Its all well painting them but if they are rusted & the thing rounds off on you, youre stuck. Some of these garages use air guns on locking wheel nuts so you have to use huge force to get them off. They are only meant to have 140nm or something.

All my locking wheel nuts were rusty & nasty. I replaced them but I had to wonder if alloy wheel theft us still a thing? Back I'm the 90s & 00s alloy wheels were expensive & most cars still came with hub caps. Alloys were so expensive in the 90s the Mk4 Supra came with 16" alloy wheels. Today its not unusual to see 18"/19" wheels on regular cars. All my rusty nuts came off ok but they can obviously be a problem if they wont come off. I considered just putting the regular wheel nuts back on but...didn't. anyone not bother with locking nuts anymore? Apparently if someone really wants your wheels a locking wheel nut won't stop them.

I still cant get my head around why BMW deleted oil dipsticks from some of their engines, now you have to rely on the infotainment screen to tell you how much oil you have & to be telling you the truth & if your infotainment breaks at some point you cant even tell if you have oil without getting it repaired.. & i thought replacing the reliable handbrake with an electric switch was silly.

they only work once the screen is booted up as they are part of the screen & even if you could adjust it to max heat the air will still be cold when first starting the car.

The 450h F Sport has 21" wheels.. & pricey 235/50/21 tyres! Its got heated & cooled rear seats, the same touch screen radio as all the other recently refreshed lexus cars, I really dont like that they put the heater controls into the touch screen, if its blowing cold air in your face first thing in the morning because you had it set to that when you got home yesterday you have to wait until the radio boots up to turn it off. The tail gate shuts a lot easier than the old ones. Progress.

I managed to own my last car for 4 years without kerbing the wheels or damaging them, so going pay to remove all the kerb rash & the flaked off paint on some of the spokes on the RCF Ive just bought knowing that I will be careful to avoid kerbing the wheels & i will clean the wheels properly. You have to pay £££ to repair diamond cut wheels.

yeah, if you own one that was made after april 2017 or whenever it was, once its over 5 years old the rate drops, pre april 2017 & your tax will never go down.

Can't you update the firmware on these units to new versions of android?

They are Android 10. If the aliexpress ones are actually quality enough to replace OEM in a Lexus id get one but I'm not convinced.

Ive seen a lot about the upgrade of the screen in these cars, it looks like a no-brainer to do it as the screen size together with the actual interface is so bad. Theres a lot of units to choose from, Im not convinced that the AliExpress one is of good quality?!. Is there a package that most people would recommend, any warnings, issues with upgrading?

I always wondered what the insurance situation is when you go on the nurburgring, your regular insurance won't cover it, is there special insurance or is purely at your own risk?

Ive not had mine long & ive only really had cars with manual gearboxes my whole driving life, so its not coming naturally to me, but when I know im going to want it to do something I manually knock it down a few gears with the paddle & then speed up rather than wait for it to read my mind or change it to sport+ mode.

The front grille is not good imo, only looks ok in dark colours. Looks like a wall that the plaster has crumbled off & has exposed the metalwork underneath.

The hunter is a lot more detailed than the usual basic ones, but is more expensive £70-£80 Some places will do an alignment check with a hunter for free.

I would assume that you would have to have registered the car with lexus in some way.

Well if it can wait until July when it goes for its service, that would be nicer than making a special trip.

I got a letter from Lexus about replacing the fuel vent tube. Anyone know how long this will take to replace & is it urgent?
