  1. hello mate! nasty mate! ← The scratch looks quite deep- will it rust/corrode? and can I do anything about it (no, I don't mean buy new alloys!) . Looks like I have already secured a rep as the LOC wheel cleaner! :duh:
  2. I think it looks cool and macho and stuff. I think I need to get out more...
  3. Haha rub it in why don't you! I would come round and clean em but I'm washing my hair. Forever.
  4. Hi all! I've been on the site for a few weeks now, but I have not introduced myself- I'm Rav, 24, from London. Hmm its starting to sound like blind date Anyway, just wanted to say the forums seem really decent, and you lot are really helpful/good fun. I am sure I will have loads of questions/problems to bother everyone with :D Right I better be off to polish my wheels, I have already got a huge scratch on em! Take it easy Rav
  5. Hi mate I'm also stuck between the tomtom go and the Navman 510, but I hear the 630 is even better. Where did you buy it from? Do you have a webby address I could look at? Just one thing I am unsure about- I have the shelf on me IS200 which i plan to put the satnav on, but I don't wana use the cradle that comes with these satnav units, is there any way to fix the satnav unit down to the shelf directly so it doesnt move, and is flush with the tray? Cheers
  6. Right, you will never guess what I just found! I was looking through amazon.co.uk for one of those wireless TV senders and I found a customer review for one of them: "A good product - pity about the car problem, January 28, 2004 Reviewer: A electronics & photo fan from Crowthorne, Berks United Kingdom This product was easy to set up and achieved all it promised with regard to wireless TV. I was more than pleased with the quality of the transmission - until my neighbour knocked on the door! He asked me if I was having a problem with the remote opening/closing function of my car key. As it happend, I was and was on the point of taking the car to the garage for checking. His was a new car, and he could not open/close the car doors remotely, nor set his alarm, so he was very concerned. To cut a long story short, the problem was with the transmission from the VL1400, but only if a flourescent light was on in the same room as the receiver unit! I have asked Philips for an explanation and a solution, apart from changing all my study lights from flourescent to filament. " So basically the reason our cars don't lock is because people in the area must have wireless TV senders (and probably also wireless headphones etc)!!! Dodgy stuff...
  7. I think you hit it on the button steve, it's just the individual differences between trunk and leg lengh ratios! So lanky legs win this one then!
  8. Hi mate, I'm 6'2 and I have to say I haven't had a problem with the headroom at all, and I have my seat tilted all the way forward (don't laugh) . I do have it on it's lowest setting, and that really does make all the difference. Thankfully no head injuries yet, but I will keep you informed! Congrats on the new Lex, they're great aren't they!
  9. I have been looking into the tomtom go quite a bit, as well as other options. The Go has something called assisted navigation, meaning it theoretically keeps track of where you are even if you lose signal/go into a tunnel etc. I hear it actually works quite well. My sport doesn't have satnav, and I'm a bit annoyed about it too (like a lot of other lexus peeps out there I see) and I reckon that the Go is a good solution, as you can attach it in the space where the motorised monitor normally goes (and it can be removed when you leave the car) . I had a 2004 satnav is200 for a few days, and I used the tomtom go, and I honestly have to say the Go was much better! The screen update is faster, it has 3d mapping, and is generally really easy to use. There is also a Navman icn510, which u can pick up for about 430 quid, which also looks quite nice, and would fit in well in the space us non-satnav owners have (which obviously needs filling!). If anyone else has any opinions on the tomtom go I would be interested in hearing about em!
  10. Hi mate, I have also had this problem a number of times, and it can be very frustrating. For me there is always this place where I used to park my last car, on the road next to mine, but since i got my IS200 sport I can't park on that particular spot anymore as it wont lock. However, as soon as I take the car further down the road it locks perfectly first time round, but then i have tried taking it back to that same spot on the next road straight away and it doesnt lock again! I have tried all the spare keys and gone through the usual routine, but its always the same. This has also happened when I go out in the evenings, and I have to move my car to a spot where the remote works! I spoke to lexus engineers about this, and they say that all their lexus models have experienced similar problams, and there really isn't anything they can do about it. They said it happens because of interference with the remote/alarm system (which always worries me a little). I have heard of remote jammers and stuff, which block out ur remote from working totally, so I am assuming this is a similar problem. I don't know much about the lexus security system, but I reckon if you live in an area where there is particular radio/electromagnetic radiation, it may be contributing to it. I know for a fact that I can't park on certain spots or anywhere in sight of those spots, as my car just won't lock! I have tried parking my mercedes there and it never has a problem! If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to shout! Rav
  11. Hi dudes, Got a quick question- I got my IS200 sport a few weeks back, and I have noticed that when I change up gear from 1-2-3, i hear a little thud type noise twice, every time i change a geear. This doesn't seem to happen in 4-5-6 though, so I don't think its normal! Is this making any sense at all to anyone? Or do I need to try and explain it a bit better? Cheers, Rav
  12. Hi Guys, This is my first post on this site, so I will try not to offend too much! I am sorry to say this, but from what I have been told, optimax doesn't make any real difference to a car compared with any other petrol that is available these days. I can say this as I know one of the main marketing guys that works for shell, and he has been responsible for selling optimax to the masses. He tells me that it is mostly a marketing/sales pitch, and that most of these additives found in modern day petrol are pretty useless- it's just a cheeky spin in most cases. If he is saying this, working for shell, then there may be some truth in it! Anyway, nice to be on this site, I have read a few threads and it seems like a nice little community :D Take it easy lads, Rav
