  2. Hi all. Picking up a 2019 IS300H advance tomorrow. One aspect I never checked was the audio. I'd prefer to listen wired to at least get the best out of what seems to be an average audio set up in these cars. What is the best way to do this if i wanted to listen to Spotify playlists via an Android phone? Is it USB or an AUX cable. Peferably it would be nice to skip songs via the steering wheel controls. Is there also a specific type of cable i should be getting to allow audio from phone to car? Thanks in advance.
  3. I noticed too, no it wasn't me. Hopefully the buyer joins up here to show it off, I'd be really interested to see how it holds up.
  4. @JimmyTightlips were you the one that bought it in the end? It's disappeared from AT and Ebay!
  5. Thanks Tom. I’ve checked on the app to see but it only showed the solid ev lines but have heard it will over ride when it needs to for a few reasons. I’ll see how I get on tonight and back in a few days which will be 300+ miles mainly with ICE. Sounds from what you say that I’ll have to manually vary it to EV to use the electric range in the right places rather than just use HV mode. Good to know.
  6. There is no mention of this in my owners manual? On page 165 or anywhere else?? But on page 382 is states, "Towing capacity with brake 1500kg without 560kg." It also says 1500 on the log book?? Witter makes a tow bar for the IS250 2007. Guy coming on the 15th to supply and fit, inc electrics foe £460. All I will be towing is a small camping trailer so it should be fine??
  7. No worries, appreciate the response anyway! I have found quite a lot of info for US owners with this exact issue, know as "acceleration hesitation" including many fixes, but have found very little from UK owners who have fixed this issue. I am determined to see this through and fix it so will post any updates here for future UK owners. Please excuse the long post but I want to include others with as much info as I can. So the issue on mine is exactly as described by Ross in their original post. My car is a 2006 LS460 with 101k miles, recent Lexus main dealer service history. My car experiences the issue, however after a few miles of constant 60mph+ driving, i.e. motorway, the issue completely goes away. After a few miles of slow town driving, it returns. No exceptions to this rule. Sometimes there is an "inbetween" stage where if the acceleration is lagging I can come off the throttle, then back onto it and the car flies. But this never lasts long. Manual or auto mode does not change anything. Where it started: my car was with Lexus Bristol for a gearbox oil and brake fluid flush & replacement. Engine oil service had been done a few months prior. Drove fine for 2 weeks and then this issue started, not sure if it is related to the service undertaken. Curiously, my airbag light (passenger knee) came on the same morning the issue started. No idea if related but maybe worth noting. I've lived with it for a few months as I mainly do motorway driving. In that time I have tried some of the quicker/easier potential fixes found online: using all different brand and grade of fuels, using BG 44K fuel system cleaner, using PWR mode. No fix. Last week, upon accelerating from a stop at around 10mph/2000rpm the engine coughed and stalled. Orange CEL, VSC, PSC and red battery lights flashed. Started right back up (Same lights illuminated minus battery light) no issues and drove as before. OK, it was time to return to Lexus. A day or so before it went in, all the lights did disappear but the computer stores these codes. They scanned the computer and found a few codes, most pertinent was P2119 for 'Throttle Actuator Control Throttle Body Range/Performance'. They took out the TB and cleaned it up, test drove and none of the codes returned. Even the airbag light went and has stayed out. So some progress, but the car still drove like a pig around town so no dice. My next two avenues of approach are: 1) Check that the Valve Spring Replacement recall described here: https://media.lexus.co.uk/lexus-announces-uk-recall-campaign/ has been performed for my car. Many US owners report that this fixes the hesitation issue. Lexus did issue affected VIN#'s for US cars but I couldn't find any for the UK, however my car definitely fits the correct age range. I don't honestly think this is the issue but I have asked Lexus to confirm if my car was affected and/or repaired under this recall just to cross it off the list. 2) Secondly, and far more promising, is that many US owners report that a technical service bulletin to update the ECM/Powertrain Control Module parameters completely fixes this issue. These are 2008 L-SB-033-08, later superceded in 2017 by L-SB-0122-17. I have attached pdf copies of both, and they exactly describe the issue our cars have experienced. Funnily enough, they also make reference to the fact that the car may throw a check engine code... you guessed it P2119 for Throttle Body! This TSB involves a reflash of the ECM/PCM (sometimes multiple reflashes required), and in "some cases" replacement of the heads. Ouch. Unfortunately these are US-based bulletins and do not apply in the UK. I have sent this information to Lexus Bristol and I am hoping that there is a UK equivalent, or at least an ability to perform the same update to my car. If they can't or aren't willing, I will explore whether any good Lexus indies are able to do this. There are a few further fixes I have identified through my research, including Peter's excellent info earlier in this post, however for now I'm cautiously optimistic on the above TSB. I will post again when I have a meaningful update. L-SB-0122-17 'Hesitation on Acceleration and-or P2119' [2017-05-03].pdf lsb003308.pdf
  8. And Bettys for afternoon tea any day is better than anything Espana can offer I’m sure 🤔 Malc
  9. "Think Yorkshire may have been a tad warmer than Spain today." Not something you hear said very often!
  10. Today
  11. David, Mine is in 'ECO' mode and now showing 2.4 mile/Kwh. Note that when in EV mode the car will sometimes make up its own mind to change to HV mode for a short time. I think this may be to keep the 12v battery charged, or perhaps some other reason, but it gives you a false idea of the range you think you are getting in EV mode. I tried a longer motorway trip recently in HV mode, but the car stayed the whole journey with the ICE engine doing the driving and the fully charged EV battery stayed fully charged. So I put it into EV mode for the return journey! Electricity is cheaper than petrol! Tom
  12. I sent an email to my local dealer, saying that Lexus had advised that they would be given details of a security enhancement by the end of April, and asking whether they had received it, and when they would be contacting me. 13. This is how CVTs behave and I agree, it could be appear a bit counter-intuitive if you haven't driven CVTs before. Unlike torque converters, CVTs don't have gears, so in essence, the transmission constantly adapts to set-speed (cruise control) and road gradients and it does this by varying the engine RPM for optimal performance. This is why you'll find the RPM go down sometimes as you're speeding up. Weird I know but that's the CVT.
  14. Went on the Spanish motorway with the top down. No hats lost again. Noisy at 80 thru the tunnels past the trucks. My ears are still ringing. Think Yorkshire may have been a tad warmer than Spain today.
  15. Toyota’s are getting better. But Lexus will get better too 💫 quality and reliability wise, aren’t they identical? It’s more superficial pleasantness in a Lexus: nicer looks, nicer cabin, better materials, sound deadening, smoothness etc? All the ‘nice to haves’ Personally I’m mad we aren’t getting that new Prius 🙃
  16. Wink wink, nudge nudge, we won't tell where your wife rides ! It's the boot lid (cough).
  17. Anyone familiar with this landmark will instantly know Lexigirl was tripping out in Ilkley today. Moreover at 23 C she was doing it with her head uncovered. Now question for my passenger wife was "tell me what do you think with the hood down and sunshine on your head?". Her reply (bearing in mine she's an old school Yorkshire lass), "it was ok". Da da ,this is wife speak that she loved it ! For myself admittedly not in the greatest of shape at the moment it was unadulteratedly wonderful. A real pick me up and a super reminder that the body may be thinking one thing ,but the mind ,our mental outlook can still be lifted by experiences that bring joy.
  18. ….why do people filch these torches, Malcolm - they won’t use them and have no idea of the value ! I have had a flag out for one on EBay for 3 year’s - not a sniff ! have owned 4 BMW’s - only one had the original torch in the the glove box socket! anthony
  19. …..honest answer Malcolm - I don’t know ! ☹️ only the final series of the LS 400 (1997 - 2000), as you well know, had this system for just 4 year’s. I think, other reader’s please chime in, the LS 430 ran an alternative nav drive 😳? anthony
  20. Zero torch …… you can knock at least a couple of grand off your asking price 🤣 Malc
  21. …..back, again ! I appreciate it is only nigh on 72 hour’s since placing my For Sale ad for my 2000 / X, Lexus LS 400 but I keep thinking of additional detail’s that may help in your decision making to purchase said vehicle ! 🤔 some more information, then: OEM electric steering wheel motor replaced with same 06 / 2021 - this adjust’s the Tilt, Reach and Elevation of wheel. New Bosch AGM Battery installed 02 / 2024 Platinum Plugs replaced at 157.261 m the vehicle will be supplied with 2 Key’s this vehicle is listed to run on regular E10 unleaded petrol unlike it’s major competitor’s, of this age, who will likely demand premium E5 ! many Insurance Companie’s consider a 20 year old car as a Classic Car - hence reduced premium, as a second car ? the vehicle will be supplied with 4 custom made black rubber floor overmat’s in addition to the existing 4 Lexus carpet overmat’s. Lexus Toolkit, excluding Torch, inevitably, all complete and unused. spare tyre, near new Falken brand. following photo’s refer and, no, the carefully placed toolkit and wheel bolt box’s do not cover unsightly holes or old cement powder stains ! 🙄 (see, I know exactly what you are thinking, just like me 🤭 ). anthony
  22. I've just raised a “complaint” with LV asking what the delay is in insuring the LBX and when it will be added to their list. Will keep you updated with outcome.
  23. Hello, I've recently noticed a Passenger Airbag Off light pops up when I start my 2009 450. I've switched the passenger airbag manual switch on and off a few times but the light still comes on. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Thanks, Richard
  24. Never been Lexus updated then ?? yes I use my phone, Google maps etc but might wish for a real uptodate working satnav BUT I suspect no Ls400s have it Malc
  25. A bit early for me to comment on ICE as I’ve only had the car for three weeks /248 miles and 92% of driving has been EV so far so I’m showing a rather unsustainable mpg figure still. m/Kwh has gradually increased from 2.1 when I picked the car up to 2.9. I’ve comfortably managed a 38 round trip to family in EV mode only and the last trip had 9 miles left when I got back. That may have been helped by being stuck behind a HGV on the way there! First longer trip tonight of about 150 miles so will be interesting to see the difference using a blend of HV mode on dual carriageways etc and EV at low speed / built up areas rather than just staying in EV mode. I’ll post again once I’ve done a few longer trips and give an idea of the ICE only mpg. Are you all in Normal mode or have you switched to Eco?
