  1. Yeah thats old and not part of the official lexus warranty page. It sounds like 10 years is max now with relax. I think it has changed for toyota too.
  2. I could have sworn that when i bought my car last year lexus used to offer a 15 year warranty on the hybrid battery as long as its had a hybrid health check every year which they do anyway when you service your car at lexus. However i was browsing the lexus site today and I don't see this info anywhere it sounds like now the hybrid battery / component warranty is 5 years or 60k miles only. And its upto 10 years or 600k miles for electric batteries. Is this real? Is there no 15 year warranty on the hybrid battery anymore?
  3. Haha I wonder about cars i used to own as well. I do look up their mot from time to time to get a sense of how they are doing. An 05 honda civic i used to own at 70k is now at 150k and sounds like its rusting away from the advisories I see.
  4. Yes it does decerease the value. Even official upgrades barely make a difference to prices. Most dealerships for example use a software to determine prices which is based on trim level age and mileage of a particular make and model. They rarely deviate from this price. Dealerships / private buyers will use any excuse they can to lower the amount they have to shell out and unofficial mods is one such excuse they will use. I mean you could argue that you've actually improved the car but the fact that its an unofficial accessory and is most likely not professionally installed will be a point that can be used to try and lower the price. Had it been an original lexus accessory installed by them with receipts to prove it... would have been a different story. In either case I doubt any accessory would increase the value of your car best case scenerio the price will remain unaffected.
  5. My experience has been mixed. Had a not so great experience with a big dealership in London and an average run off the mill experience with a smaller official lexus workshop. It certainly didn't live up to the hype or the fantastic "Lexus experience" that i had read about everywhere. I have had better experiences with local indies.
  6. I would do it if I planned to keep the car long. Its fairly simple to do and shouldn't cost too much. Maybe use a specialist / good indie instead of lexus. Typically when i buy a car i plan to keep for 5 years or more i change all the fluids and regas the ac within the first couple of years just for good measure. Might be an overkill but at least i know its all done. Alternatively you could just buy coolant from ebay or lexus parts direct and use a suction pump to pump out coolant from the reservoirs and replace them - maybe around a litre each. If you do this every year your coolant will most likely never need a full flush.
  7. This happens because the cap on the rubber L shaped pipes is the highest point on the system. Where as the reservoir sits lower. The only way to fix this is to close the cap on the rubber pipe use a suction pump available on ebay to suck out the excess coolant from the reservoir and store this in a cl3an bottle. Then close the cap on the reservoir open the cap on the rubber pipes and fill the coolant you removed into this till it reaches the top. Do not keep both caps open at the same time or you will run into the issue again. Also both caps are different. The cap for the reservoir has a valve underneath. Where as the cap for the rubber L shaped line is just hard plastic with a rubber gasket you cant interchange the caps as they wont fit.
  8. For me originally i planned to keep the IS for 5 years. But like others here i don't see an alternative and might just end up running it till it no longer makes financial sense. The ES is the closest alternative and i think it looks good but is a bit too big and has the same boot size. The IS on the other hand is perfect for my current needs and so far I am quite happy with Lexus and Honda reliability wise so will probably not look at other manufacturers
  9. I had cross climates on the front and like you i found them quite noisy. Especially on concrete stretches of the motorway they were unbareable. But from what I understand that is to be expected if you have an all season tyre but michelin are probably one of the better ones. Summer tyres typically tend to be less noisy. I now have the asymmetric 6 on the front and 5 on the back. I find them quite good. I dont push the car and use it and primarily in the city so noise and comfort are the only two things i can gauge it on and its been great on both. Il be getting them on the back as well shortly.
  10. Yes it is available used on ebay from several breakers its called a door card.
  11. There's a repair manual here. Perhaps you could find it in there. http://zatonevkredit(blocked word)/repair_manuals/viewdoc_html/AWHuj7EURvZszzJrV4Yg?utm_source=LexusOwnersClubUK&utm_medium=ForumLinks
  12. I second this. We have this as a 2nd car and if it were the only car we had I am confident it would not leave us wanting for more. Its got oodles of space with its clever magic seats the engine is peppy enough (the 1.4 at least) and for basic transport its simply great!
  13. But what is the difference vs other fuel system cleaners that you can pick up locally? Why buy the official one when you can get redex for like 4 or 5 quid. Im sure even lexus / toyota source it elsewhere and don't make it themselves.
  14. All depends on how much you paid for your car and how long you plan to keep it. For example if its a 12k car with 100k miles or something that you plan to run for only a couple of years it doesn't make much sense spending £700 on the media unit as you will not recover your costs. But if its something thats fairly new and you plan to keep for like 5-10 years then might be worth it depending on your use. A lot of us just use our phone + bluetooth and it does the job just fine.
  15. Maybe far too basic but get mudflaps i got the ones from aliexpress for £15 and fitted them myself... best thing ever given how much it rains in the UK
  16. Confirming it is 100% from the dipstick rubbing against the tube. This morning i checked again and just to experiment i inserted the dipstick only halfway and pulled it back out before it could reach the oil. The dipstick had no oil on it but the tip was still covered in this grey material so its coming from the inside of tube. As you said the tube isnt straight and has a bend.
  17. Hi all. So yesterday after ages i thought it might be a good idea to check the oil level before setting off on a long trip. To my surprise there was some dark grey / black residue on only the tip of the dipstick. The rest of the oil was clear. Do any of you also experience this? What do you think it is? I initially thought it might be soot from blowby gases but if it were that all of the oil would be uniformly black/grey. Preliminary research suggests that this is actually the tip of the dipstick scraping against the tube which is not straight so it accumulates dirt/metal from the inside of the tube. Would be good to hear what people think.
  18. Yeah its in the settings on the small screen near the speedometer.
  19. Yeah confirmed its only on cars with the memory seat function.
  20. Got it. It might be trim level specific then. My executive doesnt do it and i have manual seats. Its something i really use a lot to avoid curbing the wheels but since i do it manually now i keep forgetting to correct my mirror when driving its such an annoyance.
  21. Could be if you look at the IS series as a supercar 😛
  22. Looks like that full from has been debunked but they do confirm that the misnomer does exist https://www.lexusofparramatta.com.au/about/blog/what-does-lexus-stand-for
  23. Lowering mirror when in reverse seems super useful to me. Has anyone tried it to see if it works? Or is it model specific? Id gladly pay to have that.
  24. Rumour has it that LEXUS actually stands for Luxury EXport for the US. Not sure how far thats true but given how unimaginative companies can be with names i wouldn't be surprised if that were true.
  25. I have a Yuasa 3000 on my is300h and its great. It works fine and i primarily do short distances so not a lot of time in ready mode. Certainly not 30 mins every day. I went on vacation for 3 weeks and when I was back it booted the system right up. On the other hand i hear of original batteries dying after 2 weeks of no use. I am not sure how important it is to vent this battery though because the venting tube doesn't fit the battery and is just left hanging.
