  2. So the way I ended up solving this is by using a NA (North America) Radar and Driving Support ECU. Depending on which car you have, it might be easier to find EU parts.
  3. Honda Toyota and Lexus are all in the same excellent league. Nissan is nowhere near as good for lots of reasons: After sales service, build quality, Renault parts and so on.......
  4. Thank you, £6480 per year to borrow a car is definitely 😂 to me. I erased the error code last week after reading it and knowing what it is. The check hybrid light is still off and the car is driving fine but I'm prepared to repair the hybrid battery whenever that light comes on again. Please tell me more about swapping it for a newer model? You mean at Lexus?
  5. Thank you for your suggestion! I took your advice and went to check at another garage. I was informed that the rear right shock is poor (leaking) but the springs on them are good. I was also informed that the 3 other shocks and their springs have nothing wrong with them. The reason I was given for the poor ride quality was that the front wheel bearing hub for the driver's side is very noisy and should be replaced. According to the garage, this is more urgent than even the rear shocks! Thanks to @Notamech, I have purchased the rear right shock for £160 including postage but now I am inclined to get a third opinion on why the car is riding a bit rough compared to the luxury ride that I've enjoyed to date. Any experience of poor and noisy ride from a deteriorated front wheel bearing hub?
  6. In the NW of England if you park your car in the shade ( there is no Sun ) and facing North then it will go green sooner or later.
  7. I think that they have already got the solution, which won't be a hardware replacement in terms of CANBUS architecture. That would bankrupt Lexus due to the implications. It may just be speculation but I can't see anything they can offer except for an "approved" immobiliser operable without recourse to the CANBUS system so that it cannot be hacked, or by re-writing ecu software such that it has to look for the thumbs up from the discrete immobiliser, involving some form of ECU reflash. What they delay is for I don't understand as this has been known about for a good few years but swept under the carpets in the vain hope there wouldn't be the backlash by customers against them. Ask yourself, would Lexus have been pushed into doing something if no complaints had been made, of their own honest volition? of course not. It'll be a least cost sticking plaster, but in their defense, at least they are seemingly addressing it. It may not prevent attempted theft so owners are still advised to add a visible deterrent in the form of steering wheel locks, wheel locks or both to make it an unattractive target. They may surprise us yet, so worth giving them the benefit of doubt, and wait and see. If they truly do value existing customers, whatever is offered will be fit for purpose. If it isn't, they'll lose a heck of a lot of UK customers.
  8. Meanwhile, Lexus cars are being stolen daily. All good for Lexus though as they get to sell you another - 2 sales instead of 1......
  9. Had both, same mileage at ~ 63k Both are excellent, engines are similar in terms of reliability, but although the power of the IS250 manual is around 204bhp its acceleration is a tad sluggish compared to the Accord 2.0 i-vtec auto which is rated around the 150bhp. Both feel powerful though. Couple of issues with the Lexus are the exhaust pipes, they will corrode fast and replacing one is around a grand, also the rims could do with replacement as your tyres will eventually deflate fast continually. The Accord body is prone to corrosion if used in very wet environments but mechanically, it just feels it has that tiny technical edge over the Lexus because of its superlative engine. The Accord has more gadgets than the Starship Enterprise which is a love or hate thing. Both have same comfort levels but both engines have top notch Japanese reliability.
  10. Hi Ted, hope you are well. Unfortunately I sold my year 2000 LS400 electrical manual to another member but cannot now remember who it was. It is very unlikely to be the airbag itself, from what I recall there is an earth wire to the steering wheel centre metal frame ( black wire I think) which is riveted to it, this rivet becomes loose so no longer earths when the pad is pressed. There is also a 10A horn fuse and a horn relay involved. What you could do to eliminate theses components is get in the car, close the door and then lock the car with the remote. Then open the door which should activate the alarm sounding the horns confirming this section is working. You could just fit a separate switch for the horn somewhere convenient bypassing the horn pad if this is the cause of the problem. If you are really stuck you’re welcome to drive down to me just over the county border.

  12. I asked Lexus Customer Relations for an update and this is their response. Thank you for contacting Lexus UK. We understand the concerns you may have with regards to the safety of your RX450h F Sport. I can confirm that Lexus UK is investing heavily in looking to offer additional security enhancements to those customers who may potentially be impacted by the rise in organised criminal activity. We are waiting for final confirmation, upon testing, as to when this will be implemented and introduced to support customers. Regrettably, it is taking a little longer than expected but we anticipate being able to advise the Lexus Centre network with full details very soon, as they will be responsible for fitting the enhanced security measure. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to highlight your concerns with Lexus UK. Hopefully this will provide some reassurance that we are committed to finding a solution for our valued customers.
  13. If you don't like reality just tell it to change. For example, I had a wonderful Maths teacher, Mr Clarke. he explained numbers and indeed colours in conceptual terms. For example, why is this pen blue? Not XXXYZZG ? He explained "it is Blue ,because we collectively agree to call it that" . It is just a label and nothing more so that we can agree on how we decide to define what we are looking at. On that basis , I shall now look out my window at my Green XK. Oh s..t, I must have missed some of the explanation.
  14. Have you tried checking the plates? Securing them firmly in the bumper did the trick for me
  15. Haha, my sentiment entirely! Just sent you a pm re insurance.
  16. Don, Life is too short & you can also negotiate some extras to sweeten the deal. Tel
  17. being a tad colour blind often helps in older years ...... you really did think it was green at the time then ? Malc FACT: son-in-law re-paints the wood casing around his garden hottub a magnificent sea-going summery blue ......... WOT he's saying exasperated, I painted it brown to match the cover ............. not joking sadly, just a tad colour blind 😂
  18. When I sold my two year old NX to WBAC in 2022 I got nearly what I’d paid two years earlier. That was during the chip shortage when cars were taking over a year from ordering to delivery and people on PCPs were after very good low mileage second hand. That isn’t the case any more and we’re back to some stock being held in the country. That is reflected in the trade in price and mine has dropped about £14k since new in October. The only way I can justify a change is with some hard negotiating and we’re too and fro at the moment. I’m waiting for a call today. I’m interested because it will be significantly better on fuel, I now know the insurance is cheaper and the high powered rear axle may save me in the bad weather. If I can’t reach an agreement with the dealer on new, I’ll wait until nearly new second hand are available.
  19. I'm keeping an eye out this year for the GT3 series the RCF is racing in. If by any chance they are at Brands Hatch it would make a good Lexus owners meeting. From my recollection of them a long time ago they were thunderous to say the least.
  20. pistachio with nuts then 🙃 green is a rarity so any LC pistachioed might have great lasting value ......... unless someone else devours if first Malc
  21. Yes that car is an embarrassment, I've always said that if you want to go on track buy a 2017 RCF and spend the rest on a Caterham or like me a hot VX220 Turbo makes far more sense. just found this
  22. might this be just USA regulations ? if they can do it for the USA market which is huge, might it be relevant elsewhere too maybe 🫢 Malc
  23. So yesterday I saw some beautiful Green cars. A Stag, Morgan, Vantage and a couple of others slightly less striking in tone. Today I am looking at the Grey XK and shaking my head ...what were you thinking young man?
  24. Saw a dark silver LC on the A303/A30 yesterday about 6pm heading East - looked the dogs danglies!
  25. Norri Green with a tan interior? 🤩
