Dvd, Mp3 Playback From Ice To Mm Audio System 05 Rx, Incorrect Speed R

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone

I recent become a proud owner of a 55 RX400h SE-L, Its good all the bells and whistles but I am curious to see how I can better enjoy MP3 and DVD playback front the front seat. I only just noticed that the in dash 6 Disc changer is a CD changer not DVD so I cannot play DVD in the front, but I have ICE DVD player and screens in the back.

Can I at least get audio front the ICE system hooked to the MarkLavison system?

Second thing is my speedo reading are exactly 5 miles below my actual speed, has anyone experienced this? and should I be suspecting the mileage may have been knocked back?

I bought the car from a Lexus dealer Lister Lexus to be precise and they offered 2 years extend warranty on a 55 plate RX!

Any input will be greatly appreciated thanks

Kal

Usually there is a difference between the speed measured by a GPS device and the car's speed meter. But the speed shown by the car is higher than the actual. This is done on purpose - they want you to think you already speeding.

But you wrote the speed meter is 5 miles higher than actual (measured with GPS I presume) so the most logical reason is change of the tire length, although 5 miles difference is way too much. The mileage of the car has almost nothing to do with the actual speed, so i shouldn't worry.

You should be able to play DVDs in the front 6xCD/DVD changer, however for obvious safety reasons, this will only work with the foot brake on, or to be more accurate, unless the foot brake is applied you will get sound but no picture.

I see your RX400 is a 2009 so its a very deferent package to my 05 RX400h, my says 6 CD charnger the words DVD, MP3 and WMA are not written on the unit as is the case in the manual that came with the car.

Yes its measured by GPS, I know calibration errors are common but as you already pointed out the reading is usually higher not lower, my previous IS300 read 77miles when am doing 70miles but in this RX it read 30miles when doing 35miles and 75miles when doing 80miles, thus placing me or another driver in a position to break the law and possibly incur points and fines.

The only possible reason i can think of is if the arrow on the speedmeter was removed and then wrongly placed back or similar.

Exactly and that makes me wonder what was someone doing in there in the first place???

Very weirdly interesting piece, I will not ask why but if I had that much time on my hands, the things I would do. What are the odds that my cars milage has being adjusted bought it from a Lexus dealer got paper work of the previous services and so on.

If you have the paperwork that ties servicing and MOT tests to the current indicated mileage, then the odds are that it is correct.
