  1. No snow mode on my MkIII. Doesn't snow mode just lock out 1st gear? In which case, I can't see how it could improve fuel consumption, as your pulling away in second gear.
  2. Cant see why all manufacturer's dont use the Chip???????? if it works, but I doubt it. Mike The only way these chips try and 'improve' fuel consumption is by remapping the injectors to run dangerously lean, which is turn vastly decereases engine performance and will inevitably damage the engine components.
  3. I'll be the first to state 'b*llsh*t' to the 20% fuel consumption improvement.
  4. If you are paying more than £1000 for a Mk1/Mk2 then you are paying too much. A decent Mk3 can be had for between £800 and £1300, and decent Mk4s start around £1800. Your £500 will buy a Mk1/2, but because of the age they will be tired and almost certainly in impending requirement for a cambelt change. Add another couple of hundred pounds to get a decent Mk2, or a couple more for a decent Mk3.
  5. Nothing wrong with that Mk4, I placed several bids on it on eBay, but unfortunately could make the reserve price so settled for my Mk3. It's done in the 'typical' Japanese VIP style of modification, which is very popular in Asia and North America. There are a few followers of the scene in the UK, myself included, nad no doubt if you scour other sections of this very forum you will find a typical example of a black 2GS done in the same style, including widening the arches. The owner lives in London.
  6. I did not know that mine are prototypes???? :o Andy If you look on the Meister R website, there is no application listed for Lexus LS400.
  7. I put an enquiry in to Meister R and learnt that their Europa series is not in production for the UCF20 LS400, and that the car shown in this thread is wearing a prototype set of coilovers. Jerrick at Meister R said that if demand was high enough, he would manufacturer a run of coilovers for the LS400. I've already registered my interest, so any of you thinking about the same, I'd suggest you drop Jerrick a line on Info@MeisterR.com and let him know you are also interested.
  8. If you look in the MK3 handbook, the TC button is shown, but only on the LHD dashboard layout.
  9. Be aware that there is no 'off-the-shelf' wiring harness to plug your proposed Clarion into the Lexus audio system. This is because most aftermarket head-units have on-board amplifiers, and feed sound directly to the speakers. The standard LS400 head unit is 'pre-amp' and has no internal amp, instead feeding its signal to an amp under the passenger seat, which then amplifies the signal and feeds it to the speakers. If you wish to use an aftermarket head unit, you will have to modify your audio wiring to bypass the amplifier and feed from the headunit straight to the speakers. You will also lose the stock subwoofer, as it is fed from the amplifier.
  10. I have one of only 2 sets of 19" Petrol Fate in the country. I got them for £300 from eBay There are a few sets of 18" around, but the wheel was a US-market only wheel and as such are rare over here. I've not taken any pics of my car yet.
  11. That's pretty much what I get. It's just, in the world of "non-self-incriminating word substitution", I'm sure you mean 0.85 leptons, unless your LS is a lot faster than we think! ;)
  12. Really 'open' wheels like those Mitsi rim don't work on a heavy looking car like the LS. You need something a bit 'sturdier' looking, like a fat 5 spoke or monoblock design. I have these on my LS, probably a bit fussy for what you are after.
  13. My LS400 stock ride height is not far off that. Needs to be a little lower for my personal preference. I'm about to bring back some Megan Racing coilovers from the States at the end of the month, they are highly rated and will cost me around £500. That's with me shipping them personally, and 'avoiding' VAT and duty though! ;) I'm in London and travel down to see my folks in Southampton regularly, so would also be up for a meet.
  14. It's around 20 litres, as it normally takes around 70 litres to fill when the reserve light comes on, after I've driven for about 10 miles or so, and the take capacity is 85 litres.
  15. What!?! WHAT!?!?! (you do know the correct 'conversion' factor for leptons, I take it?) ;)
  16. The UK-spec indicators have a reflector in the driving light part, so there is no cable for it. I've wired mine into the sidelight feed, and used a silver amber bulb to give amber marker lights. I think a permanent white light to the side of the car would look a bit odd. My clear/red rear lamps also have provision for a small red marker light at the rear too, so I'll be wiring that in shortly as well. I was goint to put in clear lights because I thought the amber ones were not legal here? Perfectly legal to have amber front, and red rear, side marker lamps. Take the E60 BMW 5-series as example.

  18. Given the current marketplace, a Mk1/2 LS400 with low miles isn't worth much over £1000. Ultra low mileage cars really don't command a premium. Most wear and tear items are subject to aging as well as mileage wear, plus would you reall wan't to buy a car that only had it's mechanics exercised as very low, infrequent periods?
  19. What's the model number of the H/U please? hi, its Pioneer FH-P80BT Many thanks, I've seen that before, looks very nice. Shame you can get it with green or white display, to tie in with the rest of the interior instrumentation in the LS.
  20. That is for the earlier LS400 :( I am in the process of getting all my parts together to do this :) Andy I'm pretty sure that they will have it for the mkIII as well. Do a seach on Ebay US wiring harness---> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LEXUS-PREMIUM-Radio-w-Amp-Wire-Harness-1992-2000-/190489826213?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3ALexus%7CModel%3ALS400&hash=item2c5a1413a5 Fascia mkIII ---> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1995-2000-LEXUS-LS400-DOUBLE-DIN-RADIO-INSTALL-KIT-8153-/200416384516?pt=Car_Audio_Video&hash=item2ea9bf5604 That harness will NOT work on Mk3/4 cars, regardless of the age range stated on the listing. There is currently NO mass-produced adaptor harness to allow you to run an aftermarket headunit with the standard Lexus audio system. That is because the stock Mk3/4 headunits have pre-amp speaker outputs [this means you have to run the signal through an external amp to produce sound], whilst most aftermarket headunits have their own small internal amp. You cannot mix the technology up, which is why when installing a new headunit in a Mk3/4 you have to by-pass the stock amp and sub.
  21. I'm glad he repainted the wheels. They were black and really didn't look right. I had a cheeky bid on it the last time it was on eBay, but didn't have the funds!
  22. britrb's first link above takes you to eBay auctions that sell both the Mk1/2 and Mk3 style clear front indicators. Looks like the seller are quite happy to post worldwide, so there is your best place to buy them.
  23. Bah, that's nothing! Lowering, some rear camber adjustment, stretched tyres, and a rolled arch lip will see those wide boys fit!
