  1. You could get one of those HKS ssqv blow off valves as they are adjustable for boost pressure and sound. They are about £200 though. Anyway Galla, where bout in Ireland you from?? Reason I'm asking is cos if you can hold out a few weeks then I should have my turbo installed and running and you could prob meet me and have a look/test at the car.(I'm in Belfast). I also know GRiM from this site who lives down the street from me. His car is supercharged and he is a top bloke so I'm sure he would take you a run in his car if you ask him nicely so you can compare the two mods.
  2. Yous have all got it easy for insurance in the mainland, at least compared to us in N.Ireland. The only people who would even give me a quote at all are elephant.co.uk and for a 22 year old with 3 years NCB and no claims on a "standard" is200 the quote was £1600.
  3. Looks well Gord but I've got a quicky for ya! When you ordered the gasket for the manifold to block, did it come in two parts? By this I mean 2 totally seperate gaskets. I ordered a gasket for mine and a three cylinder gasket came but it looked like it would split in two as it was double plated! Just wondering if it is supposed to split or if I need the two double plated gaskets??? :duh:
  4. I am interested in uprating the injectors in my car to higher capacity for the turbo installation. Simply I want to know if I can fit injectors from a supra or is300 etc. If not, are there any injectors that I could use to do the job? Thanks in advance! :D
  5. If there are +ve and -ve right and a +ve and -ve left rear outputs, then it shouldn't matter. you should be able to simply connect the corresponding wires. If it is wired oddly (which sounds likely) then I would run seperate wires all the way to the rear speakers. Dunno why they would wire the fronts normally and not the rears though? Nothin is ever simple eh!!
  6. Somebody has taken the splashgaurd out and not fitted it right. You would be better off finding out some history on the car if you can. Reason being, it sound like this car has been crashed along the line and not properly fixed. That could cause 2 buckled wheels, damaged suspension arms and also replaced bumber that could have meant the splash gaurd was not fitted to the new bumper correctly! I removed my bumper to get the intercooler from the s/c out and my mate never put the splash gaurd on right. Consequently I developed rubing on full lock while reversing and the splash gaurd then came off at 135mph and pinned itself against the wheel taking a large patch off my tyre!
  7. The Autoleads address is www.autoleads.co.uk I don't think that you can connect your speaker wires from an aftermarket head unit to the standard wiring harnes for the factory head for the reason that you just stated:- The factory head unit simply sends signals to the factory amp which in turn produces the sound from those signals. As far as I know, the factory amp will not recognise the feed from an aftermarket head unit. As for the S model, I really don't know what the setup is there. I don't think they have a factory amp but they could also be wired starngely :duh: I have never seen the setup in an S. What I do know for certain is that you can bypass the factory amp by connecting your speaker wires from the aftermarket headunit to the speaker wires coming out of the factory amp to the speakers. This way is also a lot easier than running speaker wire to every speaker in the car! :D
  8. I just checked out the video/sound clips of the exhaust there and it sound to be as perfect as it looks!!! :D I should deffo be puying one of these in the near future Dave. (after the turbo gets done!!! :P
  9. Autoleads do a facia plate for the IS that allows single or double din units to be used. I have one in my car and it is spot on! I don't think you can get an iso connector for the IS because of the standard factory amp setup. You will most likely have to run speaker wires to either the speakers themselves or the outputs on the factory amp!
  10. I was thinking of .6 or maybe .65 as I said before! I have great confidence in the guy who is doing the mapping and the Autronic ECU that we are using so I don't think that will be a problem. I think I will set it at .6 bar until I hear more. Thanks again lads! :)
  11. I wouldn't get Lexus to do it!!!!!!!
  12. Talbot- I don't know exactly what the cost is going to be but it is under 4K. Dave- I was speaking to the fella who is mapping my car yesterday. I am using an Autronic ECU for the fuelling. If you haven't heard of these then just think of Motech only better! They are designed by the guy who designed Motech software except he sold the rights to Motech and opened up again with Autronic after re-designing all the software to make it better. I'll be running an uprated fuel line too. The only thing I need to find out is if I need bigger injectors and if I can use ones from an is300 or supra etc etc. I'll keep you posted anyway man. Spock- that sounds fairly impressive on standard internals. How long have you been running that setup for, if you don't mind me asking? I was thinking along the lines of 6.5-7 bar myself but the last thing I want is to blow the engine. Oh, and thanks guys for the advice so far!!!
  13. Hello peeps, I have been speaking to the guys doing my turbo conversion in my is200 and I was asking them what boost I could run. They told me that I could run any boost I want as long as the engine can handle it. So, the question is: What boost can the standard is200 engine take without blowing? I want it to be safe without the fear of risking detonation etc. I know that it can safely take .5 bar but I was thinking of pushing it a bit further Help would be much appreciated!!
  14. My current IS200 is my second one in Granite sky. TBH, I wanted a black one until I seen Steve advertising his and then I jumped at it. In the end I now think that Granite sky is the right colour because as I said, this is my second IS in the same colour and I haven't got bored of the colour yet!!! :D Still wouldn't say no to black though.
  15. Yeah man it will work! The only reason there is a standard factory amp is because of the way the standard head unit works. The standard head unit doesn't actually give out any sound as such, it just sends the sound to the factory amp which in turn powers the speakers. It works in the same way that an aftermarket head unit would except it would have a built in amp! GAZ-MAN you are correct. There is no reason it shouldn't work as all the after market amp is doing is amplifying the sound in order to run a bigger amount of watts to the sub. :P
  16. The car is looking fooking wicked!!! Just a quick question for ya Mr. S What work did you have to do to get those 19's on (especially the 10x19's on the rear??????
  17. You could always strip one end of the RCA's and connect them to the outputs on the standard factory amp (behind glove box, left hand side). Then simply plug the other end into the aftermarket amp and hey presto!!! It's a fiddly job but it is a cheap solution if you don't want to start getting too technical etc.
  18. As far as I know the remote wire basically sends +12v from the head unit when the head unit is switched on. On this basis I would say that you should be able to connect the remote wire to the positive IGNITION wire that is powering your head unit. This will mean that when you turn the ignition on for your head unit, you will also get a +12v going to your amp/s that will give them the signal to turn on. As a last resort you could simply run a +ve feed via a switch to your remote wire/amp and ust turn it on/off each time you are using it. Only problem with this is that you may forget to turn it off sometimes and then it's good bye battery!!
  19. Yeah you need the by-pass module. I have also ordered one of these from Fargo. Send him a pm and he will sort you out!!
  20. I just got a set of C-west brows although I do like the Tom's ones. The only problem with the C-west ones is that they make the light look more sleepy than aggressive, if ya know what I mean!
  21. Hello people, I have got a set of the lexus door sill plates on the car (they came with the car). The Lexus writing is supposed to light up blue when you open the door but unfortunately they don't. I have tried wiring them straight into the light on the inner side of the door but they still won't work. Does this mean that they are fooked or do they just need to be wired in a certain manor? I'd love to get these working as they look really good when lit at night when you open the door! Help please!!!
  22. Hey mine is very similar although not obtrusive on my IS. Kinda worrying still as I have uprated discs on the car already!
  23. There are some crazy techno wizards on here But hey, I was looking to get sky installed in my new house and have seen all these silly offers. Do any of you guys know what is the best offer to go for if any? I also have to get the phone line put in first and was gonna see if I could get an internet package in too as I have an old PC waiting. What is the cheapest way to get a fast internet connection (none of the 56k muck!) and phone line and Sky package all in and working??? I know very little about modems and PC's and stuff like that!
  24. Is this how you take the baffles out??? and how much louder does it actually go??? Sound clips would be absolutely superb!!
  25. I was thinking along the lines of the IS200 throttle. Just in case came to mind! But yeah I see what you mean Mr Morse :shutit: Still a shame it doesn't work on the 200 though!!!
