Yes, I fell for the same thing and only figured it out after a couple of days of owing the car. God knows why it's not the same as the central locking duration but I am sure the Lexus boffins have a reason...

Sorry Mark, what do you mean by cylinder barrel?

i meant the barrel which is between the fuel cap release and boot release situated in the cabin near the drivers right knee - if the barrel is pushed in it means the boot is locked and will only once by inserting the key and releasing the barrel
