  1. 3 feet front and rear is a sensible gap to leave when parallel parking, I certainly wouldn't call it excessive. Any less and you risk someone scuffing your bumper corners.
  2. Which is fine, but they only list the Mk1/2 LS400, and only do them in black... :winky: OP, try these guys, I'm going to give them a bash myself.
  3. Fronts are 8.5*19 with 225/40R19, and rears are 9.5*19 with 245/40R19. Their not really that stretched, it appears moreso because Nankang NS1 have the rim protector on the tyre edge.
  4. It's raining out, but I realised I still haven't taken any pics of the car. Bought in December for £1000, I've spent about £1300 since in wheels, tyres, lights, and getting the cambelt done. Also racked up 7000 miles in 6 months. Who cares about fuel costs!
  5. ACLex's LS400 MK3 is an excellent example, and I bet if you waved £1500 in cash under his nose, he'd throw in the clear front and side indicators...
  6. You struggle to find anything but a dog of a MK4 for a grand, but finding a decent MK3 will be straightforward.
  7. 6800K is the best option for HID. Crisp brite white light and perfectly legal in an lamp enclosure designed for HID bulbs.
  8. See, I'm in the opposite camp. I find the lines of the MK3 much more bold and defined. I think the MK1/2 is a little too 'soft'. Just my opinion though, it'd be a boring place if we all liked the same thing!
  9. It's generally acknowledged now that the 1UZ engine is quite happy with 90k cambelt changes. After all, that's the interval for the cambelt for North America cars. Oh, and a 1994 would be the last of a Mk2.
  10. Probably 10-12k With petrol at an average of £1.35/litre, and LPG at £0.79/litre, plus taking a typical LPG conversion at £1500, and an average fuel consumption of 24MPG, it would take around 18 months for you to effectively pay for the installation costs of the LPG system. That's 18 months before you see any savings at all. You'll need to bear that in mind, how long were you thinking of keeping the LS400 for once converted? Hmmm - thanks for that. I'm anticipating at least 12 months. But presumably the car will be worth a little more if it is LPG converted so hopefully I'd get back a reasonable proportion of the cost. I guess the issue is would someone buy an LPG 400 with over 200,000 miles on it. Sorry, but in my head that makes no sense at all. In 12 months time, you'll be around £500 worse off if you convert the car to LPG, than if you continued to just use petrol. Even if you recoup the £500 difference through selling the car, you're still no better off, so I don't see the point in going to all that trouble for zero benefit.

  12. Removing a wheel, taking off the old tyre, putting a new one on, and balancing and putting back on the car, takes about 15 mins. So multiply that buy four to get an hourly turnover of £60. The member of staff changing the tyre won't be a minimum wage monkey, probably on around £15/hr, plus all of the other overheads associated with the business, plus the cost of disposal of the tyres, I don't thing £15/tyre is that expensive.
  13. That can come later, the rear pipes are downturned anyway, so you wouldn't even be able to tell from the rear unless you got down on the ground.
  14. Taking the rear resonators off doesn't cost anything. Just 2 mins and an angle grinder! ;)
  15. Bear in mind that's with the camera under the back bumper. You still barely hear the idle from 6' away.
  16. Many thanks. Brought them Mike Where did you bring them from? ;)
  17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCdQPOHCrw8 Here's mine with the rear resonators removed. It's really not that much louder than stock.
  18. What is the reason for scrapping? Transplanting the 1UZ-FE into other cars is popular, the engine and box will be worth £3-400 alone.
  19. Any normal bulb that says 'xenon look' simply means they'll have a blue tint. They certainly won't match the light output of a proper xenon system. I'd not both with cheap 'non-brand' bulbs, it's really a false economy. I tried some 'hyper white' ebay specials in my LS400, and one blew after only 4 days use.
  20. Do you have pics etc.? Brian :) Not yet, I'm still in the process of fettling my Tanabe lowering springs to get the perfect ride height-vs-comfort setting.
  21. No reason an exhaust will effect the running of an engine, although a very short one would result in lack of back pressure. I've seen Lexus V8s installed into all sorts of cars running straight through exhausts, no silencing at all.
  22. I think you should go to confession as soon as possible for having such a wicked thought, not even sure if such a thought is forgivable! :shutit: You'll hate my LS then...
  23. I already removed the rear boxes from my LS. They are not silencers, but resonators. The system - from the front - goes 2 cats, into 1 pipe, single centre resonator, pipe splits into two, two centre silencers, two rear resonators. It has made pretty much no difference in the sound at all by removing the rear resonators. Next step for me will be the centre resonator, as per this chap...
