  1. Just googled boomer and got this. You really do not want to upset him. Apparently he is called Roger. AND he is BIG. Roger the kangaroo: Enormous roo dies aged 12 - BBC News Roger, a kangaroo who won global fame for his enormous size and impressive physique, has died at the age of 12. The roo was rescued as a joey after his mother was killed in a car accident, and grew up at the Kangaroo Sanctuary in Alice Springs in Australia. And he grew up a lot - ending up more than 2m (6ft 7) tall and weighing 89kg (196lbs). The sanctuary announced his death from old age at the weekend, saying they had lost their "beautiful boy". Please forgive me boomers - only kidding.🤡
  2. No I'm the one driving - see the glasses? Specsavers £25. The wife is always reminding me of the speed limit when I am doing 41 in a 40 zone. I got her the pink hat for her birthday. This is me on the bike when I was a young tearaway.
  3. I used to see the bedford and transit vans being driven from Southampton to the North up the M6. Bat out of hell comes close to the driving. Then some poor mug tries to run them in at 40 mph. The damage is already done. Good for the dealers though, with oil leaks and bearing/piston ring failure at about 30K.
  4. Like the driving cats images. Here's one of me and the missus going shopping. Typical Lexus drivers.
  5. We are pensioners and have to sit around a pack of these in the evening. When it gets chilly we put on our coats and run around the living room until the men in white coats arrive.
  6. Tried it on my UK dell keyboard and I get € too, but only using the upper numbers. If I try the alt gr ( right alt ) with the number pad 4 I get " Whippet" But that only applies to users in Lancashire and Yorkshire. I just had a closer look at the keyboard and there is actually a € sign next to the 4 below the dollar sign. Never noticed it before. DOH!🤔
  7. Here's piece of classic hard rock. I find the creative chords and subtle counterpoint develops into a moving piece of tremendous depth and complexity.
  8. To quote from blazing saddles: Euros,......we don't need no steeenkin' euros - followed by a spit. € = press ALT then keeping pressed 0128 . Works for me. An easier way is to go to wikipedia site and search for euro symbol and copy paste it. e.g. From Wikipedia. "The symbol € is based on the Greek letter epsilon (Є), with the first letter in the word "Europe" and with 2 parallel lines signifying stability" copied € and pasted €€€€€€€€€€.. Same for any other currency. No-one likes a smart a r s e, as my teacher used to tell me.😙
  9. I have the CTEK charger. It works fine. You can leave it plugged in and connected for days or weeks or just charge up when necessary - in garage not used in winter for example. There are many adaptors for all vehicles. It is "intelligent" and charges safely and at the correct rate for different scenarios. Recommended. It takes about 6 hours to get my 5 yr old battery back to full charge ( green light stage 7 ) after the car has been stood in the garage for three or four weeks. No I don't work for them.😁 12V/5A CTEK MXS 5.0 ADVANCED CHARGING WITH TEMPERATURE COMPENSATION The MXS 5.0 is an advanced microprocessor controlled battery charger with automatic temperature compensation built in providing unrivalled performance on lead-acid batteries from 1.2Ah up to 110Ah. The MXS 5.0 solves a broad range of battery problems and is the ideal charger for the user with high demands.
  10. Think yourself lucky £20,000 pounds insurance!!! From the Independent newspaper. The Range Rover Velar R-Dynamic HSE is virtually impossible to insure in some areas of London. According to one comparison website, only two providers offer insurance for the car - to a 35-year-old woman in zone four, with six years of driving experience and no claims - for no less than £20,000 a year. When moved to a north London address in zone 2, the website QuoteGoat found no insurance available for a 2023 Range Rover Velar R-Dynamic HSE and no car insurance deals appear to be available in London for a 25-year-old man with the same driving qualification and the same car.
  11. Mine went for the fuel pipe recall and, as advised to help the mechanic I ran the fuel into reserve. A bit worrying as the recall was cancelled and re-scheduled so the car was on reserve warning for about 20 miles. They did the job and put back the two teaspoons of fuel that they took out, probably with all the muck from the bottom of the tank included. I had a "buttock-clenching" drive to the nearest petrol station about 4 miles away. I was hoping that they might have put a pint or two of clean new fuel in but times must be hard for them.
  12. Yes it was base and back. I would check your model first just in case there is a hidden fastener, but for me, they just popped out and popped back in. I was searching for a rattling noise. Hope it works!
  13. I doubt if the noise is serious as cars just don't knock like they used to. I had an old ford with a 3 bearing crank that knocked and whined ( bad main and big-end bearings ) that needed replacing every 12000 miles. Fords are still designed to fail after a pre-determined time, usually just after the warranty expires. Here's a good one from youtube.
  14. On the isf you just use brute force and pull it off the clips
  15. Just for perspective here are some figures from our cars that I got recently. 2010 Kia ceed 1.6 diesel - 58mpg; best ever was 70mpg when going for a record economy run out of curiosity! BTW the car cost £1000 from a friend. Still running great no issues!! 2020 VW Up Gti 1.0 turbo petrol - 56 mpg; best ever was 68mpg on a record run test again on the M6 northbound at about 65 mph. Got rid of it after a few months awful ride and skinny tyres susceptible to pothole damage. A skateboard. All the following have been ( or still are ) loved and cared for😇 2019 Volvo T5 2.0 Turbo petrol - 28mpg 2012 Isf - 5.0 V8 - 22 mpg 2017 Is200t 2.0 Turbo - 26 mpg 2018 Harley 114cu in ( 1868cc ) - 56mpg None of them have electric assistance apart from a tiny black thing under the bonnet/seat that makes about 12 - 14 volts.
  16. I have had the standard milenco steering wheel bar for 2 years now and it has been fine. I don't know how effective a deterrent it is because I have seen no evidence of attempted theft. Therefore I assume that it is doing its job. Fits fine, no scuffs on wheel, looks good and robust.🙂
  17. Very apt...... One of today's issues is the need to avoid angry people. There seems to be a lot of them about. Not just drivers but in supermarkets and on the streets. Such a shame that the world is going to hell in a handbasket. It might seem odd but we do not go out after dark nowadays, especially not driving, due to the preponderance of nutters.
  18. I'll have whatever you are drinking.😊
  19. Maybe your issue with Churchill is why they have been difficult with me and I have been dumped. They blamed the problems on their underwriters. I think they may have a problem with all Lexus cars, even the older ones that do not have the canbus vulnerability. They just threw away a good customer who drives carefully.
  20. I gave Adrian Flux a try and nearly fell off my chair/ dropped my pie/ crushed the whippet. They even rang me up to see what I thought of the £1300 bargain price. Needless to say the reply was short. TBH they did successfully insure my bike at a reasonable price via bikesure insurance brokers. It is a bit of a pain to have to do this every year, but if you don't do it you will pay for the error of your ways.😴 FYI results: Isf -2012- uninsurable going SORN end of month. Is200 -2016 - insured £400ish with company I have never heard of but owned by a better known company that has awful reviews. I just hope that I never have to claim. Memo to self - set speed limiter to 20mph even on Motorways.
  21. Got it. Thanks Lexus for backing me up.
  22. Two hours of misery on the phone and the internet to get insurance. Churchill bumped up the price by about £250 despite no claims etc. 420old to 670new. A 60% increase🤬 Tried the usual comparison sites and saw an offer at £450 and thought " that will do". Halfway through the process I changed an incorrect date, from four years, ago by 14 days - a simple change to indicate an anniversary. The recalculation jumped up by £250 for what appeared to be an improvement or benefit. Just trying be be honest Guv! The site would not go back to the original price. It remembered me as a mug and it was out to rob me. I tried again from scratch and got quotes from £550 ( tesco ) to £1500 ( Abu Hassan and the forty thieves company ). I finally rang the company who jumped the price to ask why the price jumped. They re-submitted the details and got £650 again. I told them that I had other options at around £450 ( bluffer ) so thanks for trying and cheerio -- and all of a sudden the price came down to £450. BTW they ( Churchill ) flatly refused to insure my other car this year. Don't need or want my money. I must be a really bad person.🥲
  23. Be aware that the insurance companies will want to steal £200 from you for modifying the car. It is unbelievable. There is a small plastic wind deflector on the boot of my car. I do not know if it was a factory option or extra from Lexus or the dealer. I asked the Lexus main dealer that I bought it from ( used vehicle ) and they say that they do not sell modified cars therefore, as I did not fit it, the car must be standard. Or is it??? I checked images on google and some cars have them and some do not. If I think and declare that it is a modification ( 2 inches of cosmetic plastic that affects nothing ) I pay £200 more for my insurance. So, I have declined to declare it as I honestly do not know who fitted it or where it came from - maybe a previous owner -but once you go into this area it is a can of worms. I have asked Lexus to Send me confirmation that the car I bought was completely standard as the confirmed on their records and over the phone - still waiting for the email.
