Not too up on the senders bobble - never had an issue. They would be behind the rear boot lining though on the tank I would think. Surely though if the tank is filled up and he's getting a ot of miles before the next fill, then the tank is fine. Interesting you tube post here. Start the car and leave to run with the tab still pushed over to allow air out, it has something to do with the float sticking as the tank in the IS200 is in 2 halfs.

One question - how many miles is he getting from a full tank? If it's 300+ then the tank is filling correctly so it suggests the sender. Or, in extreme, even the guage itself but I've never heard of one doing this in any car.

It should have generated an error code if the situation is as bad as it seems. Get the codes read

Once the car has all warmed up, does the power steering issue go away? If it does, it would suggest a slipping belt when cold.

You'll probably also find small cracks in the surface at that age. Mine had done 124k and they were all well in need of changing.

You may find your FM stations need re inputting afterwards, but that's about it.

Are you sure the belt is ok? I had this on mine recently after the belt was changed, it 'snatched' and was jerky at standstill and felt wrong when moving. Belt was tightened and it's perfect now.

I've had my IS200 from 1 year old and the windows have never cleared, so it's not old seals that prevent the clearing. It's just the way they are.

I use Firefox and have the same pagine issue. select - enter works for me too.

Min's on 124k and I've just had the cam belt replaced (2nd time of doing) as they are @ 60k intervals. The old one looked perfect!. The auxillary belts were also replaced as they were original and the only one that was a bit cracked was the alternator belt, which I thought was the case as I had a sqeak under load. Running perfectly, engine and box are like new. In all the 124k it's never needed anything replacing under the bonnet apart from normal service items. But the bloody wheels need refurbing (again). Previous ones were from Lexus but I'm not going there again as they only last about 18 months before showing major signs of corrosion. So currently looking for somewhere in Essex that will do a good job with minimal fuss.

Mine was steering only. I did read a detailed explanation somewhere recently about as cars get older and things wear they are all just that little bit of a contributing factor to something rearing its head. So putting new discs on can cure the problem temporarily as it tips the balance back under the overall tolerance limits for the issue in question. Then the discs age a bit and the overall tolerance levels of all the components drops past the baseline again. Probably not explaining it well.

The large bushes on the front lower steering control arms are a known cause of judder at speed.

I have the 5 spoke wheels which are reaching the point where they are spoiling the car because of corrosion on them. I live in the Essex area. Anyone know of a good place to get them refurbished? I want to retain the diamond cut edges (and yes, I know that's the prime cause of the laquer peel but it looks naff without it).

Just my half penneth on this. When I changed my discs last year (OEM Lexus ones) I had the 'wobble' appear. I bouhgt a run out guage from Amazon and the run out was about 4x the limit. It had only begun after the disc change so I took the discs back off, and really really cleaned the mating surfaces of both hub and disc until they were shiny. I then put it all back together and measured the run out and lo and behold - within tolerance. The axle hubs had rust on the surface which may be almost invisible but you can feel it as slight uneveness which was not allowing the disc to mate flat with it. After that, no wobble. Bear in mind that the runout tolerance is tiny - about 0.030mm.

I drive the wife's nearly new 1.4 turbo Golf (petrol). It goes well but you know it's a four pot - not a particularly nice sound at all. Always glad to be back in the IS200

Good man. I have fond memories of mine, even though I ended up replacing just about all the major components over my 6 year ownership from about 1978 onwards. They are easy to work on though - I had engine removal down to less than half an hour :-)

And I like the red IS200. Mine's platinum (much more common).

Ian, I look forward to hearing about the replacement. Last year, I bought an E39 530 Sport (2003 5 series BMW). It was the much sought after Champagne edition. I had wanted one for ages. I had it 3 months during which time all it did was go wrong and the drive was not quite as I had imagined. God I'm glad I didn't get rid of the Lexus. BWM now sold and back in the IS200. Which doesn't go wrong.
