposed to be a big improvement on the previous version. I have had plans to make my CarPC for ages. I have had the Xenerc 700TSV Touchscreen for about 6 months! I am looking into an Antec Aria Cube Case so I can use a MicoATX Motherboard with it. The biggest expenditure is the 150W Opus PSU costs about £150. Just need to get the time to do it! :) I was gonna use my laptop - but I've decided against it now. (It anyone wants to buy a Dell C640 P4 2.0Ghz Laptop send me a PM! :D)

SNAP!! I was stuck in a car park and the car was sliding all over the place. I had Traction Control and Snow Mode on - it was still hard to get grip. Maybe I miss understood what snow mode does! The car wanted to go sidewards all the time!! I was really surprised how bad it was! I was getting terrible feedback through the brake pedal too! Ironically when I turned the Traction Control and Snow Mode off i started to move!!

In the cup holder! I also have a bluetooth headset - but I keep forgetting it and leave it at home! :D

I don't think I'll be using this guy again. I have been going to the same place for the past 5 years - but ever since I have had the Lexus he has seemed different in some way. Wouldn't say he was envious or anything - the guy has a porsche boxer. Some of the advice he has given me in recently has been crap. I asked him about main dealer service history and he said that its not important - its not like its a prestige car like a Porsche, Jaguar or Merc! :o :duh: I think he sees a Lexus as a souped up Toyota Carina! :P

Thanks for the replys! I went back to the garage with my logbook at showed him that the manufacturer is LEXUS not Toyota. He was under the impression that the Car was a a Toyota Lexus IS200. (With the Make being Toyota and Lexus IS200 being the model). After I showed him all this and explained that they are a totally different brand, he was very apologetic and gave me a new MOT! RESULT! :D Thanks to all that replied.

Guys, Just got my car back from its MOT (flew through :D ) The garage has put "Toyota" under the entry that says make. I queried this and said that it was a LEXUS not a TOYOTA. He said that it is still made by Toyota so it is classed as a Toyota. Should I be concerned? Will it affect me when I go and get my Road Tax in the future? Thanks, Anees

Slightly off Anyone know a supplier that has a K & N filter in stock? The place I ordered mine from off eBay says that they are all out of stock and that K & N are not sending anymore until the New Year :( apsaauga - I don't feel my problem is as bad as yours. Its more an irratiation. Anyway..... I get my car back tommorow from the BodyShop so I will try a few of the suggestions.

Hi mate, When I got my service done (the previous owner did it for me as a condition of sale) from Lexus Exeter it cost £595 I think including changing the timing belt. He showed me the receipt. At the time I thought that the Lexus had to have the belt changed at 60K - didn't realise that it was actually 100k :) Hope that helps.
