  1. My 07 RX400 came with a DVD covering the whole of Europe. I bought a DVD of Ebay that is one of a set of 4, covering the UK. It went in just fine and has removed the block on entering a destination when moving. Just make sure it is an original Lexus disk and up to date. Apparently people in other parts of Europe buy a full 4 disk set, keep the one they want and sell off the others.
  2. I know this is an old topic - but I'm thinking of updating my sat nav DVD and saw this; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-Lexus-original-navigation-DVD-E1D-2016-2017-Ver-1-West-Europe-NEW-/262408429892?hash=item3d18c2e144:g:n7wAAOSw~oFXIOTt Has anybody tried one of these and does it allow input on the move?
  3. I have an 07 RX400H I had my sat nav updated by inserting a newer disc and then putting the old one back. It removes the greyed out functions as stated above and makes the system far more useable. It really is as simple as putting the new disc in, waiting until it updates the firmware and taking it out again and putting the old back. However - it isn't really firmware as it is volatile memory. I had to have a new wiper motor fitted and they diconnected the power so I have lost the update. So - if there is anybody near Yorkshire with the newer disk who wouldn't mind ending it to me for 10 mins.......
  4. I did start a separate thread about Lexus in Bradford. Whilst the first Lexus I had from them in 2005 was a decent experience. the current set up on Station Road is simply dreadful. Sales experience poor and the PDI not even carried out properly. The Dealer Principle did not even trouble to respond. BMW next? Clearly we have had different experiences. I can only report that I took mine in for a service last week and got the usual first class service.
  5. Interesting thread. I am on my second Lexus, both from Lexus in Bradford. The dealership has moved three times and I think changed ownership once. I have always had far better service than I ever got when I ran BMWs.
  6. If I 'nurse' my 400 cross country I can get around 38. Hit the motoway, stay around 70 then about 30.
  7. Spoke to my dealer today. He tells me that the functions are only available on UK models from mid 2008.
  8. Just checked on mine; Destination Address Town and then it is the last option on the list, bottom left of screen.
  9. It isn't immediatley obvious - search by Town and you should see the post code option in there. As already stated it is only to 4 digits, but if you then know the streetname it will help.
  10. As I understand it if you have a removable towbar fitted you lose your spare wheel.
  11. I did use a Double Density disk. I solved the problem by putting the original back in the car!
  12. I did once try a copy disk in my RX300. It wirked fine until I was in the middle of Birmingham - than I got the same error message. I took the copy out! It is a dual density disk - they hold twice the data.
  13. I find that a lot of CDs don't have the info on them. I never use originals in the car so if I get broken into I don't lose them as well! So I burn a copy for the car. The software I use downloads the CD info from the internet and includes it onto the CD I'm burning. Then it appears when you play in the car.
  14. http://www.coastaletech.com/LOCKPICK_MAIN.htm Is a similar device. Not tried one but would love to!
  15. This doesn't do anything on my RX400h. Shame because it would have been useful.
  16. I had tyre issues with my 300. Lexus checked the tracking and said it was fine - but the wear continued. I have in-laws who have a small independent garage. I took the car to them. My wife's cousin told me that a good mechanic can feel the wear - he ran his hands over the tyres. He then put the tracking 'thingy' on and measured it. The setting was within the tolerance in his book. However because he had felt the tyres and seen the problem he was able to guestiamate what the setting should be. He reset - and I had no more problems. If you ive in West Yorkshire I can direct you there!!!!!
  17. Has anybody experience of; http://www.coastaletech.com/basic_lockpick1.htm I've just taken delivery of an RX400h and am interested!! I had a 300 for 3 years and the frustration of the 'movement' detector never wore off.
  18. I spent some time asking fitters if my SEL could have the Mark Levinson muted. Most said no. Time on the web eventually identified the wire that mutes - and it does work. I got the little man in to fit a Parrot, showed him the diagram and description of the mute wire. He fitted it, and it works fine. He didn't manage to route the sound through the speakers and suggested that with the Parrot if the sound is amplified it often becomes distorted and so preferred to fit a separate speaker. As I already had a Nokia speaker left over from a pervious install he used that. System works fine.
  19. I only use copies in mine. I am aware of people who have had their cars broken into and the originals stolen so I keep the originals at home. You should never put a disc into a car CD player that has any sort of lable - they do peel, especially when warm, and do clog up the mechanism. Like others on here I simply write on with indellible marker. Lastly - I'm intrigued by the suggestion that if a copy may have caused a problem then the owner is liable - where does it say in the handbook not to use copies?
  20. I tried that with no success. I have heard that different brands of DVD blank disks can be 'iffy' in some players. What brand DVD did you use?
  21. I have TomTom 5 running on an Ipaq 2210 for the days I use my wife's car, no sat nav! It works fine. If you want more detailed maps then Memory Map is very versatile - it will even use scanned in maps when you know how. Ian A fan of emule!
  22. OK - nobody does a cable! I eventually had a Parrot CK3100 fitted and there is a mute - it is the grey wire! I was advised that although they might be able to get the sound out of the system it would probably sound poor as it gets over-amplified. I trusted them and left a small extra speaker in. Using the grey wire mute works well as it mutes the stereo but leaves the sat nav direction!
  23. Can't help as such. I have a 300 and have a GPS aerial for a Gatso device on the dashboard. That works fine. I have also played with a TomTom in the car - also works fine so there doesn't seem to be any signal blocking in a 300.
