  1. Agreed - if we keep pushing perhaps they will action some of it... Cheers, Paul
  2. Wow, the software intern is going to be very busy indeed! Now they have Lexus Link+ to fix, CANbus encryption to back port into old models, Radly internet radio to resurrect, wireless android auto to implement on new vehicles, and now some upgrades to the UX software! On a more serious note, I have filed many detailed bug reports for the infotainment systems and not a single one got actioned, so it would be wise to have "realistic" expectations for software improvements. Paul
  3. Sorry to hear of these continued thefts. I would suggest everyone effected posts on here: https://mag.lexus.co.uk/car-security-advice-and-tips/ It will certainly increase the embarrassment factor for Lexus by having this discussed so publicly on their own website, and perhaps help them to consider to do the right thing. Paul
  4. Adrian, if the vehicle was performing below expectations and the after care was "abysmal", why did you buy another Lexus? I'm not trolling.. this is a serious question. Paul
  5. Amazingly the old app used to have "send to car"..... but then there has been a lot of regressions lately. Possibly the old app would never have worked on an RZ?
  6. And indeed, many of the vehicles at risk are still under the original manufacturer warranty. If you include the Lexus Relax warranty (anyone with a MK4 RX on here feeling relaxed???) then most CANbus vulnerable vehicles could still be under some form of cover. Paul
  7. It should show you where the vehicle is. At least that much should work. Send destination to car used to be a feature in the old app but it is no longer there.
  8. @Phil Davis and other with gen 4 RX, what are your plans? I feel I am heading rapidly into the situation where I have a vehicle on PCP (that I was planning to buy at the end of the term) that I may not actually be able to insure for the final year of the deal - and if I can it will be several multiple thousands to do so. Paul
  9. You are right of course that all vehicles are at risk of theft, but as @ColinBarber mentioned above, is seems Lexus vehicles made before the CAN was encrypted are particularly vulnerable. Your 2024 model will be encrypted, but I guess your 2022 is not. At some point I suspect the thieves will learn which model years are worth targeting and which are worth leaving alone....
  10. Eko, What model year is the RX? Does it have the lexus link app? Can you try to track it? Did you have the CANbus protection plate installed? Paul
  11. You probably need to store numbers in your address book in international format. +44..... 4g and 5g calls come in with international format and the Lexus software is too basic to figure this out. Paul
  12. I don't know why you are complaining! This is actually the latest in Lexus security features. Even if you defeat the CANbus you still can't get in the vehicle!!! Genius indeed. 🙂 Paul
  13. I think strictly speaking they are doing pre alpha level testing (these bugs are found within seconds of starting the app and any developer should see them immediately) but in a beta test (live user) environment. Crazy. Paul
  14. Yeah - I think the recent update fixes some things for MM19 systems but not MM21. It's an astonishing failure of software development, quality control and release management. It would make a good case study. Paul
  15. It gave me back trip information! I'm only missing about 3 features now that I used to have in the old app! Paul
  16. You can't. The intern hasn't managed to program that part of the app yet. Paul
  17. Nick, did ghost stop them getting inside the car, or just stop them starting it? Thanks, Paul
  18. Did you do the previous updates over the air, or usb stick? Paul
  19. Hi Ronnie - I disagree with you on this one. Please see what you think to my perspective: Yes, many makes of vehicle get stolen. But there are several problems here regards Toyota vehicles specifically: 1. Toyota models (not just Lexus) have an extremely vulnerable wiring loom that CAN (see what I did there...) be rapidly accessed with almost no damage to the car. This is more vulnerable than other car makers. At least with Range Rover a hole needs to be cut in the body to get to the wiring. And JLR have been doing a recall to add some security into the CAN. 2. Look at the statistics. RX is very high up on theft statistics, as is (gen 1) NX in France I believe. The CAN theft issue came to light in Japan in July 2021 with the theft of a Lexus. This seems to mean that vehicles with a known security flaw were being sold for almost 2 years after the issue was reported. And it's not that vehicles are just getting stolen from "dodgy places". Thieves are steering vehicles directly from people drive ways. So how can people be more vigilant in parking that on their own drive way? 3. My car is still under its original 3 year warranty, has a massive security flaw and Lexus is, so far, doing very little to improve matters other than putting on two small pieces of steel. I guess they are too busy working on wireless android auto or finding a new intern to work on Lexus Link Plus. And if I buy a car and the manufacturer refuses to engage in problems in a timely manner, am I really not going to let this influence my decision to buy another car from them? What happend to the quality that the brand used to display? Anyway, sorry for the rant, I am happy to agree to disagree with your perspective! Paul
  20. I believe it stops them starting the car but I don't know - and would like to - if it stops them from being able to unlock the vehicle. Paul
  21. These are two theft methods. The key fob boosting I'd called a relay attack. The CANbus method doesn't require the key at all.
  22. Your comments are now live on that Lexus web page, with the usual informative reply from our favourite car maker!
  23. Thanks, Charles. MM19 then. I was wondering if MM19 was totally broken with LL+, but apparently not. Paul
