  1. Felix, yours is a auto, but yes I am surprised by the MPG I get. Guess its worthwhile using OEM service parts even though my car is 10 years old and has done 136k?
  2. Well I spend £40 a week on fuel and I get 250 miles out of £40 worth of fuel. This is driving in stop/start traffic. Mine's a manual IS200.
  3. I'm looking to replace my 10 year old IS200 within the next year or so and I'd like to go for the GS, and as pointed out the hybrid ones have a small boot. My option would be to go for a used GS300 (I would want a SE-L spec), but I'm also doing more miles now, so I'm starting to look at used BMW 535d M Sports or used Mercedes E280/320CDI Sports. I did test drive a GS450h recently and its a rapid car, but as mentioned the boot is small. I don't buy brand new cars, I tend to buy used cars (say 3 years old) and run them into the ground.
  4. Did the 2nd hand dealership supply the car with a warranty? If they did, the warranty would only cover the engine and gearbox I think??? But go back and ask them to replace the stereo or give you some £££ as a goodwill gesture- if you don't ask you don't get! Was the CD player working before you bought the car?
  5. You need a amp by pass lead (assuming yours is a SE or Sport): By pass lead You will also need a facia (as menitoned): Facia
  6. Probably silver/chrome on a X reg IS200- unless someone else has changed the lights?
  7. If you are intending to keep the car then consider replacing the standard exhuast system with a stainless steel exhaust system.
  8. Is the exhaust system blowing? I guess not otherwise it would have failed the emissions part of the MOT. As its an advisory, in the MOT testers opinion there is surface rust on that part of the exhaust system (it could get worse), the advisory is issued so that you know about it (and so that you can keep an eye on it).
  9. I'd go with your decision- spend a bit more £££ at the pumps and keep the IS200. The cost to change will be a big factor in your decision? My IS200 is almost 10 years old and its done 136k, you shouldn't expereince any major mechanical worries (just regular servicing, wear and tear etc), although I did replace the front shocks on mine last year (@120k)- they were leaking. So this is one area you might want to keep an eye on.
  10. I can also say the same with my IS200- it also feels proper without all the computers running the show. I test drove a GS450h recently and I would agree with your comments- I'm seriously considering replacing my 10 year old IS200 with a used GS450h. I'm also swaying towards a used E60 535D M Sport or a used Mercedes (W211) E320CDI Sport.
  11. I went to the Leeds Open Road Event 2 weeks ago- it was a good day out. I drove the ISF- what a machine!!!
  12. You want a diesel??? Look elsewhere mate- the VAG group cars, BMW, Merc, PSA etc diesel units are better than the offering from Lexus. Have you considered a Honda Accord 2.2CDTI? If I was in the market for a Jap diesel then I would get the Accord- it's a very good car (we have one in the family fleet).
  13. Don't use Bosch spark plugs- Lexus engines don't like em. Use Denso Iridium or NGK Iridium plugs.
  14. Car is located in Bradford- that's enough to put me off (and I'm not far from Bradford).
  15. 90k service is a basic oil and oil filter change and a general inspection/check up of the car. On the general inspection, additional work may get flagged up such as worn balljoints, low discs/pads etc.
  16. You're right mate- round here prices range from 113.9-116.9 for unleaded. No way petrol prices will drop to under a £1 a litre.
  17. Parts for the cambelt (belt, idler and tensioner) cost about £120-£150- the rest is labour. £400 is probably the going rate at a Lexus garage. A Toyota garage might be a bit cheaper? It might be wise to spend a bit more now and get the waterpump changed as well (even if it isn't leaking now)- save on future labour costs.
  18. One of my strips came off (I managed to blast it off with a pressure washer!). I glued it back down, so its not going anywhere now.
  19. You can't just buy the plastic housing- they come complete (casing and metal blade). So you will have to get a new blank blade cut.
  20. Get a blank blade off ebay and transfer the fob (the bit with the buttons on) into the new blade. There should be someone local to you who can cut Lexus keys.
  21. Look at post #2 by E910- you can use either 5w-30 fully sythentic or 10w-40 semi-synthentic. Look in your manual, it also tells you what oil you can use. What oil did they use when you got the car recently serviced?
  22. Look on ebay- loads of sellers there selling radiators for the IS200.
  23. No- the same clip you saw at the front, there is another one exactly the same at the back- unclip both and you can pull the filter housing up. Very easy to change the air filter on IS200- no tools needed.
  24. See where the Lexus logo is on top? Well that's where the air filter lives. There are 2 clips (front and back), unclip these and then lift out the air filter housing (the plastic that has the Lexus logo on).
  25. No. Put your 3 button key into the iginition- if the security light goes out within a few seconds (2-3?), then you have a master key. If it takes longer, then you don't have a master key.
