  1. There is no duty from any country if the the goods (inc.shipping) is under £135. Steve is correct though in saying that there is still 20% VAT to be added. VAT and customs duty are two different things.
  2. Hi There are plenty of Lexus UX spares (including full cars breaking) on eBay. Personally I would contact some of them and request a price for the trim. You should be able to replace the part yourself with basic tools and knowledge.
  3. I previously had a 2017 IS300H where the driver seat did not heat up. I took it to a Lexus dealer for inspection but they told me it was operating as normal. The heated seats in some Lexus models are really poor and you can hardly feel any heat.
  4. The MOT inspection manual is available online should anyone wish to look. (b) a suspension joint dust cover: (ii) missing or no longer prevents the ingress of dirt etc, - Major defect. I do agree that although every MOT tester should follow the inspection manual, everyone's assessment ability is different - there will always be differences of opinion as we're not robots. If you ever have doubt if an MOT has been carried out correctly, you can contact DVSA to investigate. Personally I'd be most concerned about the corrosion and also the excessive oil leak.
  5. We had to be careful at primary school when saying the headmaster's name - a Mr.Banks
  6. Hi It was mentioned earlier in the thread to buy a mechanics stethoscope. This is a really good suggestion. When I previously worked as a mechanic, it was a really useful piece of equipment. It could save you a lot of time and make finding the issue easier. Screwfix for example has one (Silverline) for £9.29.
  7. Welcome Mike! Quite a few SC430 owners here who I'm sure will help you. "Washing a car - Washing a car, is very much like making love to a beautiful woman. You've got to caress the bodywork"
  8. Yes the colour and also the shine on the disc.
  9. Yes, if the photo is accurate. Looks like the disc has overheated.
  10. On the lower photo that you posted you can see evidence of excess heat damage due to the caliper binding. With the symptoms you describe - previous uneven pad wear recorded and at present, one caliper is hot and the other is cold, the following would be parts to check / replace. 1. piston(s) in the caliper is partially seized. 2. Sliding pins are seized inside the caliper preventing the caliper from moving. 3. Flexible brake hose is perished internally and causing the caliper to bind on.
  11. This looks like the clip that's attached to brake pads and acts as a wear indicator. When the brake pads wear down if they are not replaced in time, this metal clip contacts the brake disc and makes an unpleasant squeak. The photo of the part has been deformed so apologies if it's not the part I mentioned above.
  12. I previously had a Japanese import Celica GT4. I purchased a dial conversion kit from Lockwood International. The kit is not expensive, good quality and relatively easy to install and gives you the m.p.h dial. They offer conversion kits for the Impreza and Legacy.
  13. I imagine that the wheels in all of the photographs are the replacement wheels that were purchased from eBay, pre and post fitting. They are the same as the wheels on my F-Sport.
  14. I can understand that Lexus amongst others have had issues with chip shortages and unable to supply a second key until later. Does anyone know why the locking wheel bolts are unavailable? Are manufacturers experiencing a metal shortage? If they can make normal wheel bolts then surely they can produce a locking variant.
  15. Agree with this. I also wouldn't want a 2020 car with over 76,000 miles.
  16. Brings back memories! I had an import Celica GT4 RC (Japanese version of the Carlos Sainz) and is the car I enjoyed the most. I wish I still had it sometimes.
  17. Hi I had the same issue this morning - TPMS light on, both front tyres showing 2 bar. It was -6 here and the car was parked on the drive. Will need to check the pressures soon (when it's a bit warmer!)
  18. I stayed at a hotel last week in Newcastle near the Glasshouse (Sage) and the parking was £9 per day.
  19. I changed mine recently as I had the same message appear a few weeks ago. Ordered a pack of batteries from Amazon so I have a few spare ones. I contacted my local Lexus dealership and told them this as I've only had this car for a few months. I suggested that they should change both key fob batteries on every used Lexus that they sell. It's a 2 minute job and the cost of the batteries are cheap. I'm just glad I wasn't away on holiday with the car when it happened.
  20. Thanks for your message. Could you expand on what the differences are that make it 'stricter'? I was previously an MOT tester in the UK (nearly 20 years ago!) and I'm genuinely interested in what the differences are. It sounds like you have had some bad experiences with MOT's in the UK. I personally don't get concerned when I take a car for an MOT but I understand others may. You are entitled to ask the tester to put the car back on the ramp and show any items which may have resulted in a fail. I couldn't find a list of testable items for the German test, only that it provides a report at the end.
  21. What is different about the German version compared to the UK (apart from the German test is only carried out once every 2 years)? Thanks
  22. Have any owners done a conversion from a dual mass to a single mass flywheel?
  23. I had an email from a Lexus dealer last week asking if I was interested on the above mentioned deal on the LBX. They told me that so far 140 / 500 orders had been taken.
  24. Dom I would recommend to return to the dealer. Your oil has been overfilled by approx. 1/4 litre. A mechanic will put the car on a ramp and then loosen the sump plug enough to allow a small quantity of oil to drain. They will then recheck the level and hopefully it will be no higher than the max mark! It's a 5 minute job for them to correct for you.
  25. Apart from providing a heat source, I would look into ways of insulating the garage, especially the garage door where a lot of the heat loss occurs. Also, is your garage integral or separate from your home?
