  1. Was everything OK after the change? It will help us to have the confidence to do our own battery changes when needed.🙃
  2. I was looking to buy an ES from a Northern lexus dealer a couple of years ago. No part-ex, cash sale. I said OK I like it what can you offer? They told me how clever their sales manager was and how he monitors market prices and adjusts the price accordingly AND that is the price take it or leave it. I left it and got a better deal at a different Lexus dealer who had the sense to realise that a smaller profit is better than no profit.🤠
  3. Just tell them that unless they do it for free you will abandon the sale, and mean what you say. In my experience the best deal comes while you are walking away and occasionally it doesn't, but that's life.😥
  4. I was lucky Churchill refused to insure my IsF for another year.. Good riddance to them.
  5. Latest from The new chinese car factory in Luton. The new BRi ck edition
  6. Hey Stephen Like I was saying; I would be a bit concerned about changing the battery myself if you risk £2500 worth of damage. Have a look at the new addition to the thread from June. Established Member 8.6k Name: Rayaan Lexus Model: RX450h / UX300e Year of Lexus: 2016 Location: Yorkshire Author Posted June 23 Its the radio unit itself. Kills itself and the screen goes dead as the connections all go through the radio. Essentially requires a new radio unit to work which isnt cheap unless you get a second hand one
  7. I got a bit annoyed when they kept calling me to say that there were outstanding issues with my car. There were none. Tyres half worn - what's wrong with that? I would always recommend a second opinion.
  8. Good idea, but they thought of that, they use high resolution infra-red cameras. Solution=cloned plates.
  9. I second that. I have only seen Greenland from a plane and it looks a bit bleak and damp. Come to think of it..... Just like Lancashire😾
  10. I too try to park defensively, then you come back to the car and find two battered bangers parked either side of you. I like the old insurance ad showing a car owned by a careful owner being hit by a meteorite. Surely this image cannot be right? It says cab hit by meteorite in London???
  11. I appreciate the education and update on the modern use of English grammar, but Rowley, your French needs a brush up. De Rigueur. S'il vous plaît. 🧑‍🏫😇
  12. On the news just now. If Rwanda has failed two other countries are being proposed. I have heard that one of them is Wales. I wonder if the other is Scotland?
  13. You mean used EV surely because they will cost nowt soon.
  14. Does it rain all the time in Rwanda? I would go but might get chopped to bits by Cannibals.
  15. Lookout! Here's an extract from that esteemed "rag" The one and only Bolton evening news. Don't ask me why I read this rubbish "news"paper. Two-way speed cameras that no longer ‘flash’ at speeding cars or require painted lines on the road are being installed across Greater Manchester, including Bolton. More than 100 of these new ‘ultra’ speed cameras are being installed across the region, operating 24/7 with the aim of eliminating all road fatalities and serious injuries. Greater Manchester Police are warning speeding drivers to look out for them as, unlike traditional cameras which only capture vehicles in the left-hand lane, they capture two-way traffic. They missed out - with the aim of making money. So, the first thing you know is a fine through the post. And do not use your phone because they will get you for that as well. They have been installing them in France for years. Quite a few got cut down with an angle grinder. No, I did not do it - honest. BTW I was taught never to start a sentence with "And" or "So" but it seems to work colloquially.
  16. £70K in a decent savings account is nearly £3K per year interest. Just saying....💸🙂
  17. i would risk £5K for a two year old Lexus EV with warranty of course. Oh, Hang on it will probably get nicked anyway.
  18. "There's one born every minute. " Quote - PT Barnum I believe. Show me the Egress. Should have bought a Subaru Impreza 2.0 forged crank WRX STi for £7K worth £25K plus now. Subaru Impreza 2.0T WRX STi Litchfield Type 20 Hatchback 5dr Petrol Manual 4WD (400 ps) 2009 (09 reg) £28,995
  19. Here's good example of working the system - from the retail gazette: In his letter to Asda, Mr Jones said: “The committee has concerns that the complex company structure within which Asda sits, and associated decisions on financing, may restrict your ability to help meet cost-of-living pressures on your customers.” In response, the Asda co-owner said it was not uncommon for a business of its size to have such a complex structure. Issa said the business was set up this way to enable smooth lending practices and fuel future takeover activity. MPs also asked for more detail about interest-free loans allegedly provided to fund the purchase of private jets. Issa said EG Group, the petrol forecourt empire owned by the two brothers, had publicly disclosed the loans in its accounts: “The board of directors of the EG Group are aware of, and approved, this arrangement.”
  20. Just checked to make sure I got this right. One person said that the audio system packed in but he might have done something stupid - who knows... Any people out there who have successfully changed their battery with no problems? This guide looks at common problems preventing a Lexus from starting after replacing or disconnecting the battery. Symptoms Lexus won’t start after changing the battery. Lexus won’t start after disconnecting the battery. The security light comes on but won’t turn off. The engine won’t turn over. The alarm goes off when connecting the battery.
  21. Please let us know how you get on with the battery change. I hope it goes well. It would be good for others to have some confidence. As a confirmed registered chicken I would pay the insurance in having Lexus take the risk but then you're a better man than I am Bungdit In. Sorry I can't get that "Carry on" film scene out of my mind.
  22. I could never figure out how some new companies could go for years making losses and keep going. But that's why you hire accountants. I tried the same thing until her majesty's customs and excise turned up on the doorstep... Ouch!
  23. What was the book? Anyone got any suggestions? I think I saw it on ebay recently idle times: a poetry collection by K a Davis (Paperback, 2020) £11 ! Do you think I am made of money!!
