Hi,

You need a code reader to see what fault code the ECU has stored to see what the problem is.

There are plenty on Amazon/Ebay, and as long as it is OBD2 compatible, it should work.

They don't cost a lot and could come in handy if anything happens again.

Most probably egr valve or dpf. Give it a good belting down the motorway at 3000 rpm or more for 30 minutes. If light still on remove egr valve and clean thoroughly.

@Peachy, How is the egr related to the vehicle stability system?

What Shapor said.

Sounds like your master cylinder is on the way out out or maybe low on brake fluid.  Best to visit your nearest lexus service centre for a diagnosis.

Check vsc is almost always lit up on the is220d as it's always having problems due to being a very unreliable car. In fact it's an embarrassment to lexus. Only good thing about it is looks the same as the far superior IS250 apart from its single down facing exhaust pipe that blows all its soot into the tarmac.

Dpf blocked or egr is prime suspect on is220d with those lights on only if goes into  limp mode, it happened twice on previous is220d lights on went into limp mode on m25. Like shahpor get codes first
