  1. Good time of year to look at ex-demo's... I was in Lexus Glasgow and know they're in the process of selling off their demos....that is what I'll be looking for next time, hopefully save a few ££
  2. So this is all as clear as mud, but one point... New band G is only applicable to cars registered after March 23rd 2006...so my car will stay in band F :)
  3. Nope... look up http://www.dvla.gov.uk/vehicles/taxation.htm and it shows Band E 166-185 ! So band F....over 185 (and now under 225) and it was £165...but went up £25 today so £190.......unless it comes under the "alternative fuel banding...is which case it will be £185.....??? Nope... a manual is250 is 231 (g/km)..so yes now in band G at £210...however if you got an is250 auto it is 214 (g/km) so band F and "only" £190...
  4. As it is done on emissions... with the Rx400h, the emissions of 192 (g/km) put the RX400h in band F....which just went up £25 to £190... So £20 a year saving over the RX300... plus alll the less petrol it uses (in warm weather, at low speed etc) ;) Still lets be honest, if I spend £35k on a car another £45 a year is not going to make me swap, or influence my decision in any way...
  5. I got a new set of alloys out of BMW when my 330Ci ones started bubbling...difference was that they would not replace the single one that had been replace one as it had been kered and re-furbished (not by me..it was 6 months old when I got it)..so I ended up paying for one... just before I traded it I noticed it was happening again, and that was at about 1 year since the new set went on. I think Lexus are a bit more forgiving than BMW, I know my fathers Rav4 had 3 kerb'd alloys when he collected it and as they were also corroding the dealer replaced then with no question.
  6. wow..reallly impressed if a RX400h can outpace a supercharged range rover... I'll maybe have a go at getting a hurl in one tomorrow when my car is in for a service. I did think that short of the turbo it would be quicker than the Porsche..they are massive cars and weigh loads.
  7. still think the range rover would leave the RX400h standing..... . . . . .and would be at the petrol pump WAY more often, brother had a RR sport supercharged thing out and got an average of 6mpg...ok he was not hanging around but 6mpg...yikes !
  8. mmm...and the £30,000 he's saved by buying a smart car in no way makes up for having to pay the congestion charge ??? ;) ooo...and up here no congestion charges :)
  9. I also signed up...and like has been said can't see it being bad in anyway.
  10. So remember...UK gallon is larger than the american gallon.... So if if the US you'll definietly record less mpg... try looking at http://www.onlineconversion.com/fuel_consumption.htm for a convertor 24mpg (american) = 28.8 mpg (UK)
  11. Well I think mine are fine... done 8k miles and is a year old. Though might have to change my mind if the dealer reports any issues next week at the service. I also experienced the same issue on my MR2 roadster where I got a new set of weels at 2 years old...guessing it is a common toyota issue.
  12. Sooooo much fun out playing in the 8" of snow today in Glasgow.... even got to press the "snow" button. Only downside is the lack of hand brake...makes it harder to get car sideways in the empty car parks :D
  13. It could be the air suspension system settling, that is if you have that on your vehicle. Tony RX400h's dont have air suspension...dropped to compensate for the extra weight of the batteries..
  14. Is this after a run ? If so might be exhaust cooling ??
  15. I went onto www.drivethedeal.co.uk and found what they'd give me on a RX300...about 7%, BUT that is with no trade in...I managed to get 5% off the dealer with a reasonable trade in. I was told 5% is what the dealer makes...and that the other 2% was based on bonus's etc so they were just not prepared to negotiate that bit at all. Personally I'd look for a 6 month old ex-demo one and save a few ££...scary amount of depreciation on the RX300's in the first 6 months, presuming RX400 should be better but still will drop a lot initially.
  16. You can get the reversing camera on the SE...but only when you get teh SATNAV...approx £2,500.... Other wise there is nothing, I got parking sensors added by dealer ~£500
  17. Not sure you'll ever get the convertible thing out your system...I still miss my MR2 roadster and got rid of it 3 years ago...everytime it is sunny I wish the roof was not there..
  18. Sounds good...just tooo early for me :( ..probably end up looking for something similar is a couple of years... out of interest what are the 3 letter on the private plate ? Tell him to try advertising on www.porschaforum.co.uk and www.pistonheads.co.uk normally a good Porsche following there.
  19. I saw a white RX400h yesterday.... not as bad looking as I thoght, ok in fact I actually liked it (just don't tell eveyone)....anyway, you must be able to get hold of one...
  20. Same colour combination as me...excellent choice ! The cars are excellent, had mine for a year and it's going in for its first service with nothing at all for them to look at. They are not perfect, then again no cars are and I do think that we get fussy as cars are so good we end up focusing down on things that on other cars would be hidden by all the other issues.
  21. I also would like a 911 as my next car...probably aiming at a 4-5 year old 996 in a couple of years, might get luicky and get a 997. Wife has a company car (normally an estate) so I can get something fun without worry tooo much about the practicality. Just have to wait till my son is a bit older so he can himself in/out the car himself. Think only way round the horrendous depreciation is to spend the £35k-£40 or so I plan to spend on a older car...which hopefully will not drop as much year on year. It will cost more in repairs / maintainence but think a 911 would be worth it.
  22. Can't think of many if any car manufacturers that offer upgrade paths on their stereos...???? And if that is what you reject the car on what one you aiming for ? And why not get a 6 month old car and not take the full initial depreciation, that is if there are 6 month old RX400h's available..
  23. White..YUK... would that not kill the resale value of it ?
  24. I always ended up with the "average" value... no matter how good condition my car was in. Personally I'd recommend looking for a 6 month old car...saw drops of approx £4k off list at that point and that would mean you could get a SE for the price of a LE. Ex-demo cars also look good, though they tend to come fully loaded and anything you save just goes in paying for those extras.
  25. I eventually got 5% off...and more for my BMW 330Ci...but did take a bit of persuasion... don't go in expecting loads and loads off..it is not a ford afterall. Get the glass's guide price (If you don't have it already) fromm www.networkq.co.uk then under "buyers guide" go to "value my car".... I got exactly what they classed as average even though mine was pristine. Don't believe parkers guide. Might also be worth contating Lexus Edinburgh and see what they will do, the dealer principle is on here some where.
