  1. Just an update on this. I finally sorted this out today and now the door panel sits flush. As mentioned in my previous post I unhooked the black loom from the white plastic hook (you just need to lift it up to slide it out of the hook) that should give you enough room to move the cabling closer to the middle of the door. Also I realised some of my clips were broken and bent out of shape from my previous attempts.. so i ordered new ones on ebay and replaced them now the door panel sits flush and im really happy I installed this unit. Its super convenient and if i want to check if my car is locked i just need to look to see if the mirrors have closed
  2. I tried this today but it didn't work for me. My RCA cable when stripped had different colours and had 3 wires. Also realised the camera I bought is an AHD camera so not sure if the system in my car is capable of using an AHD signal. Anyway when i switch to reverse the screen didn't switch. Will buy another cheapo camera from amazon and try again. If it still doesn't work might try using the loom I bought.
  3. Awesome! Thats so much mate will give it a try this week. I assume you are not getting reversing lines? From my little research you need to connect the red feedback wire to the + reverse power as well if you want to enable reverse lines if your camera supports this.
  4. Thanks mate. Really useful. Do you know if once i strip the RCA cable do these generic Chinese cameras use a red / black wire for +/- video. Also do you remember the color of the factory wires that are +/- for video input i cant really make out from the above image. Mine is a 2014 executive so assume it would be the same as yours.
  5. Just to confirm you powered the camera from the reverse light and only connected the video cables to the factory connector? Can you please share how did you identify which 2 were the power cables vs video from the factory connector and how did you connect the RCA cable from the aftermarket one to the factory wiring? I am assuming your car didn't come with a camera from the factory which is why you got an aftermarket camera? Im attempting to connect an aftermarket cam with the factory screen but as explained above i got a separate loom. If there's factory wiring i can cut and use id rather do that as it will save a lot of time and i wont have to open up the stereo.
  6. Typically the aftermarket cameras do need 12v which can come from the reverse light. Im not sure how you plan to feed the video signal to the factory connector though. The aftermarket cameras use an RCA connector while the factory camera uses a different 6 pin system. Unless you've figured it out already. I plan to use an aftermarket camera with the factory screen as well but had to buy a separate 28pin loom that accepts an RCA feed and yes the camera will be powered using the reverse light. The loom i bought also came with a 6v out but the seller said i wont need to connect it if im connecting the camera to the reverse lights and that the system will automatically know when i switch to reverse to change to video input. So will try and let you know how it goes. So i assume a similar logic could apply in your case as well. Here is the loom i bought. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175266910321 Mine is an executive with the Fujitsu ten head unit.
  7. Tried again today and no luck i even tried unhooking the main factory loom from its holder see pic to have more flexibility and room to play around but the distance between the 2 chinese connectors is so less that it didn't help much. One option that i could see working is making a hole in the plastic sheet on the door and tuck it in there. But i am reluctant to do that. I don't want to do something irreversible. So for now i guess il just live with the door card not sitting flush. Its not too bad but still bothers me when i see it. For anyone else struggling to place the unit itself see pic 3 to see where i placed it. I initially struggled with this too but managed to figure it out.
  8. All new TPMS sensors need to be re-programmed. Even if they are original lexus. You could do it yourself with a basic obd reader and software like carista. Else as others have suggested most big tyre shops should be able to program it for you. You can get the original ones cheap on ebay. I remember seeing one shipped from Germany Almost same price as aftermarket ones and half the price that lexus want. Lexus use a unit by Pacific industries. This one should be very similar to the original as far as i am aware and with 2 years warranty https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/374691023930?hash=item573d534c3a:g:tUYAAOSwtYtkXOQl&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA8EPYMK9eSl2fTfqHOD6P1PurWIIxvG1chg%2FjDY3%2F2XIgFvbJ7X4o5JBwBhwuVZkiptjfP7kqmdpJK632%2FT3jzZ2WdftIhfEy2HV3kUmwLq6L4ClTev4DfVAW%2ByF5ZAtHbxbGv%2B2AzJS6MvHb89W4igPZVGb63pY4iD1R7a0aBBdWVO0HAqwHyRBFSxigpWxpK1LT7M4sKtCgPfrdmwfEWmuvP1puvwHQ9cklpoUvKufeCMd7%2FbIju1%2FyXYjXoVkNFqbl98a54gJduZ3hsbjB50aAKhucmMKI4k3qtb9dDNqapVYJJOlbm97s954%2BC9AlVg%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR-CUg_eFYw Also a valve and sensor are two separate things. Some tyre shops e.g Kwikfit will change your valves when you get new tyres but not the tpms sensor itself.
  9. Hi. I bought one of these as well. Managed to install it but it seems a bit taller than the factory one. I cant seem to push it in far enough for the yellow plastic clips to click into place it keeps fouling on the top and no matter what i do some of it sticks out. Can you please let me know what did you trim exactly. Im quite disappointed with the fit. Also i cant seem to get this trim panel from the front of the screen to fit. The seller provided a replacement panel but its the same size as the factory one.
  10. Yeah I didn't tamper with the wires just used the loom that came with it. Im ok to press twice to fold the mirrors. Anyway will try to see what csn be done to ensure the door card fits flush. Its better now once all the screws are back but there is still a gap. Will try to see if theres another place i can tuck it.
  11. Ok never mind on the 2nd point. I was just being daft one of the windows was slightly open and i didn't notice. Thats been resolved. Still interested in any feedback people might have on how to make the doorcard fit flush with the door frame. I tried pushing and prodding a bit more and its better now.. Not as bad as in the above pic but it's still not flush if i smack it into place it stays for 2 seconds then pops back out. Also another thing i noticed is that if i get out of the car and ther is a long gap between me getting out and hitting the lock button the mirrors dont fold even if i double lock. I have to unlock then double lock for it to fold.
  12. I finally bought and fitted this today. Wasn't too hard. I did not remove the entire door card like in the video. i pulled it enough to be able to pull the wires that go to the lock through and connect it. Everything works as expected i.e mirrors fold after pressing lock twice. But i am facing 2 issues. The 2 connectors that go to the lock are not very well spaced and the socket is quite close to the plug as a result one plastic trim clip on the door card just wont lock no matter what i do because the connection between the factory wiring loom that originally goes to the lock but is now connected to the module gets in the way. How did you guys resolve this? I cant seem to find a space where i can tuck the white plastic connectors that will enable me to successfully close the doorcard with this clip locking to the door. (see picture) The other rstrange issue is whenever i open the door it gives me a warning on the dash saying "window open" not sure if this is normal as i dont remember seeing this warning ever.
  13. Just my opinion but you may be better off buying a new original plastic replacement filter housing rather than an aftermarket aluminium one. The reason being that these filters have a bypass valve and you done want a china made unit with a cheap generic spring. I mean it will most likely work but the risk of it failing is higher. These things are meant to be precision made
  14. I have an executive too and if you want to have a reversing cam display on the big screen. There are 2 options. For both you will need a generic Chinese reversing camera as these use simple RCA cables. Then you will need an android box that accepts an RCA input this acts as in interface between your factory head unit and factory screen but will add android auto/carplay and reversing camera functions to your existing setup something like this. If you're willing to invest the time and effort you can even get a 360 camera. https://a.aliexpress.com/_mMin4qk The other option is to again use a generic camera but instead of the Android box you can upgrade your factory screen to a larger chinese one with android. Similar to the box this does improve the overall functionality and even uplifts the interior of your car making it look more modern but is a pricier option. This also offers the 360 camera option https://a.aliexpress.com/_mLuj3b6 The chalenge here will be installing it. Should be easy if you're good with DIY. Also i seen you get Chinese cameras that support dynamic lines i.e the lines turn when you turn your steering wheel. I have ordered one of these screens ans cameras and will try to do a step by step video review if possible.
  15. Yes i do ~5 miles each time i use my car so primarily short trips and in the winter my fuel consumption is quite high. I guess the engine needs to stay on longer to warm up due to lower temperatures plus theres demand on the system from the heated seats window defoggers ac and so on. The trip computer stated consumption ranges between ~27-30. In the summer i can live without using the ac most days and for similar distances i get a much higher 45-50
  16. I have the asymmetric 6 all round and for me they're good. But i mostly drive in the city so perhaps i didn't need them to begin with. Like someone else pointed out they do change their behaviour based on tempreature and often times the ride is slightly firmer when its cold but is very comfortable and grippy once the tyres warm up. I have not had issues with it slipping / spinning. Bridgestone now have turanza 6 which is an updated t005. Reviews seem to suggest theyre good but were a bit more expensive than the goodyear when i was looking. As you've already noted the tyres for 18 inch wheels are pretty expensive and an all round name brand set will cost you ~500-550. The rears are 255/35 18 i believe and not 225 i dont think you can use 225 on the rear as i think the rims are wider. On the tpms it depends on how long you plan to keep the car. Get the originals if you plan to run the car into the ground. They're expensive but should last a good 8-10 years. Else the aftermarket ones from brands like bosch shouldn't be too bad id think maybe look for reviews. The denso ones are nearly as expensive as the originals from what I remember. Alternatively you can just change the valave stems and batteries and use the original ones if you're good with DIY. There are videos on YouTube.
  17. Looks great which one did you get? Hows the sound quality? Is there a noticeable dip? While originally i couldn't be bothered i am quite tempted to get one.
  18. I've actually been looking into this recently for the wife's jazz. Wolfbox, pelsee and autovox seem to be the top chinese brands. Decided to get a pelsee p12 pro from amazon. Haven't tried it yet will be installing it over the weekend but based on my research this seems to be one where quality is good and it has some fancy AI based smart mirror features such as lane departure warning, blind spot detection and distance warning. Not sure how well they work but thought its better to have the option as you can always switch it off if its not useful or glitchy. Its got 4k front recording and 1080p rear recording. Sounded decent for £119 after a voucher. The other one i considered was a wolfbox g900 seems to be their flagship product and the best mirror cam available quality wise with 4k front 2.5k rear recording and high quality lenses but its pretty expensive at £175 and doesn't have as many features as the pelsee. Sounds like a fairly straightforward diy install depending on how clean a install you want. It just straps on to your current rear view mirror and plugs into the lighter power outlet. The rear camera will need some DIY skill though as you might need to do some trim removal / drilling to mount the camera outside and you will need to splice into the reverse light wire if you want the mirror to switch to the rear camera automatically when reverse is engaged. Alternatively you could mount it inside on the rear glass and just manually switch to the rear camera everytime you reverse. Overall for what they are i think mirror cams offer a lot more value than parking sensors as they also function as dashcams, reversing camera and as a smart mirror.
  19. Sorry to hear. But unfortunately this is going to be a very expensive repair or at the very least it is going to require someone who specialises in Toyota / Lexus. Unlike other countries shops in the UK will not use parts that you purchase from a breaker as their insurance does not cover it. They can use parts you supply but they need to be new. Also even if you manage to replace the bonnet and the pop up struts at a local indie there is an Airbag Control Module under the centre console that has the event permanently logged meaning you will always see an error on the dash unless you replace / re-program this ECU. This will need a toyota / lexus specialist as it requires specialist equipment. Not sure you can just swap this module with one from a breaker as these are coded to the car.
  20. Totally know that feeling. A bit of a philosophical tangent but taking these risks are very rewarding. When I bought my car it came with a broken ac vent which I didn't notice at the time of the test drive. I couldn't live with it so i replaced it with a new one from a breaker. The job seemed scarier in my imagination than in reality. I realised I just needed to go slow and be organised. It felt so rewarding that i never stopped after that. It gave me the confidence to do a lot of other DIY just by educating myself on youtube. I did up my bathroom and fixed some plumbing which saved me quite a bit of money and i think i did as good or a better job than a tradesman as i took my time and did it over several days rather than squeezing it in a few hours to keep costs low. Like someone else correctly pointed out you will inevitably end up being more cautious and not taking short cuts you will do things the right way and hence the overall quality will be better. But yes there is always a chance of making mistakes but if you make mistakes on your own car i say that adds character but if a shop makes mistakes on your car after paying them thats unacceptable 😜. The way i see it its a car in the end and i will get rid of it in 5-6 years anyway so enjoy it and learn something new. Totally understand though that different people have different appetite for risk.
  21. So I heard back from lexus customer relations and they say that its still valid for 15 years as long as we get the hybrid health check done.
  22. I emailed their customer care. Should hear back on Monday.
  23. I might not need to claim it. But if it is 15 years and i plan to keep the car i would get the hybrid health check / Service done at lexus. Else if they're not offering the warranty anymore i wouldn't bother servicing or doing the hybrid health check at lexus.
  24. Yeah that was going to be my next question. These policies change all the time so whats really applicable to us? Is it the latest or what was in effect when we bought the car? Im not an expert.. But legally i dont think we have a leg to stand on if they change their policies. Im sure their terms state that they are free to withdraw / change the scope of their warranty as and when they please. I see the price list Colin provided still talks about a 15 year warranty but removing it from everywhere else in their communication means something is up. I might mail lexus to get clarity. Will let you know how i get on.
  25. Yeah 15 years for toyota is still on looks like. But for lexus i dont see it on the site. Even the page that details what a hybrid health check is avoids mentioning the 15 year battery warranty. https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/servicing-and-maintenance/servicing-mot-hybrid-health-check but maybe its still valid. Like someone already mentioned its 10 years in the rest of europe. https://www.lexus.eu/owners/maintenance/hybrid-health-check
