  1. afraid way to deep to polish... though put in a wee bit of the touch up and it has hidden it to an extent.
  2. So dealer wanting approx £75...oooch...especially as they are small scratches. Chips away guy coming Tuesday to supply a quote. I'm hoping he's a lot cheaper, too lcose in price and I'll just get the dealer to do it as at elast I know they'll do it properly.
  3. I would not drop the leather...heard that it seriously affect the re-sale value as people expect it on this type of car. Heard that the base model RX300's make up only 3% of the RX's...and the base modle also drops loads of other toys..xenons, sunroof, 18" wheels etc etc. Guessing RX400 will be much the same ??
  4. ginstwin, What options you go for ??? I wnet for Mattalic Paint (Brechine Slate) and parking sensors... And since trhen have added; - Boot liner - Vertical cargo net - Horizontal cargo net - Mud flaps. Also got some lovelly new Polish, Swissol, that I've yet to try. I've about 25m more fence to paint before I can allocate the time to polishing the car..
  5. And in a straight line a RX400H will be quicker, but no better in corners & breaking...in fact probably worse as heavier with alllll those batteries.
  6. Well RX300 no performance machine... more luxury than performance, too big, soft, heavy to be quick.. Though auto gearbox means quick get-aways at lights..
  7. Parkers always way to hopeful with the prices... last couple of cars I swapped I got offered exactly what Glass's guide said :( I do wish I'd got Parkers prices though...
  8. 4% is a good discount, and I still think it is worth dealing with someone local... I went down the "getting from local dealer" route and am very happy with the whole process..
  9. Go to www.networkq.co.uk and under "buyers checkslit" your find a link to the Glass's guide. It will tell you how much (little) you get for it as a trade in.
  10. Try www.drivethedeal.co.uk they do UK supplied cars and quote about 7% off list price.
  11. Well I have a RX and have a 14 month old boy to cart around in it...and it is excellent, really easy to get him in/out of the baby seat. That was one of the main reasons I got one. Plus wife eventually wants number 2 so will need the space.. MPG...about 20 on my usual short around town trips, 27 on longer motorway trips.. probably more if I behaved myself more. Aiming for about 30 when engine loosens off a wee bit. Why not aim for the SE rather than SE-L..that way brings cost difference down (£4k less), plus SE is lighter than SE-L, should do more MPG and gets better reviews for ride comfort (strange with the SE-L having air suspension).
  12. Last time I ruined a tyre hitting a pot hole I got a friend to report it, waited 7 days..checked it was still there, and at that point reported I hit it. that way the councils can't use the excuse that they did not know about...... eventually I got a cheque for 2 new tyres :D
  13. Anyone got a ball part figure to re-spray a wing mirror ?? Putting car in garage and forgot to fold in mirrors... only a wee scratch but enough to bug me so I want it fixed. Just no idea how much it will cost...hoping not a lot !
  14. I've one with my initials...much safer than getting one that relates to the car make...just in case I buy another marque next time...
  15. clean, only got caught once but that was years and years ago...
  16. So, on my SE one of the displays on the computer is "cruising range"...but I'm not sure that I understand what it is, is it; 1. Miles till I run out of Petrol ? 2. Miles till low fuel light comes on ? 3. Something else ? Hopefully a simple question...
  17. Heard they believe that about £2k of every rover under 2 has just been wiped off the residuals...and that is before the administrators start dumping even cheaper new ones into the market. Also meant to be 7k plus staff at rover / MG dealers...dont see the government helping out them by paying their wages..
  18. So they do exists...looks liek teh sales man got told porkies... price was expensive £94.95 but worth it if it cuts down on the mud getting chucked on to the side of the car.
  19. That is completely different from what the salesman told me when I was getting the car...have to phone parts department direct I think...
  20. I got an RX300SE last month, my thoughts so far; Paint work, completely immaculate on delivery, I inspected it very closely after reading about another owners issue. Now have one stone chip after a 600 mile trip to hull and back, BUT, this is common on modern cars with their water based paints. Don't think it is any worse than my last BMW which got chips after motorway journeys also... Wheels, if they corrode get them swapped at service time, not something worth doing a long trip over. Not a big deal as long as in warranty... heard similar issues on mazda alloys (father-in-law on second set on his Mazda 6). I also had a set of BMW ones that need replaced through corrosion...think it is a common issue but not worth not getting a car because of it. MPG..26-27 on the inital trip to Hull, about 20 mpg around town. Must say I love the car, never looked at the Nissan as I was wanting more luxury than anything else this time round...which the RX is very good at. certainly no sports car though.. I 'd say buy one.. but I am biased as I bought one and love it..
  21. So far the RX300 is great, BUT, when I tried to order a set of mud flaps I was told that although they are in the accesories booklet they don't actually exist.. Anybody got any ones not from lexus that fit ? I live on a new housing estate and roads are often covered in mud...drives me nuts trying to keep car clean'ish...
  22. Think your are taking that a bit toooo ofar, electronics these days use very little current...I work with semiconductor manufacturer who supplies microcontrollers to the automotive industry and the current consumptions will not affect something like starting.... maybe years ago but now now..
  23. I Always use them...had same thing on my BMW previously but think the BMW worked better, it switched on the headlamps when wipers (auto wipers also) were on. Lexus does not do this which I thing is a bit of an oversight as I think it is safer to have headlamps on when it is raining. One excellent feature on teh Lexus is that you dont have to switch "off" then "on" to activate...this used to drive me nuts on the BMW, BMW said it was so the car did not wipe when blades frozen to the windscreen..like I said a pain. In the Lexus I switched ona dn now leave it alone.
  24. I'm a semi-conductor test engineer...well mostly project manage our cost reduction programs now...
  25. Dealer did mine, inc colour coding for £500... excellent job with no marks etc on bumpers.
