Rear Seat Removal On '94 Ls

Recommended Posts

I'm expecting to have to take out the rear seat, in order to allow access to the rear suspension struts which may have to be removed so that the upper control arms can be replaced. (I'm sincerely hoping that the arms can be replaced without having to remove the struts - can anyone confirm?)

On the basis that the seat has to come out, can anyone tell me the whereabouts of the various connectors for the seat heating pads? (My '90 LS didn't have this and seat removal was easy.)

Any advice would be most gratefully received :)

There's plenty of room to get the arm out, it's just the bolts that are playing up. I've found that 1 bolt comes out no problem, but for the other one I've used a set of spring compressors to get it out.

Today I gave all the relevant bolts - including the lower damper bolt - a good dose of Plusgas ahead of the 'operation' next week.

Two questions concerning the actual ball-joint nut:

1. It looks pretty inaccessible to me. How does one get a wrench in there when the CV joint is just below?

2. What's to stop the ball itself rotating when you undo/do up the nut? (Is it keyed in some way?)

Not that any of this will be my problem... Except when I get the bill! :-0

  • 1 year later...

Got a guy coming to put my tow Bar electrics in tomorrow, so thought I'd remove rear seat to make it simpler.

I can't find or see any Tabs as per the "how to" post.  Has anyone taken out their rear seat. I assume that the tabs are in the centre each side but a mirror and torch shows nothing and not wasy to even pry any space with my fingers.  Help!

Mercedes had the ring pulls just visible each corner. So simple.
