  1. Past hour
  2. There also appears to be evidence on here that they weren’t ! Nothing is immune to being nicked, if they want it, they will take it. You can have all the security devices you wish, but like you biggest assets, they are only as as secure as a pane of glass, be it home or vehicle, and with us no longer having a worthwhile Police service( too busy dealing with offended people) your chances of any recompense rely on a crime number, and insurance claim!
  3. Our German Shepherd considers cats Brunch ! Although he's got absolutely zero chance of ever catching one.
  4. Went to Lyon Road site (Toyota+Lexus) last Wednesday to have a protection plate fitted. Turns out they didn't actually have the part from Lexus which was frustrating. However I was quite pleased with the setup there, lots of coffee, comfortable seats and loads of What Car? magazines showing how well Toyota and Lexus have done in the Best Cars of the Year 2024! I am told servicing for Lexus will stay at Lyon Road and not go to the old Hendy site. I'm due for service in October so will have to wait until then to give a proper critique although, who knows, they may have got the protection plate and other new security measures for my NX sorted before then! Afterwards, on Wednesday, went to the old Hendy site to see if I could get a test drive in the new LBX. Only one salesman in the showroom and he was busy with another customer. Eventually found someone else to talk to but he was just going out. However, he said another salesman would be available shortly. Spent the next 30 minutes looking around new and used cars. Tried to get into LBX in showroom but battery was flat so doors and boot wouldn't open. Salesman never showed up and I went home. So, apparently Snows not much better than Hendy!
  5. Got a feeling it might need this sort of slim nut …… https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283357486360
  6. Think the spec Neil put up was what each car has as wheel nuts. The Lexus will be M12 x 1.5 wheel nut thread regardless of wheel fitment. Tricky bit is finding a M12 x 1.5 that fits down the Maserati slim will nut holes. The 21mm head original nut won’t fit, so maybe a 19 or 17mm head nut might be required .
  7. I had some trim damage to the Centre console when got my previous car back ☹️ So try give the job a good look over before you leave the dealer. In contrast, many members on a previous Lexus forum had no problem at all 👍🏻
  8. So after a four month wait the air bag part is now in stock and the car is in today for two days. I had to explain to them all the extras fitted with the additional wiring plus the TPMS is disconnected and that the blessed headlamp leveling system is playing up again. Hopefully every thing will go well.
  9. Today
  10. Don't you mean the wheel nuts should be M12 if the SC studs are M12? i am no expert on this but If the Maserati is M14 and a M12 nut is used there will be a little play on the wheel bolt hole and maybe a fraction less metal to metal contact on the cone or taper. I am not sure if that matters or not, otherwise surely it would need the hubs drilled out to take a M14 stud.
  11. I get 40-42 on a run from Chesterfield to Hampshire/Surrey regularly. 95% motorway. Speed between 55 and 75. 2009 RX450h 155k regularly serviced. I think Tesco 99 or Shell V-Power helps. 38.5 would be my worst on this journey. 42.5 best. That’s average of 42.5 on the 400 mile return journey. You have to totally minimise acceleration and use of brakes. Obviously this is not always possible. If you plan the braking that is required effectively that will help maximise regenerative braking; keeping the needle inside the blue zone but not letting it drop to the bottom or any braking past that will not be regenerative. The more you can coast when meeting slower traffic the better. I don’t use the ‘eco’ setting at all or A/C. I think it’s less generally if wet/dark etc.
  12. Then onto all our insurance bills. It is costs like this causing insurance companies to raise rates, we all suffer.
  13. A good point The Car Care Nut YouTube channel made about LS400's was that "they are the most reliable cars in their segment". Compared to high end Mercedes... BMWs... especially Audi's, they will give you less trouble. That's not to say no trouble at all. The rarity is the big factor here. As mentioned, dealers are fairly useless as troubleshooting (despite state of the art workshops and open access to proprietary systems and troubleshooting guides we could only DREAM of accessing at home). Any one-off special panels, parts or modules will likely cost a small fortune and at some stage, possibly even a significant % of the cars value. I think if you don't use it as a primary car, maintain it well, do low miles a few times a year, they'll virtually last forever. But everyday usage, even with superb servicing will mean scratches, dents, the odd low speed accident, deterioration of rubber parts, long-term heat damage from components like brakes and other parts like rubber seals. Things no car in use can escape fully. Granted, the Relax or even new car warranty wouldn't cover those anyway. But make no mistake, these are are the utmost of Lexus quality. It's not a facade, or a box ticking model, every single aspect, finish and characteristic of the car is done with great intention. This will undoubtedly apply also to the long-term ownership and the engineering parts.
  14. Well, the only plus is, that the cost of this courtesy car in the meantime will be going on to the third party's insurance bill...
  15. Lexus offer their old extended warranty for vehicles between 10 and 15 years old.
  16. Ah, I see - the light configuration suggests that there's a light for each seat but there are in fact separate lights for green and red. A single light that changes from red to green would have made more sense but hey ho. Thanks for the clarification.
  17. our cats usually " see off " any dogs that dare venture close by Malc
  18. We have some neighbours like that. They are another pain. They stand there while their dog does its business on our lawn ( admittedly they do trespass to pick it up). But they are oblivious to what is happening and seem to see no wrong in it. The smell attracts other dogs to do the same. My wife won't let me go out to tell them off in case it causes issues.. We tried some "get off" sprinkles and it works for a while but is a bit expensive.
  19. On the bright side my daughter is at a conference at Lancaster University today and I agreed to ferry her there and back in the XK. She has a foot like a clog so I think she's going to like it.
  20. I think you are right . My eldest brother suffered with gout all his life right from being a teenager to the end and I know from his experience it was absolutely awful, agony. You wouldn't wish it on anyone (other than the guy with the dog that craps at the gate).
  21. Dan, mine were fitted months ago, but, apart from tracker( which is pretty pointless these days) none of the security devices are Thatcham approved, and make no difference whatsoever to your insurance premium!
  22. I fully sympathise. I have had it for years in shoulder and leg and it's a real pain - literally. I am actually getting used to it now and just live with it! But it's nothing compared to GOUT - Aaaaargh! Ibuprofen works but I am not allowed to take it. I take nothing for any of it.
  23. I know of an RX that has the security plates fitted and has foiled 2 attempts of theft. If you haven't had them fitted get them fitted and get them checked when you have the car serviced.
  24. I would have a look at who underwrites both and compare
  25. I started with Sciatica this year and it is now combining forces with my Rheumatoid and Ostioarthritis. Resisting a steroid shot for the moment ,but with my CRP level sitting at 14.9 it won't be for long.
  26. Scs getting old with their owners too ……… your Sc relies on YOU to wake up every morning so stop whingeing and ENJOY every day …… it won’t come again ……., AND your health is ok really …… you wake up every day , get out and about and have the mental capacity to actually whinge …….. so ENJOY Do you take any useful exercise ? like swimming maybe 🤔 Malc I thought Lexus owners were made of sterner stuff tbh
