  1. I average about 20mpg, best is about 26-27 of a run behaving myself... to be honest I doubt anything short of a LPG conversion is going to change it much. I tried driving smoothly etc... but end up forgetting and back to usual driving style. I'm fortunate in that I don't do many mile a year ( <8k) so can put up with the mpg, but it still a pain, but nothing I did not know about before I bought it.
  2. guessing it is what we'd call a MK1 version of teh Rx...so can't help answer as I've only been in MK2's.... sure someone with a MK1 will be able to answer your question.
  3. snow has come...and now gone...hardly got a chance to play in in before it went...hoping for more so I can get sledging... :D
  4. me four... deleted what I was going to add, but sure a lot of people think the same.
  5. For once my RX3000 will actually appear to be quick on the road...I must make the most of it before the snow melts and I'm back to being amongst the slowest..
  6. Knowing your budget etc might help narrow it down..... A mate at work bought a IS250 took me for a quick spin yesterday...lovelly. Auto box was soooooo smooth. definitely worth taking for a test drive.
  7. I signed up...can't see any catch and if it comes about it will be excellent.
  8. I'm glad I don't live in London, would really pi$$ me off having to pay to drive on roads I'd already pay towards through fuel and road tax.
  9. Now that is a nice looking car.... but will probably break lots ;) And 15mpg...oooch !... I'd rather have that engine in something more suitable like an SL. In fact I'd rather have an SL with any engine than a ML.
  10. ok...so it is a bit quiet, especially compared to the BMW forum I used to frequent but then again that was... 1. Full of chav's with 316i's trying to make them look like M3's. 2. Full of owners with bits dropping off their cars... Must be Lexus's fault that nothing is falling off our cars, so not a lot to talk about ;) Me... I'm praying for snow... -4c here this morning but no snow to go out and play in ....yet And... something else to talk about...I'm going on a course to learn how to "drift" a car at weekend, absolutely no use in the RX but should be a riot shredding someone elses tyres..
  11. Windows 98...yikes... I did not know anyone used that anymore...well out of date !! Sounds like time for a new operating system, though that will probably mean a PC good enough to run XP also....
  12. Can you not check it online at someone elses house or work ? http://www.tiscali.co.uk/login/index.php?u...email/index.php I found Tiscali to be particulary crap when I moved...ended up cancelling and going with Eclipse....soooooo much better. I also use bigfoot to bounce my email to who ever I'm with, so if I fall out with the ISP I don't have to change email addresses.
  13. I just rinse mine under the tap to ensure no grit etc left... not sure if anything else is required.
  14. Wife has one and once you find a good frequency it works fine, bit annoying initially till you find a suitable "unused" frequency. I borrowed it for a trip to Hull (from Glasgow) and got no interference at all, so not as bad as some make out. Might be more of an issue in London ? Newest iTRIP also now have a display and adjustment buttons on it so switching frequencies is now easier.
  15. Ehhh ? Why is this specifically in the RX300/RX400 section ? thought it would be under the general discussion forum ??
  16. Yes that was for a set of 4... There was some drilling...but only into the plastic so no worries about rust etc. They do look very neat, just not as deep as I thought they would be and hence don't stop as much muck getting thrown up. I live on a new housing estate and the roads are "boggin" quite often hence why I got mine.
  17. I got them for the RX300.... tiny and hardly do much at all... I think they were £94ish...and I fitted them myself....
  18. If only you could get the doors to auto-lock on the Lexus, I had that on my BMW and wife had it on her Laguna... not going to stop them if they have a gun, but does stop someone opening doors at lights etc. I keep on forgetting in the Lexus. Glad the owners are ok, in end of day that is all that matters, a car can always be replaced.
  19. never knew that....going to bug me now that I know it does that though.... :(
  20. Never found anything that will stop paint chips..a good layer of wax will help protect the paint work and should make it easier to clean. I can recommend the guy that supplied my Swissol stuff...I just follow his suggestions when it comes to car car, always been spot on. He can also advise on what wax is best for your colour etc. Sure there is a Swissol one that is absolutely superb on Black cars, leave it looking like the surface is like oil (if that makes sense)...if you want his email address just PM me.
  21. Are these wash mitts really that good ? I've often thought about buying one, but just can't let go off the sponge. :D Oh BTW koshime, in my opinion I wouldn't bother with a claybarring for a good year - and also wouldn't bother with polishing for a good few months. You have a brand new car with brand new paint and brand new lacquer. There really shouldn't be any need to remove these coats providing you keep the car in a good clean condition. Stick to shampooing and waxing for the first few months, then have a look into polishing. :winky: ← The wash mitts are excellent...even if the wife does slag me off for washing the car with them. The meguires one I've found to be the best, I tried a cheaper halfords one but no where near as good. Another thing to point out is that a lot of the polishes can be abrasive (Autoglym silicon resin polish etc)... not required on new paint work. I've use the Swissol wax etc partly as it is not abrasive...same with pre-wax cleaner, so it does not thin the paint / laquer or add "swirls to paint work... speaking of which always polish in straight lines...no circles.
  22. My thoughts... 1. I use autoglym bodywork shampoo conditioner... decent price and does not strip off the polish I add to car. I save my ££ for spending on a good carnuba wax. 2. I only clay bar once a year after the winter to get rid of oxidation and crap that builds up over winter. 3. Best stuff I've tried is "swissol"...(just not that cheap)... I use the pre- wax "cleaner fluid"...literally leaves the paint work soooo clean it squeaks. I then apply a layer of wax, can get about 3 coats of wax in without the pre-treatment. Shine is amazing and water beads for ages. 4. Never use sealant, just re-apply wax about every 2-3 months. Also would recommend a meguires wash mitt.. sponges just hold the dirt and you end up scratching the car. Their drying cloth also excellent...a lot better (and gentler) on paint work than a natural Chamois.
  23. ← I have now bough a BMW 535d, 0-62mph in 6.5s and 35mpg overall. Kaldoc ← Nice car...I test drive one and thought it was excellent...reallllly quick. What put me off was the cost to spec it the way I wanted (leather, zenon headlamps, decent stereo) etc...came out wrong side of £42k... Plus after finding out that anything you add to a BMW adds nothing to resale I was very reluctant to go down that route. If you find the ride a wee bit hard swap out the run flats, know a guys who did that on a 535d and said it transformed the ride...he kept same wheels and "just" had to swallow the cost of 4 tyres.
  24. only way is down...come on the RX300 was only #3 so a couple of places up to go yet.... :winky: Think there will always be "friday" afternoon cars...hence always room to improve... and i honestly do hope Mercedes finally get back to what they used to be good at...engineering. BUT, until they do, and it is shown in such surveys, there is no way I'd even consider one, no matter how good it appears at first.
  25. And in the top gear results just out the M-class came a great 155th out of 159...wow...just makes you want to rush out and buy an M-class....NOT !!!! Let's face it they can only get better in the new model, and that will only be seen over time. And where did the RX300 come... 3rd overall...and 1st in class !!! Ok....getting a wee bit smug now...
